Template[]

I'm adding the template for Xbox 360 Edition, but it needs to be reinstated as a template for Console Edition, with ConsoleOnly as the logo. GameFreak667 (talk) 05:48, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

I thank whoever changed the template. But it says that split-screen and tutorial mode is exclusive to Xbox 360, which I'm sure are features that are also included in PlayStation 3 Edition, as well as the other two upcoming editions. That should be changed to just Exclusive Features that generalizes the features exclusive to all Console Edition. GameFreak667 (talk) 07:08, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Aether and Void?[]

A friend told me that TU100 adds in Emerald tools/armour and the Aether, and TU1000 adds in Obsidian/Bedrock/Void tools and an actual Void dimension, complete with Void 'Him' (name witheld 'cos wiki doesn't like it), who drops a hatchable Void Dragon Egg, the dragon from which can be tamed. Is this true? If so, how can we 'over-update' Minecraft Console Edition? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Crazytobuildmc (talkcontribs) at 14:45, 24 January 2015 (UTC). Do the console editions have access to the console?[]

From what I've seen and what I've been told, the answer is no, but I can't find a clear answer anywhere, not even on the wiki page. I may be overlooking something, but if the answer is no, shouldn't it be mentioned? Ariaandkia (talk) 19:03, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

The answer is a ‘no’. But it’s probably assumed as common knowledge for console players... Console commands are, ironically, not a console thing. Endy0822 (talk) 17:22, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

New in-game shot[]

The in-game screen shot of the Xbox 360 Edition is very outdated, as there's no XP bar below. Shouldn't it be updated? -|Pika Party|- 98.216.47.99 23:42, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

GSRR rating[]

The Taiwan Playstation store page shows that the GSRR rating of PS4 version is P(6+). What can we do about it? Clayblockiller (talk) 02:32, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

error in table[]

you put the xbox score in the PS column... --107.178.37.46 21:46, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, fixed! – Sealbudsman talk/contr 22:14, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Nintendo Switch[]

Should it be mentioned that a nintendo switch edition is going to be released?

I think we should make a separate article for it (Switch Edition?). — Nixinova 04:52, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
I think that would be good. It would match the fact that the other consoles have their own pages. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 14:22, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Nintendo Switch Nether size[]

I haven't checked this very thoroughly but in my experience with the Nintendo Switch version, the nether is ~512x512 and the ratio between Overworld and Nether is 1:6 (99.99% certain). A quick search suggests this is the same as the limits for the Medium map size on PS4/XB1. Which makes sense as that is the map size the Switch uses. The bit about the Nether being 1024x1024 on Switch is therefore wrong. Also Switch is mentioned, but PS4 and XB1 aren't which is inconsistent. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Ghdpro (talkcontribs) at 10:55, 22 May 2017 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

To test it, use a map in the Nether and see how far you can zoom out before you reach the edge. The BlobsPaper 01:10, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Version equivalence[]

@BDJP007301: Console Edition features concrete, concrete powder, glazed terracotta, dyed beds, parrots, shulker boxes, llamas, woodland mansions, treasure maps and iron nuggets, but it's not equivalent to 1.12 because the blog post doesn't say so, but to 1.10 instead? What's missing for equivalence with 1.12? | violine1101(Talk) 23:04, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

New noteblock sounds and advancements. -BDJP (t|c) 23:08, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
That's not much. Why not 1.11 though? | violine1101(Talk) 23:32, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Various wood items (bow, ladder, fishing rod, etc.) being used as fuel in furnaces. -BDJP (t|c) 23:52, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
That is very very minor, and advancements probably aren't going to come to console. – NixinovaBook and Quill Diamond Pickaxe Map (item) • 00:44, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
To be honest, I really don't think it's necessary to state version equivalence on any version at Console Edition version history. We don't state this for Pocket Edition, I don't see why Console Edition should be the exception. For example, scrolling down the TU9, the changelog looks ridiculously silly with about 1/2 the features being that of the next equivalent PC version up. GoandgooTalk

Beds[]

It would be greatly appreciated if someone with the Console Edition could check if beds can be redyed (as per the Pocket Edition), whether they are found in different colours in igloos and whether they have the Pocket Edition or Java Edition sprites. GoandgooTalk

