Can you please give me premission to chat again i was showing people diffrent videos.

Permaban[]

And yet I am choosing to. And considering how the user involved has been warned multiple times (by Ausir as well) and has even threatened other users with death threats in the past, I hardly think it's unjustified. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 17:09, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Emitters[]

I wouldn't consider them nicknames, they are the sounds that they use for different effects. For example, sonic emitter - opera singer uses a holotape of a opera singer to modulate the sound for a different effect. Same with the rest of the emmiters, they are simply descriptive names of there differences. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:11, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

With roil, you don't actually take into account the single word, you take into account the full Resla Roil. That I would consider to actually be a nick name, just like Wazer Wifle is. Other wise both Resla and Roil should be decapped. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:14, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Special:RecentChanges[]

There are changes planned which address most of your concerns (which I share, by the way). Makes me wonder why Wikia fails to anticipate problems like this again and again (it's not really surprising admins wouldn't like the lack of navigation/full screen width)... -- Porter21 (talk) 08:29, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

Re: the edits[]

Hiya, Hiya!

As for the infoboxes and characteristics: They're certainly incomplete if they don't have a base id, related quests, etc. With the characteristics, I know that I certainly like knowing exactly what an item's going to do when used and I'm not alone in that.

I argue both of these because we're not the best wikia on the web because we do "good enough" work and leave it at that with important information missing, we're the best because our mission is to be the most comprehensive guide to everything Fallout Anywhere. Ever. Because God Bless The Vault, Dammit! And No Where Else!

As for these items not being "Quest Items", there is nothing in the policies and guide lines for item saying that an item, or anything else, for that matter must be marked in the GECK as being a QI for it to ACTUALLY BE a QI as far as qualifying as a quest item. Without these items, you can't complete the quest. Is that not the very definition of a quest item? Going further, there is anything on that page which even mentions the GECK in regards to anything.

Thank you for your time,

-- The Arcadian Rook(talk)(Needs More Battle Cattle) 18:45, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

The Quest Item topic is one that seems, to me at least, that should be debated, where should I post to start such a debate?

-- The Arcadian Rook(talk)(Needs More Battle Cattle) 20:39, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

And I, respectfully, disagree with your assertion that it must be noted in the GECK as such for it to qualify here as a quest item and which is why I want to put it to a debate and why I'm asking you where and how best I can do so. If it's the forums, I'm not very familiar with how forums work. Of course, until such a time comes and the matter is settled, I'm not going to note any more such items as quest items.

As always, I thank you for the time you're taking to address this matter.

Nightkin sub-category[]

Hello. Billy, Kastera and I were discussing the possibility of creating a Nightkin sub-category. At the moment, nightkins are placed under the Super Mutant category, but I feel that the two aren't exactly the same thing. What's your opinion on creating a Nightkin category to place all the Nightkin characters under? Yes Man default 23:49, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

Bedankt!

Hehe funny coincidence, you are born on 8th October, me on 9th ;). For the rest, I'm born in 89 but it would be strange if this is the same case for you =). Itachou [~talk~] 21:10, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

As you wish, but I'm still curious, may be during a tchat =). Hehe in fact the demo was released in 97 so I have already 7 years old, but I knew Fallout in 96 thanks to my brother who subscribed to Joystic, a French magazine when I have 6 years old (and I saw Mad Max at the same age so I was already prepared, and a post-apo fan). Hi Jspoel[]

I was wondering if you had time for a few 'personal' questions. I say it like this because they are not about the Vault, but don't worry they are not about you personally either. I was wondering if you could tell me more about Holland and places you might recommend visiting, national landmarks etc. Also, don't worry, I know Holland is a region of the Netherlands, and it is Holland I wish to visit. Only if you have the time :). TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 22:57, August 19, 2011 (UTC).

P.S. Have you seen the line at the top of the page?

Oh yeah, turns out it was a calendar. It didn't open up yesterday :). I completely agree. I think Wikia is taking a wrong turn with all these new features. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag
No I meant like Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland. Would you advise going to the Hague? And do you know of any palaces that are open to the public? This Madurodam looks great, it really quite an inventive idea too; we have miniture cities and the like, but none as extravagant, detailed and all-encompassing as this. I think that will really be worth a look, thanks Jspoel. Do you now of any idyllic towns and intersting places outside of the cities? Thanks for your time, TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 19:00, August 20, 2011 (UTC).

