You can only play a human in FoT as well, you had to get non human recruits later, if you wanted any.--Fez 09:03, 16 Mar 2005 (GMT)

No point in writing this at the discussion area, Fez. You're right, so simply edit the article. Dan 18:41, 16 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Well, you can play non-humans in multiplayer... Ausir 22:11, 16 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Sapient should be Sentient?[]

Will people stop using the word Sapient? The correct term is sentient!

You're incorrect. Sentience is often used to describe beings as intellegent as humans, but the proper term is sapience. (Sapient: full of wisdom: wise or learned; Sentient: conscious: capable of feeling and perception). A roach can feel but would you call it wise? 75.120.119.231

"Sapience" isn't the proper term; it's a similar term used to denote something slightly different than "sentience." "Sentient" is indeed the proper and conventional term when describing the difference between humans and other animals.
More to the point, though, neither word was appropriate in the sentence in the article, since humans there are being compared to, among other things, feral ghouls, which are neither sentient nor sapient. I changed it to make more sense.--Gothemasticator 04:07, March 22, 2010 (UTC)

Whats a pure human?[]

Is a pure human a human without any mutations or something? Chiefsean16 13:43, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. If I remember correctly that is also the term used by The Enclave.

Ghost People[]

Where should we classify Ghost People? We know that they mutated from humans, but should we place them under their own subspecies, or are they different enough that they should be considered their own species, like ghouls and super-mutants?

Vault City as an example of possible pure humans? I think not.[]

"It is also reasonably possible that certain groups that have descended from Vault populations (Boomers, Vault City) have also survived, unchanged, having come out of their Vaults at a time where most radiation and fallout has subsided."

This may have been true in 2091 when Vault 8 opened, but it was certainly not true by 2241. Vault City citizens have enough chromosomal damage from the Gecko plant that they can't even reproduce naturally. An Enclave soldier who came across a Vault City citizen might think she's a pure or near-pure human because she's better groomed and cleaner than the average wastelander, but their actual genes are probably more mutated than the average wastelander living in Modoc or Arroyo or the like.

Vault City doesn't have normal reproduction because they're in a heavily controlled society and are pretty dumb, not because they're mutated. --208.54.87.158 00:26, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

No. They're unable to conceive naturally. Sex is permitted but it does not lead to pregnancy... As per Nurse Phyllis Agent c 00:55, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

"Pure"[]

I object to the inclusion of the Enclave's genocidal pure/non-pure categorizations. It does not belong on this article page. The discussion of the Enclave's thoughts about the nature of humanity belong on the relevant Enclave or President Richardson pages, not here.--Gothemasticator 05:29, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

"Pure" and "Non-pure" human definition are part of the background of Fallout since Fallout 2 and should be respected like any other part of the Fallout universe. It's also allow an understanding of why and how the objective of the Enclave.
If you want a better understanding on that, please play Fallout and Fallout 2. Itachou [~talk~] 12:41, July 10, 2011 (UTC)
The Pure/non-pure categorization is pure propaganda. In Fallout 1 there was no pure humans, just prime normals with a low radiation count. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 12:55, July 10, 2011 (UTC)
Do we hear anyone but the Lieutenant and Harry use the term "prime normal?" If so, where and when? If not, why is the Unity propaganda term preferred to the Enclave propaganda term? Idhan 22:35, September 19, 2011 (UTC)
Update: also, the phrase "pure-strain humans" appears in Fallout, in the Lieutenant's note to Set.Idhan (talk) 01:14, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

It's not a propaganda term, is a fact said in dialogue of Richardson - "Because you are. Your tribe's DNA has changed since your ancestor left the vault. Unavoidable. All that background radiation you've been exposed to."

Since their DNA have changed, they are no more "normal" humans (see DNA on wikipedia if you want to know more about that), and this particularity is see especially with the transformation into mariposa super mutant - more a human is affected and therefore "no-pure", more their transformation into mariposa super mutant have a great chance of fail (making the person brutal, stupid and dumb - that why the Master looking for vault dwellers). Itachou [~talk~] 13:06, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

Also, I replayed Fallout 3 right now and yes, pure and non-pure human are not the same. The modified FEV of President Eden for Project Purity kill all mutated creature (including "non-pure" human), but no "pure" human (as he says himself, not those who grew up in a vault, and no the Enclave members). Itachou [~talk~] 13:47, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

Rewrite[]

Rewrote the article to make actual sense. Human species and sub-species are now divided by phenotype and physiology rather than "evolution"/"mutation". Human purity has been stripped out and replaced with an explanation of the Enclave's misguided logic, for the simple reason that Richardson and Eden are bastard children of Adolf Hitler and Alfred Rosenberg, making their claims unreliable evidence. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 16:35, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

You guys should probably make a forum about this and what the Community and the rest of the adminship think of the page, or someone is probably going to ban you for edit warring. Just saying.

