Quest from Preston Garvey?[]

How do you get this quest from Preston Garvey? It says you can get the quest from him, but there are no details. I've tried to figure it out, but I couldn't get Preston to say anything about the Nuka-World raiders. This needs to be on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MasonRacin (talkcontribs) 20:11, September 9, 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Hmm, sounds like a bug. You can get the quest from Mackenzie definitely. However, getting the quest from Preston I am not sure if that is actually possible right now. I'll have to check in with Preston at the Castle, if he doesn't talk my ears off about (another settlement that needs my help) any possible scolding for becoming Overboss before raiding any settlements. It seems he doesn't comment on that. Definitely not the ideal companion to take to Nuka-World, of course. There's Gage for that. Here's a section title to organize this a bit better. Unable to progress quest[]

Unable to attack or kill any of the raider bosses? Is there a quest that will block you from progressing on this mission? --Arthurh3535 (talk) 22:47, September 17, 2016 (UTC)

Kill all the Raiders? Clear the park?[]

So, if you decide to wipe out the leaders, do you have to kill all the raiders in every park if you have taken them? And if you just kill them right away, without dealing with the other zones, do you have to still clear them, or will they all be immediately changed to the post-clear state? Nude traders getting dressed again?[]

Is there a way to get the merchants to put their clothes back on after they start showing up naked? I mean, it's funny to see these people walking around with no clothes on and things getting stuck where they don't belong. But it gets old after a while. So, is there a way to undo this bug once it starts other than recycling all the actors? Field Marshall Phoenix Hawk, CO 41st Corsairs RCT (The Black Hawks) (talk) 00:47, December 16, 2016 (UTC)

I would assume you can try to talk to them to open the trade window and use the Equip option (T)? --Arthurh3535 (talk) 00:55, December 18, 2016 (UTC)

Murder and Assault Count[]

First killing any one of the leaders will land you 1 murder and 1 assault count in stats. Subsequent kill after all raiders having turned hostile won't affect the counts. If you are a sneaky guy with high sneak attack you can kill one of the leaders without turning him/her hostile first (4 quick successive attack will turn him/her hostile). Then the assault count is 0 but murder count is still 1.

Side or Main quest[]

I was of the opinion that Open Season should be considered a main quest because of its role in the Nuka-World main questline. Users Great Mara and Jspoelstra moved Open Season as a side quest since "Open Season ID is formatted like Nuka-World side quests and is akin to other faction kickout quests in the base game". Unless a discussion comes up, Open Season will stay a side quest. For further reference, here is the Nuka-World "main questline" tree:

Nuka-World main questline
All Aboard
Taken for a Ride
Open Season
An Ambitious Plan
The Grand Tour (including A Magical Kingdom, A World of Refreshment, High Noon at the Gulch, Safari Adventure, Star Control
Home Sweet Home
Power Play
Reward: Nuka-World Red Rocket as a settlement
Power is restored: access to locked areas

Two corpse bug[]

There are always two corpses never get despawned or cleaned up properly if you do this quests. The bodies of Mason, Mags Black, Nisha, Shank, Lizzie, Gage and Dixie never disappear. That's okay probably because they are main characters. William Black's body will disappear.

But there are always two corpses stay on forever. 2 in the market, 2 in Nuka Town Usa just outside of the market, 2 in Nuka Town near the pool in front of Fizztop Mountain, 2 in the cafe, 2 in Bradberton Amphitheater etc.

I actually tried the cafe fight 2 or 3 times for some reason. Each time leaving Nuka-World then came back, the cafe always remained 2 corpses never got cleaned up. Strange bug. 12:12, November 29, 2017 (UTC)

Are the bodies that don't disappear of random raiders or are they named bodies? If they're random raiders it may just be that the cell resets take longer than you expect.