I got your message, thanks. Sector 36 16:26, August 21, 2011 (UTC)Sector 36

Not, sure if you've seen this? If you don't want to talk to me, please say. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag
Well, thanks to you I'm going to have agreat holiday now :). Thanks a lot Jspoel, even though its only short, I should be able to fit those in. It seems to me, by looking into the places that you have shown me, that your country is extremely beautiful, and no only filled with tulips and windmills. And I will definitely want to see the Waterworks too, being part the largest reclaiming operation in history. Do you suggest I learn a little more Dutch too? Its only for a few days, but it is nice to be polite. Go raibh maith agat Jspoel :). TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag
Oops, sorry I got my languages mixed up, that's thank you in Gaelic (Irish). Haha, maybe not the French :). So you wouldn't find it too impolite? That looks like something out of Hansel and Gretel or something, very beautiful. I always have time to fit in an extra castle ;). (History is one of my greatest passions by the way.) Thanks to you, I'm sure I will. Bedankt is what I was after if I remeber correctly. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag
Yes it would be a big mistake to speak in Gaelic, a lot of the Irish don't even understand outside of the Gaeltacht ;). And believe me, I will have all the patience in the world if they are kind enough to let me speak my own language in their/your country :). Well thanks for all of you advice and help Jspoel, I've had a great time researching this and talking to you. I hope to speak to you again soon, TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 22:48, August 21, 2011 (UTC).
Also, you may want to add to this as I remember discussing it with you :).

I've noticed that some weapons have sounds from the wrong game. Old World Blues[]

It is actually the {{abb}} template that is at fault here, so it effects everything that uses abbreviation. It runs a lot deeper than a simple fix and requires Porter to fix. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:12, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Its more about how templates interact with each other, it goes beyond my ability. I may take a stub at it and luck out, but it will take a while. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:20, August 23, 2011 (UTC)
Na I noticed a while back when you asked me to change the links with the bot. But low and behold, I have figured out, now I have to do a lot by adding a new mode to the {{abb}} template. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:27, August 23, 2011 (UTC)
Should all be sorted, not only for OWB but also The Pitt, Zeta etc. However the job que length is 44,115. So it is going to be a while before the what links here is updated properly (last time it took 2 days to cache all the pages). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:44, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Yeah, I fixed all the add-on links for the abb template. I am now fixing a few other templates, like the overview template in Assault rifle, that was linking to The Pitt instead of The Pitt (add-on). If you know of any more, just let me know.

As for the bot I am constantly running it and adding to it (its why you see little action on my main account), to be honest I don't think it will ever be done the amount that actually needs to be added to it, took me over a week just to add FNV weapons to the decap, not looking forward to adding misc item. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:53, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yes and No, In the current format you wouldn't really be able to, because it is all saved and runs from my PC in a setting file. However, the bot does supports a common usage by running off a community page for corrections. You can see an example for wikipedia here. However you would need to learn some basic 'common expressions' to be able to add to it. But it might be worth while if others decide to get involved, as everyone could essentially be running the same bot (basically, one person adds a correction and it is pasted to everyone using the same bot). I will have to think of a few solutions for this maybe. The other main issue I suffer from is false positives, the main one is images where the file name is capped. So I am unable to leave the bot unattended. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:32, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Weapon sounds[]

You only want to go 2 wide on the sounds, as they stretch out when played and will move off to the side of the page. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:19, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Which browser are you using. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:46, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
That explains it, since IE doesn't have a inbuilt player, it uses the Cortado player instead, which doesn't suffer from any size increase. I would suggest trying it in either Chrome or FF to see what I mean. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:50, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Talk:Ol' Painless[]

Whats with the redirect? User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:38, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

But nothing links to it [1]. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:41, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that's an issue with the Ajax for the {{Archives}} template. It cause it to show as a wanted page, when in fact it isn't. It is something I need to speak to Porter about, as it is essentially count up the pages until it hits a page that doesn't exists. From that it displays the links on the main page in the template. For some reason it is linking to the next unused archive page, but not showing a link. This confuses wikia to thinking that it is actually a wanted page. Now that you have created that page, tomorrow it will show Ol' Painless/Archive 3 is wanted. If you create that, it will then go to Ol' Painless/Archive 4 and just keep going in a never ending cycle. I need help[]

Sorry to bother you, but I need help editing a page, and I thought you were the best person to ask. I am trying to add the Great Khans as a faction in the Mojave Campaign page, but I change to change the information box to add them. If you could, can you fix this problem?

