Rían was an Elf of Lindon who served Gil-galad in the Second Age.

He was created for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and so is non-canonical.

Biography[]

Under the instruction of Gil-galad, Rían and several other Elves accompanied Galadriel into the frigid wilds of Forodwaith to search for evidence of Sauron. After entering an abandoned fortress of Morgoth, it was Rían who encountered a snow-troll, which he aided Galadriel in slaying. Galadriel thereafter desired to continue the search, but Rían and his companions refused to defy Gil-galad's instructions.

Upon returning to Lindon, Rían and the others of the small company were honored as heroes, and given the gift of return to Valinor. Though Galadriel chose to return to Middle-earth, Rían and the others passed over the sea to the Undying Lands.
