Vault suit is the most basic element of clothing in Fallout 2.

Background[]

Main article: Vault suit

A form-fitting suit model manufactured as single piece coveralls from extruded rubber, easy to keep clean and quite resilient. Compared to other models, this version of the jumpsuit is quite rudimentary.[1] Despite the rubber material, the jumpsuit could be pressed to enhance its appearance.[2]

This model of the suit was used by at least some of the dwellers of Vault 13. It may have also been used by other Vaults, such as Vault 70, and citizens of the Enclave on the oil rig, and the citizens of Vault City, though those did not include a number on the back.[3][4]

Characteristics[]

The Vault suit is the most basic element of clothing and acts as the base "skin" for the player character. The black-haired variant has all the frames for using weapons and can equip them freely. The African American variant, red haired variant, and the Lynette variant can only use unarmed attacks, since it has no corresponding animation frames.

The player character does not start with the Vault suit, and obtaining it from the Temple of Trials is the very first objective in the game.

The Vault suit in the game has an additional function: If the player removes all armor from their character in front of Wallace, they will instantly issue a day pass and ask them to go to Lynette.
