The Golden Book was a book about the early history of the Eldar in earlier version of the legendarium.
History[]
The book was preserved in the city of Kortirion, on Tol Eressëa. It was used as source material by Pengolod, when he wrote the Quenta Silmarillion. When Ælfwine/Eriol took the Straight Road and arrived on Tol Eressëa he was allowed to read the Golden Book.[1][2][3] Then, he started the translation of its contents in English, but the work was completed by his son Heorrenda the Harper.[4]
Etymology[]
In Quenya the book is called Parma Kuluina.[5]
