Invisible blocks?[]

Save will not load correctly.[]

After spending much time on a world, I closed out minecraft, and then opened it about half an hour later, only to find that all minecraft would display upon opening my world, was my immediate inventory, and the transparent outline of one block, the rest being ungenerated, the game was also frozen. After about 15 seconds, minecraft would close. The title page still works fine. Re-install: Help[]

I want to re-install minecraft on my MAC OS X MACBOOK PRO. So I did. I expected a clean, empty (or organised) minecraft folder. But I still had my ModLoader and a few mods. How do i fix this? --Rocĸetor ^talk 07:21, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Linux instructions incomplete[]

I ran the linux instructions in a terminal in Kubuntu 10.04, the script throws an error when copying the backup but succeeds in deleting the folder. The result is that this script will permanently destroy your save. It is difficult, close to impossible, to fix, this results in either starting over or, if you pull the power supply from your system immediately and use a drive recovery disk, hours of picking through recently deleted files to find the one that is a minecraft save, likely by inode number.

In other words, a better script needs to be devised. I'm too busy restarting my minecraft world to be arsed with it though.

FYI, a simpler way to make it safe is to use "&&" instead of ";" so that the shell will stop on the first error. I've left your instructions, though, because it's probably better for the user to understand easily which command failed! Also, the original script is not "potentially malicious", it's just poorly written. Malicious would be if it was written with actual intent to harm. —KPReid 13:05, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

The last command to move the saves back seems to me to be both in the wrong place (positioned before starting Minecraft again to redownload rather than after), and incorrect, specifically that it copies back one level too high. The placement should be fine; Minecraft doesn't change the saves folder when it updates. You were right about the path, though. -- Orthotope 04:37, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Minecraft not installing[]

Hi. I've been trying to upload minecraft for a while now, but on the installation screen it freezes. I've tried uninstalling it, and forcing updates. I haven't downloaded any mods or texture packs. The only thing I've done is change my skin. If it helps, I have an Acer Aspire 5336 with a Dual-processor, with a 64-bit operating system and a gigabyte of RAM installed. Launcher not Starting[]

Hey guys. So I downloaded a few mods, one crashed my game, I saved my worlds, wiped all the .minecraft files out, knocked out the launcher, went online, and downloaded minecraft again. It downloaded, so I clicked and dragged it into my desktop, clicked on it, typed in my name and password, and then it said "cannot connect to minecraft.net". I was used to that, so I went down to press "play offline". It said "not downloaded" and I couldn't click to play offline!!!!! So I have tried this about 6 more times, using Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome. Same thing happens every time. PLEASE HELP 108.195.191.0 01:05, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

The launcher needs to re-download minecraft.jar and other files; it cannot do this when you're not online. After it has downloaded, you'll be able to play offline again. -- Orthotope 02:07, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

my inventory and amour have compleatly gone exept the things I was holding[]

Freezes at "Updating Minecraft" screen after logging in[]

I have been able to play with no problems up until I downloaded Forge so that I could install mods. I successfully logged in and all of the changes were made, showing the "Mods" bar next to the "Texture Packs" bar. However, after placing the Backpacks mod by Eydamos, downloaded from the url http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1492661-145-backpacks-v-154/, Minecraft freezes at the screen that says "Updating Minecraft" with the green progress bar at the bottom of the page. Not only that, the status directly above the bar says "Done Loading." It does this same thing even if I try to play it in-browser on Minecraft.net, not just from my desktop.

I'm having a similar problem to Orthotope in one of the previous posts, but not exactly the same. I hope that helps.

Same old OpenGL problem[]

Running XP sp3, video is Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family I've updated everything, fiddled with all the settings, and nothing has helped. Am I just out of luck (and my $27) -Jacob

Java runtime error messages[]

Hi 1 & all !

Getting sick & tired of trying to get around these infernal Java error messages (hs_err_pid1 & 2 & 3)every time I try & open up the game. Wether it's trying to play through my browser as a logged on player or just trying to play off line, all I get is a momentary BLACK screen & then nothing ! Tried all of the suggestions regarding reloading Java, reloading Minecraft, updating ATI drivers & changing the boot from Minecraft.exe to Minecraft.bat............... Nothing works ! I have been at this now for 9 hours & quite frankly I am about to throw this PC through the window & make a formal complaint to anyone who will listen. Got any REAL suggestions that actually work ???

Mac OS Lion, does't open[]

I have all updates, trying out the demo before buying. Registered, says it's downloaded, asks for permissions. I gave them and then nothing happens. Big empty white box. Any ideas?

I need mac/minecraft users help[]

I just bought my son his first Minecraft game for the computer. I installed it to my Mac and he can play it but on creative mode he cannot seem to be able to build on it. The controls say it would be the letter q to place items down but he keeps breaking into the ground. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?

Windows xp and Ubuntu One[]

I can't get the minecraft.exe to run using my laptop that have these programs. It saves all the files to the desktop but I can't get it to launch/run.

I'm having some problems with the Minecraft Launcher...[]

I was having problem playing minecraft such as constant crashes, freezing, etc. I decided to delete minecraft and the .minecraft folder as well. I forgot about the saves folder and what ever else Soon after, I went to minecraft.net and tried to re-download minecraft. That went well starting the launcher, I logged in to my minecraft account, clicked play, and once the update is done loading and all that, I get this text in the Development Console Saying: Warn: Found Local File But Not The Right Size. Had ####, Expected #### So...What about that, I know a lot a skill about minecraft but the launcher is what I don't understand. Can somebody please tell me what to do? I have Constantly downloaded minecraft about 3 times and it does the same thing... Please Help and Thank You

wrong lanquage[]

when we log in it is in a language we do not understand so are unable to play our game how can we change the language so we can play again

How to download MC?[]

It's so frustrating; I'm trying to buy MC. On the homepage I press *get MC* I'm asked to log in with my Mojang account. I do so, come to my account settings. Then choose MC under games, come back to MC homepage and I can start all over again. I am log in, now problem there, but now what? Every other place I look for help either I can't find the place to enter a post, or I have to make more accounts? Help a desperate mother.

Saved a link as a bookmark but doesn't work anymore. Help?[]

After several months of playing, it initially said something like 'Error 404' and something about the 'URL being broken' a few months back and now it says 'This webpage is not available.' Why would it do that? All you are changing is the way you start the game. –KnightMiner ^(t·c) 15:25, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

The installer extracts the launcher to 'C:/Program Files', nothing else. This will not change or remove your save data in 'AppData/Roaming/.minecraft'. Not to worry, Nali. -- Bb 20 ^(Edits)

Discord linking[]

Hey! Noticed that minecraft discord channel does not link to anywhere. There'd be two options for discord, though. There's the official MC discord (https://discord.gg/minecraft), and the support server (https://discord.gg/58Sxm23) which, while unofficial is linked by support. Which would be better?