Achievements[]

Rather than re-state all the achievements here, why not instead use the {{load achievements}} to just import them? It'll eliminate duplication of effort and things getting out of sync. Or possibly have a mode for that template that just grabs all achievements that have a YES for the console columns? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 17:23, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Italicized title[]

Why is an italicized title needed? – Dentedharp90041tce 15:11, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Rename it back[]

Mojang has never called it "Legacy Console Edition" and it is still called "Console Edition" on the bug tracker and other places. As far as I know the only times that "Legacy Console" has been used is on the feedback site which calls it "Minecraft (Legacy Console)" and the "Legacy Console Stream" coming next Wednesday. And on this article ("You made Better Together better than ever!" – Minecraft.net) the phrase "legacy Console Edition" is used, but note that the word "legacy" is lowercase and not used as part of the title. Because the name "Console Edition" is still used, it could be assumed that both uses of "Legacy Console" are simply to distinguish it from Bedrock for Xbox One: to make it clear for Xbox One players not to put feedback in the wrong section, and not to expect them to show XB1 Bedrock in the stream as they had done leading up to the BTU. It could be mentioned as an alternate name, but there is no reason to lengthen the titles on the Wiki when Mojang has not supplanted the "Console Edition" title with this one. Fo0dandDrug (talk) 15:32, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

This is an irrelevant argument as you named the same amount of times it mentions "Legacy Console" as it mentions "Console" – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe Map (item) 19:25, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
It's called "Minecraft: Legacy Console" here: https://feedback.minecraft.net/forums/344853-minecraft-legacy-console ...From what I can tell, Legacy Console Edition is the official name for the codebase now. Also, the bugtracker needs updating... there are things like the icon of the Bedrock project which need to be changed from the old-old Pocket Edition app icon to the current Bedrock icon, for example. SuperGeniusZeb (talk) 20:21, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Please see Minecraft Wiki:Projects/Renaming. On the talk page we discussed the need to rename Console Edition along with the other edition pages. HelenAngel recommended "Legacy Console Edition" as the new name for this page, and there was no strong dissent, so we adopted it. Since the question was discussed and the discussion ended without objection, it constitutes a consensus by default. If you want to reopen the discussion, I think it would be more appropriate to do so on the project talk page.
But let me address to your argument here. If we did as you suggest, "console edition" in contexts other than this page might denote either the old or the new version. Furthermore, the phrase "xbox one console edition" can be parsed in two ways, as either "xbox one" "console edition" or "xbox one console" "edition". (I'm deliberately omitting capitalization here because while you and I, as wiki editors, would understand its significance, many of our readers would not; they have either not yet learned the subtleties of proper nouns, or forgotten them after they finished their schooling. While we should lead by example, it's not our place to demand a higher level of academic competence from our readers.) These two parses have different semantics. Before the 1.2 update it didn't matter because either resolved to the same platform implementation, but this is no longer true. So we need a device that can prevent ambiguity, even if it seems forced. "Legacy Console Edition" fills the gap, because even though it doesn't eliminate the dual parse, the meaning of "legacy" automatically directs the reader to the older version. --– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 21:57, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
I withdraw my objection to the rename because these are good justifications. Fo0dandDrug (talk) 13:04, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Reviewing the page from the point of view of a reader previously familiar with the term "Console Edition", I think it does seem kind of opaque why we renamed it. It's unusual, but I think the page could use a brief note of explanation. I experimented and came up with this, which I inserted after the list of console platforms in the lead. What do everybody think about inserting it?

Previously, the simpler term "Console Edition" was used to refer to these, but with the release of the Better Together Update some of the platforms received an implementation of the Bedrock Edition as well. Since it no longer comprised all implementations for all consoles, the term was changed.

--– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 22:36, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

I suppose a brief note could be included, but I think we also have to remember that the "Console Edition" moniker previously used was a term created for use on the wiki (I'm not sure whether it was officially used by Mojang) and the Legacy Console Edition title simply continues in this vein. While "Console Edition" was created for use on the wiki as you say, it also happened to coincide with the banner used in marketing those implementations. Inevitably, our readers conflated the two, and now that we have changed ours but (AFAIK) marketing hasn't, I would expect it leaves some of them puzzled. What I had in mind is to reassure them that there wasn't anything more to it than us being cautious with our terms. --– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 00:34, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
The Minecraft Community Team called it Console Edition & now is calling it Legacy Console Edition. Not marketing, as we're not marketing- pretty sure it was never actually marketed as Console Edition. In common parlance? Absolutely and will continue to be as that's what we're using in our community messaging across the board. --HelenAngel (talk) 20:48, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
The name "Console Edition" is used in both the title of this trailer, as well as the logo at the end of this official trailer. I thought that was considered marketing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BWe4-9codw I mean, it was actually made into a logo... that's more than what has happened with the "Bedrock Edition" name so far. Since the official title of the Bedrock version of the game is just "Minecraft" with no subtitle, however, I wouldn't really expect to see a logo ever made with a "Bedrock Edition" subtitle. SuperGeniusZeb (talk) 00:09, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Italic words[]

The word "Legacy Console Edition" comes from "Legacy" and "Console Edition". Originally, the word "Console Edition" was italicized. So the name should be "Legacy Console Edition". I propose using this name on this wiki. Edit: Rewrote name. Skylord wars (talk) 13:56, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Outdated information[]

In the "Differences from Java and Bedrock Edition" section, there are some things that are outdated:

  • "The game features splitscreen functionality." Bedrock also features splitscreen functionality.
  • "The game includes an automatic crafting system where you do not have to place the blocks in the grid." The recipe book in both Bedrock and Java allows you to not have to place blocks in the grid too.
  • "Creative mode flying does not conserve momentum, meaning if you sprint and stop quickly, you will not drift to another block." This is also the case in Bedrock.

Replaced By Bedrock[]

With Bedrock coming to PS4 tomorrow, the last console edition will be discontinued. On the Minecraft and Legacy Console Edition templates, I think we should have separate sections for the games replaced by Bedrock (xbox, nswitch, ps4) and those completely discontinued, to avoid confusing people into think Minecraft no longer exists on consoles.73.208.227.101 00:01, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Exclusive items in Legacy Console[]

So I've recently gotten into modding, specifically on Wii U Edition, and through inventory editing I can see that every block state has an item for itself (some of them break once you put them in your inventory and disappear, but still exist.) so that means stuff like "unpowered_repeater" exists which is unpowered block state of the "repeater." This is also true for "powered_repeater." But it isn't limited to just repeaters, there's powered/unpowered comparators, unlit redstone torch, block states for ground/wall signs, the block state for redstone dust (which is white for some reason,) and block states for piston heads (one of them is the texture of the side of a piston for some reason but still called piston_head.) There's wood with bark on all it's sides; though it's broken and doesn't burn or craft into planks, it can be used as fuel. There's also a few weird items like "debug_fourj_item," which has the texture of a barrier but does absolutely nothing. (All the items of these have their original names like the piston heads are just called "piston," except debug_fourj_item, which has no name; I used a mod which turns on advanced tool tips.) Some extra stuff[]

So basically the Xbox 360 version (idk about other old consoles) have a sort of cheat sheet, where you can replace people’s spawn points, mess with peoples game modes and to to people, I can get a low quality photo of it, you access it with the back button. (Very useful for controlling people). It only works on multiplayer and can only be used by admin. That’s all I remember for now. 84.66.165.23 18:16, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

I remember this. It's been replaced by game rules and commands in Java and Bedrock. Dlljs (talk) 20:03, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Also there is luck. 84.66.165.23 18:21, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

X/Z Distance effects[]

You can actually bypass the barrier using some glitches, and the world goes on for hundreds of thousands of blocks. At Z = 640, water stops rendering, but it is still there. Entities do not work, if you ride a boat from the world outside the barrier, when you exit the boat will sink. --MCDiamond360 (talk) 18:36, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Is there any way to get UI that's more like this version on Java?[]

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, sorry

I'm really accustomed to the creative mode and crafting table UI on this version, but I would like to play on PC. Is there any way to get the UI to be more like this? --51.183.68.191 01:41, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
