"Just Fine" is a 1952 song written and perfomed by Michael Brown.

A 1962 recording of the song is featured in the Fallout TV series episode "The Ghouls", in the scene where Reg McPhee and Woody Thomas are hanging their candidate posters before the Vault 33 overseer election.

Background[]

The song was originally written for the industrial musical J.C. Penney 1952 Show.[1] It was reused in 1960 for A Birthday Garland For Mr. James Cash Penney and in for the 1962 musical Penney Proud, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of the JCPenney company. The songs from these musicals were released on a promotional LPs.[2][3] The version used in the series, slightly different from the earlier ones, comes from the 1962 musical's LP.[4]

It was arranged and conducted by Norman Paris. The musical's cast included Ellen Martin, Michael Brown, Tom Mixon, Betty Ann Busch, Arthur Arney, Cynthia Wayne, Walter Farrell, Kenneth Nelson and the Robert Harter Singers, but it is uncertain which of them aside from Brown himself sang this particular song, as it is credited to "Michael Brown & Company".[5][2]

The song was licensed for Fallout from the Raleigh Music Group.[6]

Lyrics[]

Hello ladies, how are you?
(Just fine, just fine)
Hello fellas, how are you?
(Just fine)
It's real fine weather
When we all can get together
And we're all just fine, just fine

Are you glad that you are here?
(Oh yes, oh yes)
Do you really like it here?
(Oh yes)
We like so many
People gathered here for Penney
That we're filled happiness

Do you like the way they shake your hand?
(Yes we do)
Do you like the way they understand?
(Yes we do)
Do you like the things that they have planned?
(Yes we do)
Do you think that all the outfit's grand?

We say we hope that all of you
Are fine, just fine
And that ev'rything you do is fine
When we're together
Then the lark is in the heather
And we're all just fine, just fine!

Come on along with us
To anywhere at all
A place you're bound to love
For when you plant your feet
On that happy street
There'll be blue skies up above

Come on along with us
To anywhere at all
It's where you'll want to stay

If you're looking for people
Who never do frown
You're describing the people
In a Penney town

Come on along with us
To anywhere at all
A place you're bound to love

A big town, a small town
A wide town, a tall town
A sleepy town having a nap
A rich town, a poor town
It's our town and your town
It's heaven right there on the map!

Come on along with us
To anywhere at all
It's where you'll want to stay

If you're looking for people
Who never do frown
You're describing the people
In a Penney town

Come on along with us
To anywhere at all
A place you're bound to love

Do you like the way they shake your hand? (Yes!)
Do you like the way they understand? (Yes!)
Do you like the things that they have planned? (Yes!)
Do you think that all the outfit's grand?

We say we hope that all of you
Are fine, just fine
And that ev'rything you do is fine
When we're together
Then the lark is in the heather
And we're all just fine, just fine, just fine!

We're all (every one of us)
Just (every one of us) fine!
