Tunnsley is a Mister Handy who was cut from the Fallout 76 update Skyline Valley. He would have been encountered in the Vault 63 engineering sector as part of a cut main quest (prefix Storm_MQ12) in the Vault 63 questline.

Background[]

Tunnsley is the Mister Handy assigned to attend the security desk in the Vault 63 engineering sector. His duties involve logging and accounting shipments and personnel coming to and from via the tram system, a task which keeps him constantly busy.[1][2] As a security receptionist, he offers information and guidelines about the sector.[3][4] He also inspects for security clearances and contraband,[5] though he is somewhat lax about actually verifying them and is willing to simply accept people as trustworthy based on appearances.[6][7]

Tunnsley's directives forbid him from leaving the security desk,[8][9] so he has remained there even though the rest of the sector has crumbled around him from the damage caused by the Vault 63 weather machine's earthquakes, including flooding and cave-ins. Although he has since become overdue for maintenance and been left isolated in the abandoned sector, Tunnsley remains enthuasiastic that things elsewhere in Vault 63 are still going well, assuming everyone is simply too busy to remember them.[2][8] Though he would be happy to have some contact with sentient life,[10] he is content with continuing his paperwork duties. As a result of his programming, Tunnsley also holds the sector head Ignatius in high regard, referring to him as the "esteemed leader."[9] However, even this comes second to his paperwork, which -- due to his assignment -- he has all the time in the world to get caught up on.[11][12][13]

As part of the cut main quest, the Vault 76 dwellers would encounter Tunnsley after entering the Vault 63 engineering sector, likely not far into the sector.[6] Tunnsley would provide information about the sector, including warning about the Robobrains roaming the area.[14] After dealing with Iggy during the quest, the dwellers could return to Tunnsley and inform him of the sector head's fate.[9][12][13]

Notes[]

In one ambient dialogue line, Tunnsley finds a severed finger and puts it into a drawer with other fingers.[15] This may reference Snip Snip from the Fallout TV series, who is shown to have a similar drawer.

References[]

  1. Vault 76 dweller: "What is it you do?"
Tunnsley: "It is my duty to make sure that everything coming in or going out from the other sectors is properly documented and accounted for. Whether it be the fresh brains coming from the Organics lab, or the shiny new equipment going to the Meteorological sector. It's a bureaucratic dream!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  2. 2.0 2.1 Vault 76 dweller: "Does it keep you very busy?"
Tunnsley: "I used to be incredibly busy, with trains coming hither and thither all the time. But now that you mention it, we haven't had anything come through for quite a bit. I'm sure that everything's fine and perhaps they've just forgotten."
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  3. Tunnsley: "Please inspect the experiments in the lab at your own risk, that said, you'd only lose a limb at worst... or maybe two."
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  4. Tunnsley: "Vault guidelines recommend you wear protective clothing down here for your own safety, but I don't think it'll make a spot of difference!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  5. Tunnsley: "Now don't be trying to sneak any contraband past me. I've got a keen eye for that sort of thing, three of them in fact!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  6. 6.0 6.1 Tunnsley: "Oh? A new face?! Should you be here? Oh well... You don't look like much of a security threat. So tell me stranger, how can I help you?"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  7. Tunnsley: "I do hope you've got all the necessary security clearance to be down here? Ah that's alright, you look trustworthy enough to me!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  8. 8.0 8.1 Vault 76 dweller: "All of Vault 63."
Tunnsley: "I am forbidden from abandoning my post, so I cannot say for sure what has happened in the other sectors or the rest of the Vault. However, my memory banks do recall rumblings a while ago and then things going very quiet. But I'm sure everything's going to plan out there!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  9. 9.0 9.1 9.2 Vault 76 dweller: "He was fine. We managed to come to an agreement."
Tunnsley: "I am so glad to hear that you were satisfied with the results of your interactions with our esteemed leader. Do let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. I can't leave here, after all!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  10. Vault 76 dweller: "This area specifically."
Tunnsley: "Well, development was going splendidly in this sector. Our weapon testing fatalities were down to a record 40% and our production of Robobrains was positively booming! But everything became disconcertingly quiet one day, and it's been like a ghost town! I'm just glad to be talking to another sentient being honestly!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  11. Tunnsley: "All this paperwork is dangerously out of date. It's a good thing I'm posted here indefinitely to update it when everything returns back to normal, lucky me!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  12. 12.0 12.1 Vault 76 dweller: "He went insane and made those freaky Robobrain things his 'new family'."
Tunnsley: "A testament to his creative genius I suppose! Perhaps he was looking for a connection that he lacked from the rest of the Stolz family? I, on the other hand, have no family, friends or loved ones of any kind. But that's ok, I am perpetually occupied by my paperwork!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  13. 13.0 13.1 Vault 76 dweller: "His death was my fault. I took his pacification gizmo from him and he was killed in the process."
Tunnsley: "You mean, it was your actions that caused the death of our venerable Head of Sector ? I... I can't believe it... Oh well, the security desk will continue to function as normal in his absence."
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  14. Vault 76 dweller: "There are robots down here?"
Tunnsley: "But of course! I guess I'm also included in that list, technically. Though not all the robots down here are quite as friendly as I am, in truth. Just keep an eye out for the Robobrains roaming around. They pack a nasty punch if you upset them."
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
  15. Tunnsley: "Oh look, a finger. How did you get there old chap? Well, into the drawer with the others I suppose!"
    (Tunnsley's dialogue)
