Downloaded full version, installed Config.class, ConfigData.class, mw.class, and cd.class. My optifog.txt has FogFancy = true, FogStart = 0.8, OptimizeRenderDistance = true, OcclusionEnabled = true, and everything else commented out. In-game, I'm getting Minecraft default fog and no performance improvement. What's the deal, here?
Also, i.class is used by Dynamic Lights. Any chance of a compatibility fix?
I tried patching in the full version with the OC_MM_CAF config and I it works for a minute at most and then I get:
java.util.ConcurrentModificationException
at java.util.HashMap$HashIterator.remove(HashMap.java:811)
at i.a(RenderGlobal.java:995)
at mw.c(EntityRenderer.java:505)
at mw.b(EntityRenderer.java:426)
at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:700)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:662)
Thanks for the info, the stack trace is exactly what I need to fix it.

You have configured "FogFancy = true", this is the default SLOW fog. Turn it off to see improvement.
Also try without OcclusionEnabled, it works only if the hardware cooperates.
*** UPDATED - Added chunk loading optimizations (like mod CAF) *** *** UPDATED - Modular and configurable (install only what you need, configure it as you like it) ***
All versions (classic, exp. OC and mipmap) are combined together in OptiFog Full.
For installation and configuration details see "Readme.txt" and "optifog.txt".
Please report back if/how the chunk loading optimization works for you.
Do not forget to configure it first, an example configuration is in "optifog_OC_MM_CAF.txt".

Wow, this mod just got confusing! :smile.gif:
The list of possible optimizations got too big ;-).
There is no single combination of features that works for all, so I added a configuration file.
i discovered that for some reason, it stops rendering land past x=0 and y=1023
havn't checked y=0 and x= 1023
edit: when i play the same world clean, chunks past y=1023 or x=0 are renderd
but when i play modded, those chunks just dont render
i can still see animals in the unrendered chunks
this is my spawn:
oh and chunks load very slow, but without any lag
i really need a fix because for me, minecraft without wildgrass is unplayable
and with wildgrass but without optifog, minecraft is really unplayable (see previous post)

Tried both of these, still have Minecraft default fog.
Uh... the installation doesn't say where to put the config files :/
Actually, it does. The readme tells you to put the optifog.txt in the .minecraft directory (it says where the options.txt is / same difference). Then, if you want to use any of the other configurations, you replace the contents of the optifog.txt with the contents of the configuration you want.

Just your friendly, neighborhood /r/Minecraft mod.
Just a data point: with optifog_OC_MM.txt and optifog_OC_MM_CAF.txt, the game crashed in a minute or two of play: lockup, then closed. Windows 7, NVIDIA GTX 480.
It obviously works for some of you, and I hope Notch stops thinking mipmapping sucks due to your and the other mipmap patch (which is imperfect - glass disappears - but doesn't crash the program for me).
Mod works great!!!!! Vanilla Minecraft on tiny fog and fast graphics gives me less than 10 FPS. I installed optimine and it went up to 14fps on tiny fast graphics. Installed the optimine compatible experimental OC version and FPS is now 30-40 on far, fast graphics!!!!! Comp specs are intel i3 380(2.53GHz dual core) and intel HD Graphics(integrated). Runs very well so far!!!!! I am gonna try non optimine version soon...
Hmm... i have only modloader and the more trees mod installed, and i tried running minecraft with Optimine, Optifog, Optifog AND Optimine. All 3 options DECREASED my FPS, i have an nvidia card, help please?
This mods looks great. I only have one question. I made a CMD file for the custom launcher but it doesn't even ask me for my account username and password.... How can I fix that ? Thanks !

From the Readme.txt:
=======================
Copy optifog.txt to the minecraft directory (where options.txt is located)
Edit optifog.txt and enable/disable the options you need.

The crashing is a known bug of the Full version and will be fixed soon.
For mipmaps you can always use the experimental mipmap version
I made a video review of this mod and optimine combined! I feel like it is neccesary for the people to see the change! Feel free to use it in your post if you want, heres the link:

"Sometimes it's necessary to go a long distance out of the way in order to come back a short distance correctly."
Would anyone be kind enough as to inform me how to use the custom launcher discussed by the OP and also be able to log in to join multiplayer servers. From what I've read in this thread that requires a .bat (instead of or as well as the .cmd) to work. I understand how to write both, but I don't know what string I need to enter.
Also, i.class is used by Dynamic Lights. Any chance of a compatibility fix?

Not yet.

wildgrass, fast graphics, short render, no smooth lighting: 5-15 fps
wildgrass + optifog, fancy graphics, far render, smooth lighting: 30-50 fps

If the game crashes for you, run it from a terminal/command prompt and copy and paste that here or in a pastebin.
Simply saying the game crashed doesn't help.

I was trying to get a log, but minecraft shuts down when it show the message
Thanks.
