Urban Warfare is the fifth chapter of Among Thieves. After escaping Borneo, Nathan Drake traveled to a Nepalese city to meet up with Chloe Frazer, and search for the temple connected to Shambhala and the Phurba. Meanwhile Zoran Lazarević and his soldiers were busy taking the city apart looking for the same temple.

After Nate survived the crash of his jeep he was forced to outrun the armored truck chasing him, eventually causing it to explode. As he got his bearings he checked his map looking for the route to the Old Market where he was supposed to reunite with Chloe. He made his way through the city, killing a few soldiers looking for him, and escaping the notice of an attack helicopter that flew overhead. In the Old Market he dispatched a large contingent of soldiers, until a truck arrived with reinforcements and a mounted machine gun, which was shortly after promptly blown up by Chloe with an RPG - 7.

An Ass Worth Saving[]

Reunited, Chloe noticed the Phurba in Nate's pocket as the two engaged in some light sexual banter. As she noted how dangerous Lazarević is she realized Nate had not been listening and was instead inspecting the Phurba. He pointed out a symbol on the ancient ritual dagger, which matched that of a nearby building's facade. He then said that the temple they needed to find would be marked with the same emblem, and that if they had a higher vantage point they would be able to spot the correct temple out of the hundreds in the city. Chloe pointed out a nearby hotel, which was the tallest building in the city by a fair margin.

The two proceeded to head over towards the hotel, taking out several more soldiers along the way. After they cut through a damaged building they emerged in a large plaza which was being occupied by a sizable force of soldiers.

Walkthrough[]

Nepalese streets[]

The moment you gain control you will need to away from the truck barreling towards you. The game will instruct you to shoot it with your AK-47, but you do not actually need to. After it crashes you can enter the street in front of you to trigger another cutscene; wait for the soldiers to pass by as a bus will drive through them and promptly crash. Kill the remaining men, although note that if you kill any with stealth there is a chance they drop rare weapons such as the Wes - 44 unlike the standard AK-47's. You can find a dead resistance soldier's FAL next to the crashed bus, it is far more accurate than the AK-47 but can only fire in bursts.

A nearby traffic light pole with street signs can be climbed to reach the outer wall of a building with more signs attached to the front. Vault over them to enter the building, then leap across into the one next to it where you will fall through the floor. Use the bookcases in the adjacent room to ascend to the rooftop where a helicopter flies by. Stealth kill the soldier across from you and, instead of using the rain pipe to go to the street level, use the nearby signs to go around the building's rooftop, dropping down onto an awning. Ignore the two soldiers running by below you, and use the plank here to cross into another building, which has a Wes - 44 on a desk, as well as a hole in the floor from where you can reach the Old Market.

Old Market[]

You can quickly and safely take out the two soldiers closest to you while their backs are turned. Hopefully the stealth kills so far will have netted you several Mk-NDI grenades, alongside any you could have picked up, as the explosives are the most convenient way in tackling the two groups guarding the sole street in front of your current building. Other options include shooting a propane tank or a car, although the latter does not explode as easily and the former is weaker than a grenade. The building across from you, with a long soldier on the second floor, has a ladder on the right side, leading to a better vantage point and a Moss - 12 and two grenades.

Whether you go for said second-floor position or not, new enemies will constantly appear from the laundry room on the opposite corner of the area once the initial two groups have been taken out. Although most use the standard weapons, there will be at least one carrying a shotgun, and another carrying a riot shield and a Micro - 9mm. The latter can easily take a lot of direct fire using the shield, so aim for any exposed legs, flank him, or use an explosive. You can take his weapons for your own to make dealing with the enemies easier, the shield acting as mobile cover.

If you can make a run for the laundry room, you can find a pair of grenades there, as well as another Wes - 44 on a desk in the room behind it. Odds are you will be interrupted due to reinforcements however, as a truck with more men and a mounted machine gun turret blocks the street off once all soldiers have been killed. Eliminate any of the soldiers if you can, until Chloe takes out the truck for you with a rocket launcher.

Traveling with Chloe[]

Make sure to pick up any of the weapons you prefer littered around the battlefield, stocking up on ammo and grenades, then climb the traffic pole next to the soldiers' truck. From there you can reach the second floor of the laundry room structure, and after some more climbing, exit out the other side onto a rooftop, followed by a balcony and a large yellow street sign. As you reach the sign a group of soldiers appear, which you can easily dispatch by blowing up the propane tank next to the door, dazing any survivors. Alternatively, wait for them to open the door so Chloe can help you out, and kill the soldiers immediately afterwards.

More soldiers will appear at his point, including another wielding a riot shield. Kill them all, including those on the fire escape and inside the building at the end of the street, preferably using Chloe's help. Follow her instructions after the fight is over to give her a boost up the fire escape, then follow her into the building itself. Shoot the planks blocking your way, and press Triangle to temporarily lift the blockage in the next room (you cannot use the grenade in said room to blow it up). Continue through the building until you reach the outside again, from where Chapter 6 "Desperate Times" starts.

Behind the scenes[]

There are two references to Drakes Fortune in this chapter, one being the sign saying Club Raja and another sign saying Hotel El Dorado.

Several movie posters are scattered around the level for fake movies starring various Naughty Dog employees.
