The United States Department of the Army was a pre-War division of the United States government, organized under the Defense Department. The Department of the Army was one of three military departments of the executive branch, which oversaw the United States Army.

Background[]

The Department released covert operations manuals to high ranking military officials, providing information and training on the art of subterfuge. The manuals were not intended for public circulation and were marked "Authorized Eyes Only."

They also were responsible for setting up the South Boston military checkpoint, stopping and searching any vehicles entering the city of Boston. The 104th Infantry Regiment held anyone they thought suspicious, running background checks, stripping vehicles, and detaining people when they felt it necessary.[4]

The SCYTHE Program was a restricted Department of the Army program led by Colonel Thomas Nelson, with the goal to repurpose civilian manufacturing infrastructure for the covert production of munitions, allowing for rapid military mobilization in the event of a major conventional-forces conflict. Companies would bid for contracts from the department.[5] Both Wilson Atomatoys and HalluciGen, Inc. were known to participate.[6]

The United States Army made up the largest division of the department. Before the Great War dissolved the armed forces alongside the Federal government as a whole, the army was instrumental in the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska as part of the Sino-American War. They were also heavily involved in the United States annexation of Canada.
