Expeditions: Atlantic City, also known simply as Fallout 76: Atlantic City, is a series of updates for Fallout 76. It was preceded by Once in a Blue Moon. It was released in two waves of updates, the first of which, Boardwalk Paradise, released on December 5, 2023. The second update, America's Playground, released on March 26, 2024.[1][2][3] America's Playground will be followed by Skyline Valley.[4]

It features the eponymous Atlantic City in the second Expedition for the game.[5] Boardwalk Paradise (patch 48) introduced Atlantic City via two new Expedition missions. America's Playground (patch 50) implemented open exploration of Atlantic City and three new main quests within it.[6][3]

This page serves as an overview of both updates, Boardwalk Paradise and America's Playground, even as they were released at different intervals, providing a combined look at the Atlantic City content added from December 2023 - March 2024. Update-specific overviews can be found at the respective pages for Boardwalk Paradise and America's Playground.

Behind the scenes[]

The Road to Atlantic City trailer, which announced the update, references the lyrics of the 1982 song "Atlantic City" by Bruce Springsteen. The line "Put your Rad-Shield on and fix your hair up pretty, because we're headed for the boardwalk of Atlantic City" refers to the lyric "Put your makeup on and fix your hair up pretty, and meet me tonight in Atlantic City."

Flakles: "I'm sure you guys must see players in the community constantly asking if we can get a more open world, traditional fallout DLC experience from expeditions, something like Far Harbor being the constantly echoed request. And I'm sure you guys must've at least experimented with it already - My question is, what sort of things would hold a choice like that back?
Maybe definitively providing a 'why not' will put the matter to rest among the community."

Joshua Moretto: "Hi, Flakles. While we continue to expand the places players can visit outside our map, the focus of Fallout 76 is and remains Appalachia. That said, players will be able to visit Atlantic City for traditional story quests and exploration outside of Expeditions in Patch 50."
