Is this really the last main quest?[]

Because that's how it looks at the moment based on the drop down menu... but on the other hand only three main quests? --Radloach 02:28, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

I wanna know this also

After this quest you are going to decide which faction(NCR, Caesar, House or Independence)you are going to side with, which leads to different endings.(Magi123 06:44, April 1, 2011 (UTC))

getting to the tops[]

Since the last main quest ends in Boulder City, we should probably add a section on how to get from Boulder city to New Vegas. I.E. follow the road up to Freeside, go through the city, pay 2,000 caps or get a passport, etc.

You don't have to pay 2,000 caps you just have to have 2,000 caps. --Radloach 02:40, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

as you can tell I got a passport... still, the point remains.

So funny[]

I have the Black Widow and I decided to sleep with Benny and then kill him in his sleep. You don't see anything but Benny talks about your... er... assets. I laughed my head off. Plus, much easier than having to fight all the people in the hotel! --Deboriole 17:56, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Quick Walkthrough is incorrect?[]

"Giving your weapons to Swank and then killing Benny causes them to be lost"

I gave my weapons to Swank; then talked to him. Got the 2nd successful speak check and was allowed to carry weapons. I killed Benny and still managed to keep my weapons. Did this contributor experience a bug?

I think he meant before he passed a speech check with Swank, he killed Benny. THEN he lost the weapons due to the fact that maybe he had no option to get them back from Swank.

Anyone Tried the barter options when dealing with Benny?[]

Do you get anything out of this options? Might as well put in in the walkthrough --Nazzet 08:29, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

He gives you 500 caps as well as the presidential suite key. I believe you need 50 Barter? 71.221.121.35 00:04, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

Companions[]

After I confronted Benny in the casino, and went upstairs to the suite, my companions disappeared. I cannot find them anywhere! Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can either reload a save or go to the place where you hired your follower (e.g Go back to novac to find boone) , or you could wait a whole game week and then they should return to where you hired them. Tommygunner32 13:42, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Casino hate[]

I killed benny on the floor, not knowing about this swank guy, probably because I skipped Nipton. And the casino doesn't seem to lose aggro, would a disguise fix this?

Captured By the Legion[]

Okay, so the article says that Benny gets captured by the Legion... but when you help him escape, and you say you want him to help you take over, what questline does that lead to? Does he really become your ally so to speak? --192.132.64.2 21:08, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Representatives?[]

So are representatives from both Caesar's Legion and NCR supposed to approach you after this quest? I have tried it multiple times an I only get the Legion guy. Is this a glitch or am i missing something?

Each time I've gone to New Vegas I will be approached by both of them, but admittedly not in quick succession after taking care of Benny. I usually get approached by the Legion there, but the NCR outside of the Lucky 38. Try going into the Lucky 38 and see if someone is outside when you go outside again. MiyuEmi 13:38, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

The Ambush[]

I've been ambushed by Benny's guards both if I allow him to leave and if I kill him. There seems to be no way for me personally to avoid this ambush. I have gotten him to go to the room alone by passing a speech check and then killed him in the room and I'm always ambushed shortly afterward. Is this just an issue with my game, or is the Ambush part of it? I know the walkthrough I have states you will be ambushed. Just wanted to check this. Thanks. MiyuEmi 13:37, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

I think that they are scripted to ambush you no matter what you do, perhaps benny told them to ambush you before you went up to the room, i don't really no but it's not a bug i can say that. Tommygunner32 13:40, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

I forgave Benny, let him walk halfway to the door, and sneak attacked the hell out of him, and didn't receive an ambush. I even waited a while before leaving, and everyone downstairs was completely fine. (50.37.96.178 21:54, September 30, 2011 (UTC))

Patch 1.02 Black Widow solution crash[]

Using the Black Widow perk to kill Benny early seems to cause an unavoidable crash once you return to the casino floor. I've tried both attacking him the suite or killing him and his sleep and both times the game crashed/locked-up while I was making my way out of the Tops no matter how many auto-save reloads or even an earlier save from before even talking to Benny. I haven't tried the non-Black Widow solutions yet(or the dumb black widow->fall asleep one), since I was tired of having to force shutdown my PS3 for that day, but this is worrying.Dr. Lobotomy 05:31, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

Not seeing this on the PC version. I did the Black Widow route and didn't have any crashes upon leaving The Tops.

After loading the Patch 1.02, Xbox 360 version, for me, all of the Black Widow options dealing with Benny were disabled completely. 68.12.153.206 00:11, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Benny "stays?"[]

"You can ask him what he will do if you set him free and he tells you that it's your choice; he can either take over the strip at your side or he will walk off into the sunset and never see you again."

All I'm getting is the "I'll leave and never come back" response. How does one get the offer to stay and take over with me? Even if it doesn't affect the ending, I'm still curious about how to get him to say that. Silver Queen 14:44, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

NCR rep reset bug[]

I got the note to go to Crocker and it won't reset my NCR rep back to Neutral, as I am vilified, i gotta use NCR armor around them, which I don't want to have to. ANy ideas why?

