Tunnel Vision is the fourteenth chapter of Among Thieves. Nate boarded Lazarević's train in order to find Chloe, during which he is attacked by a helicopter, and gets into a firefight with Draza.

Story[]

After making it through the tunnel Nate is assailed by a group of Draza's men, who resorted to calling in their attack helicopter when Nate defeated them all. After shooting down the helicopter he gets into a protracted shootout with Draza's remaining unit, until he attacks Nate on his own, a fight that he ultimately loses.

Here Goes Nothing[]

After Draza's defeat Nate takes his Phurba back, shortly after which Draza managed to get back again, surprising Nate. Draza started strangling him, until Chloe shot him through the head, to Nate's relief. With Draza dead, Chloe urged Nate to get off of the train, apparently still angry that Nate did not back her up when they argued about Elena and Jeff. Still arguing, Flynn shot Nate in the abdomen, and then tried to finish him off completely after noting Nate's lack of a witty comeback. Chloe attempted to stop him, but was pushed aside, although this did allow Nate to escape. Flynn ordered several soldiers after Nate, who saw the detonation of a large stack of propane tanks as his only option. This resulted in the crash of his carriage and all of the ones behind him, hurtling them down a cliff in the Himalayas.

Walkthrough[]

The tunnel[]

You can grab a Wes - 44 revolver from one of the crates near the tanker up front, although you do not need it to eliminate the armored soldier patrolling on-top, whom you can simply pull down from the edge once he gets close enough to it. The two soldiers on the next car are not a concern either, although several more will start to appear when you head further down the train. Make sure to grab the Dragon Snipers before you do so, which will be on your right before you jump across to where the two soldiers were. Use the sniper rifle to dispatch the soldiers shooting at you from down the tunnel, as other than hanging off of the train cars' edges you have no space to avoid their bullets.

Two soldiers ambush you when you reach the next car, at which point you also need to worry about the signals on the tunnel's ceiling while going across the rooftops. They do not cover the entire space anymore, instead alternating from blocking off either the left or right halves of the remaining space. The next car is a normal passenger's carriage, although running across the roof and entering it from the other side is recommended to deal with the soldiers inside of it. Restock on weapons, either keeping the Dragon Sniper if you have enough bullets remaining, or swapping to an M4, whereas your one-handed weapon is up to preference. Enter the next carriage through the closed door, then use the stacks of crates to climb to the roof, at which point the train will exit the tunnel again.

First shootout[]

The Dragon Sniper or M4 will come in handy at this point to deal with the exposed soldiers on the rooftops, although you need to do so quickly as you are lacking in cover as well. Beware of the armored Moss - 12-wearing soldier heading your way, as he will eventually climb up to where you are. If you climb down into the carriages you can see him coming and possibly eliminate him before he gets close. Handle any other soldiers in this carriage and the next to your own preferences, although you need to take special care again with the second armored soldier on the flatbed car up ahead.

He will not advance on you, instead opting to use his M4's range and accuracy to try and hit you from afar while relying on his own armor to tank any of your attacks. Either whittle him down with your own sporadic long-range fire, or get close enough (either by using cover or relying on the roof to block line of sight) to use Mk-NDI grenades or shotgun fire to stagger him.

With all soldiers dead you can continue across the flatbeds, including the parked trucks. When you do Draza reappears and orders a heavy soldier to kill you, something you have little chance off on doing in reverse due to their armor. Climb across the trucks, quickly shooting the soldier hiding in the second truck's cargo bay, and then grab his M4, using the spares to refill your ammo. Shoot the two clasps on the stacks of logs, which will cause them and the heavy as well to fall off the train.

Helicopter and Draza bossfights[]

Draza will call in the helicopter, against which you cannot do anything for now. Advance through the train cars until you eventually stumble upon an armored car with a mounted turret. Use it to start firing on the gunship, who will periodically retaliate with missile volleys. You can shoot these down if you want, although they do not pose much of a threat. Eventually the helicopter will have taken too much damage and crash, after which Nate exits the turret and is forced to quickly take cover again due to Draza. He will quickly run away, leaving you to deal with the few remaining soldiers, including an armored shotgunner.

Finally you will have to face Draza in a largely empty carriage, with two benches for each of you take cover behind. There will be a useful M4 next to yours, while Draza uses the same rifle. For a bit you will have to treat the fight like any other, with the key difference being that Draza has an immense amount of health. From time to time he will throw a grenade, forcing you out of cover, and also rush you for a melee attack. Use this opportunity to turn it around on him. Nate will win a fistfight by using the counter (Triangle) option whenever the two combatants slow down.

You can also swap places with Draza, using his cover to reload your M4 and grab the grenade on-top of it. Eventually he will lose his helmet, at which point you can finish him off by starting another fistfight, which will turn out longer and eventually turn into a QTE where you must press Square on time to finally defeat Draza. Doing so starts a cutscene, which ultimately leads to the next chapter "Train-wrecked".

Behind the scenes[]

"Drake's on a Train" was the original title for this chapter. As with all chapter titles, it was thought of by lead game designer Richard Lemarchand. However, the title had to be changed to "Tunnel Vision" for the full release of the game.[1]