Stained page[]

I am just trying something out for the dead money page, you will see when you notice a big removal of info from the dead money page. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:31, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

What do you think, I have now done Dead Money page to copy the info from the respective category page for all the item, characters etc. That way it is always up to date with the pages. Might try it for lonesome road, that way, as soon as a page is created and added to the cat, it is also added to the Lonesome Road add-on page. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:48, August 26, 2011 (UTC)
As for the Mojave Campaign, hmm, that's tough since it should by all rights be added, but the formatting would look awful. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:48, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Well there are 2 ways to make it wider. You can change the template, but this will affect all pages that use the template. Or you can force it wider by using the px parameter and extending the image size beyond the normal size (however this will not work once the new infobox comes into play). The other issue your going to have is you are then squeezing the text as well.

Font size is affected by the main CSS file. Changing that would change every infobox (items, weapons, creatures etc.) User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:28, August 26, 2011 (UTC)
Bullet??? User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:29, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Fallout Answers[]

Hello Jspoel :)

You may have heard that The Vault's sister site, Fallout Answers, recently opted for Wikia to initiate an IP block, effectively blocking all IP addresses from editing pages for at least two weeks. In the time that I and the bureaucrat have, we would like to add upon the team over on the sister site.

At the moment, there are only two users with administrative privileges who regularly are online. In order to make the site more effective and efficient, I have been tasked with finding trusted users that can take some time (maybe 5-10 minutes) from their normal Wikia schedule to keep an eye on the site from time to time. This will potentially cut down on site traffic and allow "real" questions to be asked and answered in more depth. Through my past interactions with you, I feel that the bureaucrat and I can trust you with administrative privileges.

If you feel comfortable joining the team, please leave a message on my talk page and let me know your decision. Best regards, Kastera (talk) 16:00, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

I'm hoping that the bureaucrat is thinking long and hard about what do after the expiration, while I'm finding more admin candidates. Who knows? Maybe we'll keep the IP block on. The job has gotten much easier ever since the anons stopped posting gibberish and repeated information.
Yes, I'm glad that we have a Wikia staff member on the team. I am never taking that for granted again.

Stashes images[]

Sorry, my bad. As for the page, the simple fact is, the information is valid, but the actual page isn't. Having it on the hollowed out page will actually gain it more exposure. But I still thing the last message on the talk page says it best.

I think the information would be of more use to the player if it were dispersed to the related Sierra Madre location pages in the Notable Loot sections.

For example, if you're in Puesta del Sol and searching for loot, that's the page you go to, not here.

I can see SaintPain's idea, but finding these marks is a self-imposed challenge not included in the game (unlike Dean's stashes) with no reward, or even indication that it exists to the casual gamer.

The information is useful, but no more so than the locations of the "I'm so sorry you're here" graffito loot, or Madre casino chips. Putting it on the relevant location page would seem to make the most sense.

All the best, --FourWayDiablo 13:46, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

SaintPain is just very protective of his creation and simple wants to keep it because of that. This wiki isn't about personal pride, it is about sharing the information and how best to do that. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:27, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Capitalization, or not?[]

Hello Jspoelstra.

Should the "stealth suit Mk II" be capitalized to "Stealth Suit Mk II" in text or not? The question follows on from edits on the X-13: Attack of the Infiltrator! and Project X-13 pages. Thanks for your time.

I didn't remove the bug as far as I know (unless I snipped it accidentally). I cleaned up the pages as they both had the same information instead of being two quests. The problem seemed to be the shared first objective (see the Talk pages). I moved notes and bugs between the two pages, so I may have "dropped" it along the way. But that was a few days ago. I'll check the history. --FourWayDiablo(talk) 19:36, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

  • There was a "verification overdue" tag on the bug, but I didn't remove it. Looks like it was Great Mara (unless I misread the history).--FourWayDiablo(talk) 19:56, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks(Nemerian 19:37, August 31, 2011 (UTC))

Miss Nicolle[]

That was a mistake, I keep hitting rollback instead of mark as patrolled. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:04, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry[]

Jspoel, this will seem trivial and will probably annoy you, but I've forgotten how to archive my talk page. Could you remind me please? Just you're the only person I know to a resonable degree around how is reliable and I know will help. Sorry if this bugs you. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag

Oh, so I wasn't just being stupid. Thanks Jspoel. Have a good night :). TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag

Re Again~ Lovers Mark stashes[]

The for the afore unnamed " Lover's mark stashes " used to be it's own page..

