What Slept Beneath is a side quest in Fallout 76, introduced in the Nuka-World on Tour update.
Background[]
The Nuka-World on Tour mechanic, Pete Myers, told the dwellers a story about some creature he saw over the hills, near an old mineshaft in the Ash Heap. He also asked them to go check it out, and see if they can find any evidence to help him convince the rest of the troupe that he is not lying. While there, he would like some supplies for his repairs, too.
Detailed walkthrough[]
After talking to Pete, players are sent to investigate abandoned mine shaft 2, to look for evidence of the creature. There is also an optional objective to find a box of air filter parts, for the air filters needed at the carnival. At the mine shaft, the players can interact with some ultracite crystals on a counter in the first level of the mine shaft's pods. With an Intelligence of 6 or above, it will display a message box giving some context.
The definitive evidence for the creature's existence is a holotape recording an encounter with the Ultracite Titan and the narrator's final moments. It is located on the corpse of Jack Woodhouse against the exterior walls of the lower pod. Once collected, players should return to Pete to turn the holotape in and help the troupe prepare for the inevitable showdown. This will take place if a nuke is dropped on the mine shaft, starting Event: Seismic Activity at the Nuka Launcher rollercoaster.
The optional objective to find supplies for the air filters can be completed by collecting the parts from a metal box on the first floor of the pods. Pete has different dialogue at the end of the quest depending on whether the supplies were found.
