Big Boss was a pre-War cigarette company.

Background[]

Big Boss cigarettes were a popular brand before the Great War, found across the United States, from Hopeville and Las Vegas to Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C.. They were also found in tourist destinations, like Pilgrim's Landing, Zion National Park, and the Sierra Madre Casino & Resort. In the latter case, they were compatible with the vending machines, which could break them down into chips and reconstitute at will.^[1]

Their trade dress included a combination of gold, red, and white colors, with a stylized font prominently displayed on the pack. The company was destroyed during the Great War, but enough of their product survived that it is found and still used by wastelanders.

Behind the scenes[]

The brand name "Big Boss" alludes to the popular stealth/action series Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid. One of the primary characters in both series is code-named Big Boss, and is nearly always portrayed smoking.