I am sure all listed " Lover's Marks are there, I replayed through dead moneny to serarch no less than 5 times.

I will look at the Hollowed-out rock page again.. Maybe some direction got lost in the merger.

P.S. found it PuestaDelSo S.jpg That is the mark that is closest to the short cut to Deans Strike Up the Band site.. It is correct.

  • P.P.S. ~

Salida del Sol south- Directions, Exit the south gate from Salida del Sol north into Salida del Sol south, then immediately turn right. Behind the 5th pillar the Courier will finde another Lover's mark and food items. Note: Across the courtyard due southeast is a poison cloud. Run through it, down a short hall, then trough the broken wall and up flights of stairs to the roof where Dean Domino 's Strike Up the Band quest is set.

Yeah, they are all mentioned in some way. Two of them have unused repair list and the third is mentioned in a script (if I remember correctly, a script for Miss Fortune). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:44, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

ED-E my... what is that?[]

Hello Jspoelstra,

On the ED-E My Love page, there's a section I don't know what to do with. In the detailed walkthrough there's an "unknown log" section. It's tagged and doesn't look like it should be visible on the page, but I didn't want to delete/move it without checking.

Any advice appreciated, --FourWayDiablo(talk) 18:07, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. I won't be able to replay the quest for a while, so I'll leave it on and try to tidy it up for now.
All the best, --FourWayDiablo(talk) 12:34, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Blog comment[]

The comment was conveying my thought on the subject; many of those people wanted DE and other weapons from CoD, so I was poking fun about those types of people. Maybe I went over-the-top, but it is not "non-sense". If I had said that I like to eat bananas while I draw pictures of dead puppies, than that would be nonsensical and unrelated whatsoever. But whatever. --Living Lifeless 9 19:38, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Revert[]

I reverted it since it's quite obvious, and quite implied. Basically you can sell Arcade to Caesar during the so called "private talk", and what the note says is that you can't afterwards. I felt that was a bit overstating the obivous, feel free to put it back in. On the note of Rollback, I talked to Ausir and according to him he's not handing out more rollbacks until the "Moderator" vote goes through, and it has yet to be officialised. When it passes, I'll be applying for Moderator, don't you worry =P. Hugs Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 22:41, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Alrighty, so I was clicking on the Random Page button, looking for something to do on the wiki, when I accidentally clicked on the Recent changes button. I saw, among other things, next to changes that were made numbers like (+50), (+89) or (-1)

What's all that about?

Thanks!

He has evaded his block before and posted crap on various pages. Ideally, it seems that a block on his account doesn't mean anything. I'll revert it if it makes everyone happy, but someone who has continuously evaded blocks and still acts they way he has in the past deserves more than a second 2 week block on this account.--Kingclyde 18:13, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with your reasoning, and if his slate had been clean before this incident I would have done 3 days and called it good. Since he's already had a 2-week block before for a similar offense, and somewhat recently, I chose the next-higher selectable length which was one month. --Kris User Hola 22:26, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

He came on with an anon account and posted stuff on my page as well as his if I remember right. The stuff he posted was something alone the lines of "you blocked me but I can still get thru". Food on NPC effects[]

Hi, Jspoel. In Fallout 3, after Take it Back, most of the Pride had bad injuries, and after a few in-game days, I've noticed most of their health bars went back to full again, and I noticed Kodiak removed his helmet and lost his missile launcher, and Gallows lost his Plasma Rifle and went back to his old Laser Rifle. Were they reset? Or do the mirelurk cakes you see any typical NPC eat actually restore their health? Death From AboveUnbroken Steel -Talk- 23:04, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

Welcome back[]

Thanks, although I'm not really back yet - merely back home for a day because I have an appointment here tomorrow, then leaving again. My brother's wedding is on Saturday, but the preparations are finally finished - hopefully things will go smoothly (unless I forget the rings) :)

Just trying to patch up various scripts after Wikia's change to user pages while I'm here. Credit for AdvancedOasisUI's Dutch translations goes to User:MarkvA who added them over at w:c:dev; my proficiency at speaking Dutch is approximately 0 :P

Good to hear things have been going smoothly. Don't worry about the decline in editing activity; that's pretty normal and happened around the same time after FO3 release as well.

