Could someone explain to me why my mobs keep losing limbs? Their textures turn invisible at random, which is very disconcerting (especially when the creeper stalking me is only a single leg wandering around by its lonesome).
I have no other mods installed, but I am using the MagicLauncher (if that makes any difference).

When I run the Ultra on my 1.3.1 I crash, I have deleted the META.INF folder and installed 1.3.1 ModLoader and Opti-fine on a clean .jar. Help? Here is the crash:

Any ideas?
OptiFine B1 Ultra for Minecraft 1.3.1 is released.
What is new:
- The Ultra edition has all the features of Standard, Smooth, Multi-Core and AA.
- The option "Chunk Loading"can switch between Standard, Smooth and Multi-Core chunk loading.
- The options "Anisotropic Filtering" and "Antialiasing" control the AA and AF levels to be used. When AA or AF is ON, the game uses a different rendering algorithm and some side effects may be visible. Currently the handheld compass and watch does not work correctly with AA/AF. Anisotropic Filtering (AF) is only effective when Mipmap Level is active. Antialiasing (AA) requires a game restart before it becomes active.
- The Smooth, Multi-Core and AA editions will be replaced by the Ultra edition.
- The Standard edition will be kept, as it is more compatible with other mods.
- The Light edition will also be ported to 1.3.1.
- "Render Distance: Extreme" is currently not effective in 1.3.1. To be fixed in one of the next versions.
By switching the options, the Ultra edition can mutate into Standard, Smooth, Multi-Core, AA or some mix between them.
I just wanted to repost this from sp614x for those that might have not seen it or ignored it.
Also, to clarify, there is now no need for separate Smooth, Mutli-Core, and/or AA editions.
By changing the "Chunk Loading" option, you can switch the behavior of this all-in-one edition to either that of Standard, Smooth, and Multi-Core and any mix of those and the AA/AF edition.
sp614x also stated that he will still be releasing a separate "Standard" edition anyhow because it basically will not have all of the extra code that can possibly cause conflicts with other mods. The same goes for the "Light" edition.
I can only say that OptiFine works like a charm for me, I usually run Minecraft in short view distance and with everything off, today was the first time I can run minecraft with far FoV with fancy graphics and everything on with a stable 35-40fps SP614X you are a genius thanks for letting me play minecraft the way it should be played!!!!!
Can someone help me? My connected textures won't work. This happened even with the 1.2.5 version of Optifine when I had it. And clouds won't show up. And I keep getting a crash on my game every 5-6 minutes depending. The crash report changes everytime too. I don't know if it's Optifine causing it though because I'm not that good at Java coding.
Damned nice having all three options rolled into one mod. Seems like things just generally aren't as stable as they were in 1.2.5 but I guess that's to be expected with all the changes 1.3 put into the game.
Near as I can tell, HD_B1 seemed to work just fine for me. Once again, thanks for all your hard work, OptiFine folks.

You have some old mods in the "mods" folder (MacroModCore), nothing to do with OptiFine.
try disabling random mobs in the quality menu

and gets lag spike around 5-23fps
And...get stuck and slow move mouse
Not installed optifine, its fine running 19-63fps
and not stuck and slow move mouse, its fine run move mouse..
My PC Specs:
Processor: AMD™ Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ @ 3.2ghz
Graphics card: Nvidia GT 430
RAM: 4GB (Used 3.5GB)
Why decreased fps optifine? getting slow fps and stuck move mouse.

Try to change "Chunk Loading" setting.
PS: Weird. 19-63fps? I have Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and Radeon HD3650 (AGP, slightly overclocked) and 30-80fps. You have to clean up your OS.

anyone else getting this?
Exactly
You have some old mods in the "mods" folder (MacroModCore), nothing to do with OptiFine.
Start with a clean minecraft.jar (no MCPatcher, no mods) and delete META-INF.
but my minecraft drops from 75fps when it's running without any mods or anything to 50fps when I run optifine.
Anyone know why it would do this??!
^ Discontinued - new series coming soon.
