Unfortunately the most interesting new features did not make it in the E release.
Currently OptiFog has three development branches:
A. Anisotropic Filtering and Full Screen Antialiasing using texture atlas
Adds AF and FSAA using the default Minecraft texture atlas. Not quite working, some color bleeding is still visible in far objects. May need some shader support to really work.
B. Anisotropic Filtering and Full Screen Antialiasing using separate textures
Adds AF and FSAA using separate textures. This one is in development. The performance may be problematic, still have to be tested. If it works Minecraft will finally look nice.
C. Background chunk loading
Loads chunks on a background thread. On dual-core CPU-s it utilizes the second core for loading chunks while the first one renders. Chunk loading should not cause lag spikes, even with integrated graphics.
This branch is already working, but not yet deliverable. Mod compatibility may be problematic, because more class files are changed.
I'm using HD OptiFog_E + ModLoader + BetterGrass (standalone as HD one is not right yet). <-- in this order (and ignoring ip.class as recommended)
I have gained 20-30 FPS with this and it's mostly okay.
I have a small issue, it might be OptiFog or it might be something else, but whenever I break a block, it flashes a sky blue colour briefly before dropping the item.
Thanks for the bug report. The flashing blue color will be fixed in 1.5_01_F. It was caused by too much optimization for the sunset lag.
Added "Smooth FPS" - stabilizes framerate, removes sporadic lag spikes and stutter.
Added "Brightness" - lifts up shadow and night brightness
The sporadic lag spikes and stutter have been on my radar for a very long time, but I didnt know what was causing them. Now they should be fixed, details will apear in the blog. Test and report back.
Minecraft crashes for me when I try to change the brightness in the video settings. Will report back when I find out the exact error. This is with Optimine installed alongside your mod.
IS there ANYWAY you could somehow make this compatible with MinecraftExtended by Smith61?? I have been trying to merge the conflicting files together for weeks, and it dosen't seem that smith is going to be available anytime soon. I miss using this excellent optimization mod! Please give it some thought. The conflicting classes are: m.class / na.class.

Seconded! I recently had problems with chunk updates during sunset/sunrise, only the nearest 6~ or so chunks get updated till long after sunrise/sunset, so the lighting is all screwy. Optifog fixed this by allowing more chunk updates then fps as needed. (I get 100~fps avg, but 100chunk updates/second wasent enough apparently... 150 or so is.. might be some mod conflict, though chunk updates go down to 0 once lighting stops changing)
I tryed installing optifog over extended, it runs.. but all the new blocks have totaly wrong textures (Oldschool blocks have proper textures, but I think anything past the texture override limit that mcextended puts on a new texture sheet is using the wrong sheet now)
At the very least, it would be nice to have the chunk update fix compatable with MC extended, Can that be installed seperately? (What class is it if so?)
I am endeavoring to remember that you are a miracle, a wondrous human being created in the image of God and that I shouldn't wish for your balls to spontaneously combust.
sp614x: Have you considered maintaining OptiMine? It's only receiving unofficial updates now and seems to have a few problems - like water blocks not rendering properly, instead of sharing the same opacity with all interconnected water blocks, they overlap one another block by block. It's really obvious when you're looking at a downward flow of water from a close angle.
The new updates definitely fixed my problems with OptiFog though, and I like the new Smooth FPS option. Thanks!

If I have enough time I will probably port Optimine to 1.6 when it comes out.
I would also like to join Optimine and OptiFog sometime later, this will spare me a lot of work that I have to do now.
Hi I installed Optifog and it works fine, but after 5-6 seconds ingame it crashes.. And if I try tweaking the OpenGL setting in the videosettings it crashes as soon as I touch the button.. Help me? :smile.gif:
I have two really big problems after I installed this mod. The first one, my redstone isn't displaying its texture right and looks like the normal redstone when you place it down with out any connections to it. Second, my fps go from 45 to about 0 when I just use redstone. Please help!
Version 1.5_01_E is out
The sunset lag spikes should be history now.
Fixes fancy clouds rendering on some NVidia cards (white spots on clouds).
Download, test, complain and happy Minecrafting.

Can you make it compatible with modloaderv4... it messes up optifog I can't configure the options.

EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't install correctly.
AutoID , PlanksGalore, and Mods to enhance the BUILDING aspect of Minecraft.
OptiFog includes the CAF functionality.
Just turn on "Load Far" for fast fog switching and "Preloaded Chunks" to define a load-free zone around the player.

Minecraft extended seems to share the M/NA classes... Modloader uses JZ, though I guess that should allready be compatable...
