Only a handful of the original design documents for the Fallout games have been released to the public. The first batch was released by Chris Avellone for the first two games, by way of the Fallout Bible, while the design documents for the canceled games Van Buren and Fallout Extreme were leaked and released online. Van Buren's in 2005 at No Mutants Allowed and Fallout Extreme's in 2010 on The Vault (now Nukapedia). Additional miscellaneous documents also made their way online in later years.

Excerpts from Fallout: New Vegas design documents were shown in Chris Avellone's presentation "A 4 Hour Story in 400 Simple Steps: Fallout DLC" at Game Developers Conference 2012" .[1]
