Woot, the update progress is now 80%. Was at 40% for over 24 hours.
Luckily I can live without OptiFine for a few days. I'm getting over 200 FPS on fast graphics, and normal render distance. But I miss being able to configure almost every graphical feature though.
I'd also like to see a configurable sign text rendering distance. SpoutCraft has this feature, and it greatly reduces lag in areas with a lot of signs in SMP (like the spawn). But it would be nice to implement into OptiFine itself.
Dude, your awesome for making this mod. However, is it possible that you release a beta version of Optifine? Becouse minecraft is literly unplayable for me. Some people need it badly! So, im begging you to release some sort of minimal version for now
Gr SporeSpood
It will be done when it is done, just play around with some 1.1 mods till then. I'm in the same boat as you, for some reason those bright fellows at mojang decided to increase the world height without changing the way it handles the chunks. So it did exactly what notch said it would. (Please correct me if there were changes in that area, I couldn't find anything saying there were.) I'm reading Notch's old blog post about it now. http://notch.tumblr.com/post/7799649091/sharing-an-interesting-email
Meanwhile I'm going to get back to work on the most overcomplicated light switch I've ever decided to {try to} make.
Luckily I can live without OptiFine for a few days. I'm getting over 200 FPS on fast graphics, and normal render distance.
Unfortunately I HAVE to set the performance to Power Saver and play at 40fps, otherwise I get over 300fps and a GTX 560ti screaming "I DON'T LIKE THIS ONE BIT".
No embarrestment here, what the hell would i have to be embarrassest about? That i actually speak my mind? Lol
MONEY is MONEY no matter how you look at. And you can assume most views are here to download. Not everyone comes here to comment.
The point is, if you going to do something out of your free time, and try and get money out of it, i can sit here and be impatient all i want when it takes you this long to update it.
You even trying to be the super hero and come save the day is just laughable.
Im free to my opinions, as are you.
I click the adfly links on purpose. So i think my word is worth the couple cents i have made him lol.
People like you are the reason we can't have nice things...
You're getting FREE content that basically makes playing Minecraft tolerable, so you have absolutely no right to act like a selfish brat. Having and giving your opinion is one thing but using your opinion as a reason for generally being a douche-bag is completely different.
Why dont you go make your own version of OptiFine if you're so impatient? It seems like you think manually analyzing, fixing, and checking 959 .class files would only take a few hours of your spare time to accomplish. Good luck with that.
Trying to act like you're entitled to ANYTHING here is what's truly laughable. Your word isn't worth a single penny, sorry to burst your bubble.
Yeah, your right. And this guy deserves a lot of respect for coding Optifine, and I apriciate what he's doing. But can't he release a preview (like he did with 1.1)? Becouse that was amazing for the ones like me who play minecraft with 3-10 fps. And I think the world save is difrent, also how the chunks are loaded. I dont know exactly, but i think Jeb did think about it before he made the hight limit higher.
And, whats that redstone thing your working on?
Who says he's not going to release a preview? It may not be at a point where it's usable. Jeb did redo the lighting engine, which will probably make this update much more difficult. And as you point out, Jeb also changed the chunk format. That makes this update a lot more difficult than the last one.

You can whine and moan all you want, but it's not going to make it come out any faster. If I were him, I'd delay it by a day for each person who makes a post about how it's taking too long.
How odd, i have 2x gtx560ti and an i7 3ghz but without optifine im getting 40 fps on fancy.
The only reason I have it set to Power Saver is because otherwise the card screams.
I just want a proper frame limiter so I can set it to something around 120 or so.

I experience the weird see-through/blue textures problem with OptiFine. I'm using the latest Nvidia 295.73 drivers for my 295 GTX.
I had the 285 and 290 drivers for my old GTX 295, but did not have that problem.
Now I'm using the 295 drivers for my GTX 560ti, also without any problems.
Hey guys,
Firstly I'd like to say that I've used OptiFine before and loved it. I was able to run the first one on the page with no problems.
A couple of days ago, the "Owner" account on my computer corrupted and I had to back up all of my files onto another User Account. For whatever reason when I copied the files over, I got a fresh bin folder in my .minecraft, so I have to reinstall OptiFine. But now when I try to install it, I receive a black screen after log-in. I've made sure the META-INF folder is deleted and the files are copied over from the downloaded .zip.
I've also tried installing via MagicLauncher, but it says that optifine isn't compatible. :\
For the record, I have no other mods installed- not even MCpatcher. Any help is appreciated, and I hope that this post is okay for this thread. Thanks in advance.
Hey Billy ... notice the version discrepancy between what OptiFine is made for and what MineCraft is currently at? Always make sure you're running compatible versions before posting "issues".
Known problems:
- SwampColors in default texture pack are not correct. (fixed)
- Fast Debug Info is not working (fixed)
- Jungle tree leaves have the pine colors (fixed)
- Connected textures - one side of glass blocks not quite OK (fixed)
- One side of BetterGrass blocks is not correct (fixed)
This was a complex update.
The MCP 6.0 is changing the names of the method parameters and method variables, so almost everything had to merged by hand. Feels like rewriting the mod from scratch. Also the new world format, biomes and so on...
Not everything is tested so feel free to find all the bugs.
Ah, I see now. I'm running 1.2.3. and was attempting to run the version I downloaded about two months ago. Dumb mistake on my part, thanks for the insight.

Hey sp
I realize this isn't your place to fix, but I feel like it could be within the scope of optifine until Mojang fixes it themselves: There's a bug in 1.2.3 when playing in SMP where if you warp between worlds, the old world doesn't unload fast enough for the new world to load and chunks try to cross and crash the client.
To quote a fellow player on a large server:
You will have problems if you warp between worlds where start and end warp have nearby coordinates, because of new chunk network transfer optimization. Chunk data collides and client crashes
I wasn't sure if maybe from looking at the code if there could be something you could look at for this. In the meantime, I'll continue trying to bring this to Mojang's attention.
How about adding a profile ability to switch ingame between several settings like fast, balanced, fancy and your own costum settings? Or give us the ability to create profiles.

Turning Fast Debug Info ON doesn't remove the lagometer like it's suppose to.

Amazing work, thankyou for this mod.

Ah, perfect! Downloaded it and it runs great. Thanks again
