So, a question- When you say a version "extends" another, does that mean I have to get both? For example, if I want antialiasing, do I need Standard as well?
c. To make more comprehensive or inclusive. See Synonyms at increase.
Especially, 5c.
Also, from the OP:
Being "inclusive" means they "include" the features of the editions they extend. Of course, the chart above (from the OP) should speak for itself.
Also, a quick "search" using the search function at the top of this page would most likely also have provided you with examples of many previous discussions and explanations of this.
So, I saw the Random Mobs option, and I have multiple wolf skins (5) how would I go about getting the RandomMob option to use the multiple wolf textures?
(I'm aware that the Doggy Talents mod lets you manually change tamed wolf skins. But I want to learn to setup the textures so I can add multiple textures for all my animals.)
THank you c:

Oh.... Yeah. Truly sorry about that. I feel really dumb. Thank you for your patience though. I guess I'm more out of it than I realize when I post at 3:04 AM.
I have issues with this since the latest update, my graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 4250. My issue is that blocks are clear, but I can't find the settings to fix it.
Hello I have a question that I am hoping that someone can give me a informative answer. I have used optifine since 1.0 and have always loved it but lately I have noticed that with every new update I have a smaller and smaller increase in fps. I have asked friends and such who also use optifine and many either do not have a answer or say that I may need to update my driver. I did this maybe 2 days ago and have notice a better increase but with longer load times. I am currently using a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M and am wondering if this or the version 296.1 has problems with Minecraft. If not a answer about the driver itself maybe a suggestion on settings and version of optifine I should use will greatly help. If more details on my specs are needed I can provide them.
This is magic. Damn shame that the textures keep messing up. I'm stubbornly refusing to remove it, however, so I'm pretty much just exiting and restarting minecraft until the mobs I'm most concerned about have the right textures.
An example of texturing issues:
Not using patcher or any texture packs, and using the multicore version.
I posted this question in another thread, but I'm seeing posts about incompatibilities between recent Forge versions and Optifine (HD_A2 Multicore and the Smooth version both act the same way in my case).
Is this a symptom of those issues, or it's something else entirely?

I think the connected textures need a little bit of fixing. I've got new sandstone all over and its fine, but after I apply connected textures it all converts to plain sandstone textures, and no matter where I place the new sandstone textures in the same pattern that the plain connecting sandstone has (top, side, connected side, bottom) it still shows plain sandstone.
Its not like this matters of anything but its just something that would be good to get fixed. Just figured I'd let you know about that if you or others haven't noticed it yet, I did a search and nothing came up relating to this.
Just curious. Was it the part about mod order mattering, the part about steps to take if you previously used MCPatcher, or both? And, glad I could help.

ATI drivers are noted to have issues. Primarily, with the OpenGL driver portion. You can try disabling OpenGL in the OptiFine settings in Minecraft. Also, in the ATI Graphics Control Panel, look for something like a "Threaded Optimization" and/or "OpenGL" setting and disable it.

I use that driver too and have had no problems with it. If you see a performance issue with that driver, it'd happen with more than just Minecraft and it should also happen with Minecraft loaded without OptiFine. But, it can be related to how specific settings are configured in both your graphics control panel and in Minecraft. And, providing more specs always helps.

Not using patcher or any texture packs, and using the multicore version.
You really needed to provide much more information than just a picture. Try updating your video driver, Java, and LWJGL. Also, disable the "Threaded Optimization" setting in your graphics control panel. Then, reboot your computer. If that doesn't help, try using the Smooth version instead.
I posted this question in another thread, but I'm seeing posts about incompatibilities between recent Forge versions and Optifine (HD_A2 Multicore and the Smooth version both act the same way in my case).
Known issue with latest version of Forge. sp614x has already stated that there will eventually be a compatibility fix.
You're contradicting yourself. OptiFine have MCPatcher functionality.
And yes, your issue exactly because of OptiFine_MT.
How is he contradicting himself? He's not. Even though MCPatcher and OptiFine share a lot of the same functionality, they are different. They don't share 100% of the same functionality and implement their features differently. Plus, MCPatcher itself is just a utility for installing included mods for its version of the function being used. Also, MCPatcher can be used to patch in other mods. So, maybe he's just stating that he didn't use it for any of its patching purposes.
As for the multi-core edition of OptiFine supposedly being the problem, that's not accurate either. Problems related to using the multi-core edition could be related to video drivers, other updates, configuration settings, or a number of other issues. But, that doesn't mean that it's the multi-core edition itself. And, stating that the multi-core edition itself is the problem is like saying that it can't possibly be resolved by addressing the true nature of the problem.

This was addressed with the latest version of OptiFine. If you're using a previous version, that could explain why you are having the problem. Also, it could be a problem if your texture pack isn't properly supporting connected textures since Minecraft added the new sandstone blocks.
I downloaded ALL versionseditions, and it said they all had 1-5 errors. Help?
Please tell me you are NOT trying to use all of the different editionsat the same time. If you tried one edition at a time, that's different. Whichever one you installed last is the one being used.
As for the errrors, mod order matters. Also, if you want help, you have to give a lot more information including what those errors are.
You need to have a texture pack that supports connected textures. And, in the OptiFine settings in Minecraft, you need to have the connected textures setting enabled.
Check out this new Optifine installation tutorial created by TheBlackopsification: ...
I don't really like that tutorial.
It says that the Smooth edition is harder to install than the Standard edition (implying the same for the Multi-Core edition too). They're NOT harder to install. You can install them in exactly the same way. So, nothing harder about it.
It also doesn't show needing to delete the META-INF folder since that was already removed from his minecraft.jar file.
It doesn't talk about possible issues with having used MCPatcher first.
It doesn't talk about mod order (which matters).
It doesn't address using Magic Launcher as a possible alternative to manually installing OptiFine.

I'm using the default pack, and I do have the settings on.
Can anyone recommend me an older stable high performing NVIDIA 9xxx series driver (W7)?
Also, is anyone experiencing horribly poor performance in the Nether (related to loading Blocks in the Nether near you)?