Tbh i don't know why on Earth the page exists. It could be better with just a WikiPedia link. Does every other Wiki on the Network have an article for Humans? No. Trolly Polly Olly 17:00, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

The introduction, it's already perfect. You have also add to bit of useless things like many things of latin that don't need to the page, and remove things that should be keep like tribals.
Also, for the last time, pure and non-pure human "exist" in Fallout (games are different of real-life)!!!!!! It's the last time I say to you, otherwise I would not have any choice in report your conduct to Ausir. I'm very patient, I tried to find a proper compromise with you, when all evidence are in-game, but Mikael, you exceed the limits of respect for others. Itachou [~talk~] 17:04, July 10, 2011 (UTC)
There isn't any evidence in the game. Only claims made by two insane, genocidal maniacs. I do not consider genocidal maniacs as reliable sources of factual information, not more reliable than pedophiles being reliable sources of information on children psychology.
You haven't compromised on anything by the way. I incorporated what you wrote. You incorporated nothing of my writing. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 17:13, July 10, 2011 (UTC)
In FO2, the Enclave personnel was actually vaccinated against FEV, they were not resistant because they were "pure". It's very likely that it's the same for the Eden version, and that Eden was simply lying to the Lone Wanderer. I see no reason to trust anything Eden is saying. Ausir(talk) 17:13, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

So the question has been resolved ;). I improved the page by adding all that was possible in terms of knowledge on each sub-species and sub-types, and reformat the intro who was stray too far from the subject like Latin locution. Anyway, your work was already great Mikael, well done! Itachou [~talk~] 14:53, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

The page exists because this is a video game wiki. If there were no differences between RL humans and ingame humans, then a wikipedia link might be appropriate. Look at WoWWiki, they have a "human" article that goes into great depth about the history of of humanity in Azeroth; UESP doesn't have a human article simply because there are more than one race of humans in the Elder Scrolls series, and they're divided up into individual articles. On this wiki, the radiation and other post-War environmental factors have had an effect on the human race, and it is to expand upon that which is the purpose of this article. --Kris User Hola 15:17, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

Original and pure humans contradicted by radiation in pre-war life[]

I've just noticed, that seemingly pure humans from the pre-war times may have actually had radiation in their everyday life, an example of this would be Nuka Cola, which had radioactive isotopes added to it, most notably in Nuka Cola Quantum, this seems to make me think that there might have been a lot of "unpure" humans even before the war, can someone search into this matter, it makes me wonder a lot...

I put quite a bit of research into the subject. Please see the article I created called Etymology of pure and prime humans, if you are interested. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 15:49, July 26, 2014 (UTC)

Where is the canon?[]

I see a lot of references. Most are non-canon.

Dose any one have a full list of all the links to stuff that never appeared in any game ?

* At what point is it too much speculation drawn from non game "content" ?

If this is a fan fiction I am more than cool with it. The best fiction always draws from the base canon.

  • I just don't see any line here between game fact and almost got published fiction.

This bears examination.

If I misread the article and this in fact just a fan fiction, then in that case, I bow & I congratulate your ability to write reference bar codes.

SaintPain TinySaintPainThat was broke afore I got here." 04:39, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Well, this is very quick math, but I just checked and out of the 13 paragraphs in this article, only 2 of them are of content that didn't appear in the series, with 1 more considered non-canon. So, if you can't find the canon content in the remaining 10 paragraphs... I don't know how anyone could help you. Paladin117>>iff bored; 04:52, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Where is the canon? Uh, the whole article. Enclavesymbol 05:01, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Cut to the chase :

"Quote" 2 of them are of content that didn't appear in the series, with 1 more considered non-canon. "End Quote"

Thank you for breaking down my point.

  • You can drag it out over many paragraphs, maybe even pages..

The content that NEVER appeared in game is less than canon. As such it should remain no more than speculation.

SaintPain TinySaintPainThat was broke afore I got here." 05:09, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

What Paladin referred too was the Fallout film treatment... which hardly deals with the other 99% of the article which you conveniently ignored the references for. Enclavesymbol 05:16, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

@Eden ~ My friend. Read it again, please?