You'll be pleased to hear I've been working on the map stuff a bit already even if I haven't uploaded anything yet. Once I'm back from holiday, it shouldn't be too long until it's done (unless I run into unforeseen problems, of course). -- Porter21 (talk) 18:20, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

Turnip in article[]

Why did the Xander root text and picture sneak into the pool cue page? xD. Did you have it copied or was it a faulty gamearticle template? Either way, hilarious. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Ah, I see. I usually work by having three similar articles up when I do a big project. One which I empty and then actually edit, the same page with the old code to work from, and another page of the same type to mimic. Well, at least the cues are turnip free now xD. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Stuff[]

Sorry, I thought that was the proper form if you wanted to link an article & the articles text was different than the article title.

Basically all I was doing was to make it consistent, as some had a 'buildings' subcategory and some didn't. I do think it would be better to have a subcategory for it, especially when one considers characters and quests being added, the category can get a little messy. However, that is up to the admins. Would you prefer to have all buildings/areas within a location listed in that locations category? I just want consistency, and will work on it no matter the format requested, I just need to know what is desired before I continue working on it. AFollower 03:26, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I will use that judgement when I am categorizing, thank you for the clarification. AFollower 03:36, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

There is a Category page for Camp Nelson, should that be removed then? It is also referred to as Camp Nelson in another article as well. And sorry again, I wasn't sure if that was necessary, it seemed correct to me. (Also there is no 'Nelson' category) AFollower 03:49, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll keep on moving through the categories. Let me know if you see anything blatantly incorrect, I'm trying my best to follow format. AFollower 04:02, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Crimson Caravan Company[]

Can you have a look at the Crimson Caravan camp category? Seems to me it should be renamed (to Crimson Caravan Company), and there is a redundant subcategory, ('Crimson caravan camp characters' vs. 'Crimson Caravan characters'). Thanks. AFollower 04:25, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, not a problem.

yea i know typin to fast lol so sos

Fallout 2 location images[]

Jspoelstra,

I understand the rational behind resizing images for some Fallout 2 locations. I do not understand why you see it necessary or favorable to alter the contrast or color balance of these images. Surely the goal of the wiki is to provide the best information possible, i.e. as it appears in-game.

I respectfully disagree with the changes that you have made.

Project[]

Well, I don't expect that someone will answer in about half an hour. Guess I need to learn that.

As for the project, I think we could replace ranks from people of BoS and Caesar's Legion (maybe even NCR and Enclave). For instance, if a rank is Paladin, we could write down warrior. If it is a Knight, then put soldier (although in Fallout we need to put repairman because that's their purpouse at 2162). That makes people not to revert edits, but perhaps some previous projects need to have their goal achieved. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 20:29, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

That's EXACTLY what I thought. We could write down on role things like scientist (rank Scribe), soldiers (Kinghts, non-Fallout, as in Fallout they are repairsmen) and so on. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 11:40, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

MS .44 magnum[]

Looking at it, there are a minor details. Firstly the rate of fire is greater in FO3, meaning the DPS is all different as well. Plus it does has the benefit of not confusing readers with game mechanics that don't apply to FNV (different ammo types and jury rigging). Other than that, there is much difference other than the visual and sound differences.

With the turrets, I think it might be better to change it to turrets. Saves confusion with automatic turrets referring to all kinds and a also specific variant. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:14, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

If we keep them separate, then yes it should be (with the main page being redirect to the variant section in the .44 overview page). A part of me think we should keep it separate to keep clarity of info for the readers. Another part says, these differences are to minor to actually have separate pages when there is redundant info between the two pages. I would probably field some views from other valued editors, to make sure we are going down them right path with keeping them separate or combining them. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:37, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
P.S. Not bureaucrat talk, I am generally impressed with how the page looks and feels =D

Project[]

Just in case you haven't noticed (if you haven't noticed), I want to do exactly like you said, as that was the "base" of the idea - that said, we could apply adding roles (like soldier) to persons who have Knight rank. This applies to factions like BoS, NCR and Caesar's Legion. If you have any questions, then just write them down (on my talk page, logically).
