The advanced riot gear and advanced riot gear helmet are a unique set of armor in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Lonesome Road.
Background[]
Sometime before 2281, an officer of NCR riot control clad in the armor took up a sniping post along the High Road in the Divide but was killed, with his body left out in the open until the Courier traveled through there in 2281.[1]
Characteristics[]
Equipping the advanced riot gear grants 21 DT, while it weights 25 pounds and has 600 durability. It also offers a +10 bonus to Explosives and +1 to Endurance.
The helmet gives the effect "Red Vision," which grants Low-Light Vision while sneaking between 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. or while indoors. This will toggle from on to off upon exiting sneak mode. While sneaking with the helmet equipped at night or within a building, it will activate a red, hazy night vision effect. The red low-light vision may activate later in the evening, as late as 8:15 p.m. At all times, the helmet provides +2 Perception.
Visually, compared to the standard riot gear set, the shoulder pads are bulkier and worn on top of the duster, and the chest plate seems to be slightly greener. The duster is also a slightly dustier brown color than the standard riot gear. Also, the armor plates on the forearms are much thicker. The helmet has a yellow and white shield insignia on the front as well as a "=100=" symbol on the left side. The helmet has additional air-filtering hardware on the other cheek and weighs five pounds less when compared to the standard riot gear.

Riot gear - the basic variant both sold in commissary terminals and found throughout the Divide.- Elite riot gear - a more improved variant found in the Third Street Municipal Building in the Divide.

Locations[]
The armor is located in the Crow's Nest, in the area of the High Road in the Divide. It is worn by a deceased ghoulified NCR riot control member, whose body will be hanging out a window on the west side of the top level. Note, it is possible to dislodge the body if the warhead below the Crow's Nest is detonated beforehand to kill the marked men surrounding it.

Playing Caravan while Sneak Sight is activated may make it difficult to see the cards.
Behind the scenes[]
- The emblem placed on the forehead of the helmet is a recolored version of a shoulder patch used by the real-world 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. There is no official confirmation that the regiment exists in the Fallout universe nor if the helmet's emblem is related.
- The advanced riot gear has two unused files in the game's .bsa archives, denoted as nvdlc04riotgearadv_n.dds (normal map) and nvdlc04riotgearadv_g.dds (glow map), which depict an early variant of the riot gear. It has several cosmetic differences, including four rows of PALS strips on the abdomen, pockets on the duster and on its sleeves (painted-on, as opposed to added geometry), and a different texture for the wrist guards, apparently used as a container. The glow texture would result in several parts of the armor glowing (presumably white): The circle on the throat guard, stripes on the shoulder plates, and a set of additional stripes on areas not present in the finished model.
Bugs[]
The player can still wear additional head wear with this helmet. This is due to all variants of riot helmets not being flagged as "hat." [verified]- After detonating the warhead from a distance, the dead body of the ranger wearing the armor may disappear. On PC, the armor can be obtained through console commands. [verified]
- It is possible for the armor to fall off its original ledge, making it impossible to obtain.[verified]
- Like with the riot gear, the shoulder part of the duster might permanently change its color to red. [verified]