I am noticing this, am on Xbox One and some of the raider's bodies don't disappear after Open Season. Eddo36 (talk) 02:10, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
Could you check if they despawn after having left Nuka-World for 30 in-game days? Make sure not to return to Nuka-World in the meantime.
- FDekker talk 08:35, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
I waited 31 days in Sanctuary. Current corpse count upon return to Nuka-World: Shank, 3 Packs and 1 Operator corpses outside of Market, plus 1 living Operator who seemed to have respawned. 2 Operator corpses in Parlor. Cappy's Cafe and interior of Market are clear of corpses. Mason plus 2 Pack corpses in Amphitheater, plus one living pack dog that respawned. 2 Pack corpses in Backstage section of Amphitheater. Nisha and 2 Disciple corpses in Fizztop Mountain. Even Overboss Colter's body is there in Nuka-Cars. I will note that I had left Lizzie, Dixie, and Savoy alive in my playthrough and killed just the bosses and all the generic raiders. Mods I had active: Unofficial FO4 Patch, Cheat Terminal (only use it to spawn weapons/armor and for leveling, didn't do anything I thought might interfere), Loyal Porter Gage (so didn't kill Gage). And I did Open Season right at the start of Home Sweet Home (killed Shank first). Eddo36 (talk) 15:36, September 12, 2018 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Welp, that certainly looks like corpses don't respawn. I'm not sure if it's a bug or intended, so I think we should add this as a note. Would you agree?
- FDekker talk 18:01, September 12, 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, I also posted on Nexus UFO4P page in case they can add a way to clean up the corpses in Nuka-Town. Eddo36 (talk) 18:44, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
Would be nice if they could fix it. Shouldn't be too hard, I think.
Which areas are affected, exactly? And is it only for the raiders killed in this quest?
- FDekker talk 20:22, September 12, 2018 (UTC)
The area of certain raider corpses not cleaning up only happen in Nuka-Town USA, and it's various interior locations (Parlor, Amphitheater, Fizztop Mountain). Most of the bodies disappear, but there are a few that don't, which I listed in post above. I only notice it after completing Open Season quest because that's this is the quest where you leave a lot of raider bodies behind there. Eddo36 (talk) 01:58, September 13, 2018 (UTC)
I haven't played Nuka-World (yet), so it took me some more time to figure out which cells are which. Anyway, I looked in the Creation Kit and found that DLC04NukaTownUSAZone explicitly contains the setting "Never Resets", so I guess that explains it. I've added it as a note to the Nuka-Town USA page.

Is Preston re-recruitable if the quest is not obtained from him?[]

After all this time, I still don't find any information on that one. Is his dialogue restored if you were already aligned with the Minutemen and can you do the Nuclear option? HomerDOHSimpson (talk) 22:24, February 2, 2018 (UTC)

Have you taken any settlements with the raiders before completing Open Season? Or was Preston with you when you went to Nuka World? A lot of factors will contribute to Preston not wanting to associate with the sole survivor and you won't be able to recruit him as a companion again. Rebel427 ~ I'll be your huckleberry 23:45, February 2, 2018 (UTC)
In the last game (no saves anymore) the Institute was already destroyed and i never got to the point of finishing Open Season. In my current game i have not yet made my way to the Commonwealth because i want to finish it with the Minutemen but have also 8 Raider settlements at that point. I also mentioned Nuclear Option above.HomerDOHSimpson (talk) 02:08, February 3, 2018 (UTC)
I would go retake those settlements for the Minutemen if at all possible, then talk to Preston and see if he has anything to say other than he's done with you, if that doesn't work then the Minutemen ending won't be an option for you on that character unless you revert to a previous save to before you took settlements with the raiders. Miscellaneous Quests "Collect Gang's Haul" not cleared if Open Season already started.[]

Open Season bug

If the Open Season quest is started while The Grand Tour quest is extant (i.e., the "Gang's Haul" has not yet been collected from any of the locations), then the miscellaneous quests "Collect your gang's haul from [location]", will not clear despite then collecting the gang's haul.

Possibly this is because the gangs become hostile once Open Season begins and, although the "gang's hauls" are still there and are collectible, they are technically no longer yours?

Therefore, ensure to collect the gang's stash from each assigned location before beginning Open Season in order that the miscellaneous quest are cleared.

The Blacks seem to be essential[]

I tried doing Open Season and when I got to the Parlor to kill the Blacks both of them seem to be marked as essential. Even using console commands won't kill them or de-essential them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gruetopia (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Porter Gage hostile?[]

I completed the raider questline all the way because I wanted the perks, then did Open Season afterwards because I wanted to reclaim my Commonwealth settlements. Fritcsh remained friendly, but Gage attacks on sight even after leaving Nuka-World and coming back after several days. Another odd thing is that since I romanced him, he still gives the Lover's Embrace perk if I sleep at Fizztop Grille (and then he immediately attacks...) I don't really want to kill him, though I guess it doesn't actually matter. Anyone else have this issue? (playing on Xbox One, so no commands for me...)