Leigon Massacre[]

What Happens If You Destroy Every Legionary And Caesar At The Fort And Let Benny Flee? Does He Appear Tied Up At The Fort?--Ullyses = Epic 15:30, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible to get to The Fort before you finish Ring-a-Ding-Ding!? GRPeng 02:39, October 31, 2011 (UTC)
It is. I did it by accident, lots of swimming, then climbing mountains. They were already hostile to me when I got there, but opening the container that was supposed to contain my confiscated weapons is what made the Legion permanently hostile.
Benny does indeed end up bound in Ceasar's tent. (75.50.106.201 17:00, June 3, 2012 (UTC))
What platform? I was talking about getting there without exploiting bugs in the map. Sure I can go in the console and toggle TCL to get up to the Fort, but I am pretty sure there no way to do it a valid way within the standard plot lines. GRPeng 00:17, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure what I'm doing ... I never edit wikis[]

So, I just wanted to point out that you can tell Benny that you will meet him at the presidential suite, but then follow him to his room and kill him. Maybe it has to be late at night, but my last play through, I followed him into his room, watched him lay down, pulled out my holdout pistol and head shot him, and then just walked out with the chip...

--75.87.238.25 11:47, March 19, 2012 (UTC)

possible bug?[]

I don't know if this is a bug but the men who ambushed me in the presidential suite all had copies of the elevator key and Benny's room key. so now I have 4 copies of each key on my keyring. this might be what's supposed to happen but it seems weird.

They're his bodyguards. Of course they're gonna have keys to his elevator and room...-- Bacon-Man Talk to me goose! 03:41, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

Removed Strategy[]

There was a little blip of strategy in the notes section. I removed it just forgot to throw a subject on the edit.

There's kind of an "exception" to the strategy rule for quest walkthroughs and related content. How can you have a walkthrough without any strategy? SigmaDelta54 (Talk) 23:20, April 21, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry it was sitting in the Notes section not the walkthrough section lol. And sorry I forgot to sign--Xaedra 23:22, April 21, 2012 (UTC)

Reference to Big Iron[]

I noticed while listening to the song "Big Iron" by Marty Robbins featured in the game, that the quest is a kind of reference to the song:

"He came ridin' from the south side" (New Vegas's Entrance is in the south according to some game characters.) "He's an outlaw loose and running came the whisper from each lip And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip" (Benny tried to kill him and the player has come for answers/ to return the favor by killing him) "In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead He was vicious and a killer though a youth of twenty four" (Benny lives in the town (New Vegas), he killed the player and a few Great Khans, and is young.) "He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead" (The player has a choice to either kill Benny or let Caesar capture him) "It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground Oh he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip Big iron on his hip" (Benny's death is mentioned by quite a few people around New Vegas, and Benny dies after trying to kill the player, and dies trying to kill him with his guards).

Just thought I'd mention this, and someone can maybe edit and add this to the "Behind The Scenes". DragonGaming  Talk  Contribs  Fallout Wiki  Fallout Answers  My Website  MyFalloutSearch  01:22,6/28/2013

No, you do not "always get the Presidential Key" as an outcome to this quest![]

Playing as my female char, whom slept with Benny, let him go, then killed him at the Fort. He only had his suit on him, and as far as I can tell, I now will never be able to get the Presidential suite. Anyone else stumble upon this instance of circumstance?--Ubergamer (talk) 10:47, April 29, 2014 (UTC)

Both worlds[]

Don't know if this needs covering, but you can choose to first loot Benny's suite and talk to Yes Man, getting the "Wild Card" questline, then confront Benny and go to the presidential suite with him and walk through the related quest objectives before leaving The Tops. 97.125.239.20 11:48, June 12, 2015 (UTC)

Search his room for evidence[]

Seriously, what evidence?! The Courier only needs the Platinum Chip, what evidence does he need in his room? I mean, both Swank and the Courier have no idea Yes Man exists, so this is just simply unlogical game development. Or am I misunderstanding something here? --User:SaiyanElite (talk) 09:52, July 6, 2015 (UTC)

To get Swank to suggest searching Bennys room you have to have told him you think Benny is up to something or that he is making his own play, so Swank naturally assumes that there will be some clue to that in Benny's room, so no, it is not unlogical game development, but perfectly a perfectly reasonable assumption on Swanks part, and as far as the courier is concerned, you could easily think that Benny would have left the chip in a safe or something in his room rather than carry it in his pocket in public.MrSuperHappy (talk) 15:01, September 27, 2015 (UTC)

Black Widow option not available[]

I was replaying this on PS3 and found a reproducable bug, sort of. If you want to use the Black Widow option, you cannot pick the option with Swank that suggest Benny needs to be taken care of. It will remove the Black Widow dialogue when you confront Benny. You need to go with Swank's suggestion to search his room. This will allow you to seduce Benny by confronting him in the casino ground floor. It's worth mentioning because despite this locking out Black Widow, you still retain all the other non violent paths in Benny's dialogue tree. 2A02:1811:C488:3800:CC55:59A1:F8DD:BE01 13:44, December 30, 2017 (UTC)

I've added the bug to the bug section. Thanks!

Walkthrough[]

The walkthrough is not clear enough, with regards to accessing Benny's Suite, as many people (from lining online, and including myself) easily confused the "Presidential Suite" with "Benny's Suite" (especially as a cursory check of the other elevators shows them as "out of order".

This actually led me to confronting Benny instead of gaining evidence instead, which is not what I wanted, whilst trying to follow this guide.

I ended up at Gamefaqs and found this better guide in a comment by "Limosis21"

- "...go back down to the main casino floor and head up to the rear of the casino floor. You'll enter an elevator lobby area with 4 elevators. 3 are not accessible and the 4th leads to some random floor number. Take it up and about half way down the hallway you find yourself in is a set of double doors different to the rest of the hotel rooms. Thats what your looking for. Then just snoop around his room and you'll run into yes man..."

Please update the "Ring a Ding Ding" walkthrough with this vital and useful information.
