I'm so glad I finally caught up with you!

MrIn-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar Prize-bot is a unique Mister Handy found in the Prizewinner scene-type random encounter in Fallout 76.

Background[]

The Vault Dwellers will occasionally be approached by Mr Prize-bot in random encounters, claiming the dwellers have won a prize from the Great Appalachian Sweepstakes. It will then select a single prize at random to give to the player: one of three different G.A.S. prize certificates, 50 or 100 pre-War money, a silver pocket watch, a gold pocket watch, a silver locket, or a basic pistol or rifle.

After giving the Vault Dweller their prize, he will then read off a disclaimer or other caveat to them, such as an outstanding fee or that their personal information will be shared without their consent, before wishing them well and leaving.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Based on the editor ID of this character (RE_ScenePS03_Robot), the Mr Prize-bot and its associated random encounter were created by quest designer Phil Speer.
  • One of the potential lines at the end of Mr Prize-bot's dialogue is "Notice: we've updated our privacy policy." This is a reference to similarly-worded notifications from real-world websites, apps, and other software, as such services must often disclose when their privacy policies are updated.
    • Prior to Fallout 76's release in 2018, privacy policy notifications became an online meme as a result of many companies and websites complying with the passage of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union in May 2018. The line from Mr Prize-bot appears to have been influenced by this meme, based on the real-world timing.