  • Paladin117/Signature His Math was spot on. Two "never" appeared in game and ONE is non canon. that = 3 less than canon.

The page could go on and on but so far there are ZERO game facts. I love ya' brother Eden2012 but on this bit you have no legs.

It is all speculation. Still I respect your dedication ~ " Share a drink wiff me 'an a few Great Khan wenches some time?

being a pure human is more properly attributed to those whom are affected by the FEV[]

" Quote " being a pure human is more properly attributed to those whom are affected by the FEV " QUOTE"

So by that logic the purity the Enclave and BOS seek to bring forth into the brave new world are.. FEV 'MUTANTS ??

Super soldiers maybe but over all this back door attempt to rewrite canon dose not earn respect.

Fallout 3 is canon

This whole section screams SPECULATION

Canon and the Beast[]

Saint -

  • What is canon? Semi-canon? Non-canon? I refer you to these:
    • As for the Enclave, they did not discover either the pure human nor the prime normal terminology. This page is for the etymology of the terminology. Not the Enclave's ideology. And if you'll notice, the Enclave's personal ideology is not expanded upon on this page, as it's entirely irrelevant. Only a passing mention is made that the were using FEV to wipe the world clean of all life, and that's only mentioned because it flows into their work on finding pure human test subjects.

ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 09:03, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Well said. That pretty much debunks the 'no game facts' claim. Enclavesymbol 09:16, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

If it was never produced it should not be canon of any shape fashion or form.

  • If you need to fill the page with so much cut content then the concept is too weak to begin with and should be left as foot notes.

I salute the effort you have put into this but in the end it is all smoke and mirrors.

It is mostly cut content and so should not be considered canon.

Since so much of this page is built on non game facts and speculation based on cut content I feel I am in my right to point out it's flaws "In my opinion."

No disrespect intended. I just do not see this collection of mostly failed projects to be worthy.. base "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear"

SaintPain TinySaintPainThat was broke afore I got here." 02:53, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

Saint... I like you. I really do. But you are becoming increasingly frustrating, because you're refusing to actually read. It is clearly stated which content is canon, semi-canon, or even non-canon. Canon material doesn't matter. This page is to detail the usage of the pure human and prime normal terminology throughout Fallout. ALL of Fallout. This includes cut content. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 02:56, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

I have read it I just do not agree with your interpretation.

I can not say I agree when you are so clearly wrong. This is a fine base for FAN FICTION but there is just not enough game meat on these bones.

I am sorry you are frustrated by this but you should know you can not please every one and your opinion is still just an opinion.

It is not canon or supported near enough by canon and so it is speculation and speculation is not allowed in this wiki's articles.

It is a fine and well thought out BLOG. As I already said it is a BRILLIANT fan fiction reference.

SaintPain TinySaintPainThat was broke afore I got here." 03:05, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

What opinions? Everything I have here is factual, has been discussed and voted on thoroughly, and is backed up by refs and documents from Bethesda/Zenimax themselves. Where is your proof for fan-fiction? For speculation? I want to see examples instead of baseless insinuations. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 03:06, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

Facts appear in game. Speculation of would have, could have, might have, they wanted to, or they intended to.. are all just far too weak for Nukapedia's established standards. It nose not matter how many votes a topic gets if it is wrong it is wrong.

If the KKK could get enough votes their Imperial wizard wack job would be President of the USA.. But it would still be wrong.

  • Here is what I will do, just for you. I will ignore this whole topic. I can not go along just to get along but I will leave you to it. Even though I believe in my heart and soul that this speculative collection is unworthy of an article on this site. You win. I shall ignore it forever more as a favor to you.

It dose not represent the level of excellence this wiki has been known for.

But I feel your frustration.. Can you even imagine mine ? Please not answer that. I have made up my mind this topic is not worth the fight.

I would like very much to remain as I have considered my self "Your online friend." I just can not agree with this.. So please have fun with it. As far as I am concerned it dose not exist.

No reply required as I will not read this page again. That is the best peace I can offer.

Let bygones be bygones

Deny what's factually canon if you will, but don't imply others should please. Makes all of the hardwork Leon and others put into this look even better quite honestly, especially with these emotionally knee-jerk reactions. Enclavesymbol 04:13, June 1, 2013 (UTC)

Cut Chars[]

Just had a quick look. Maybe needs a little simplification, particularly in the first paragraph... Picked a F1 "unique mutation" at random and got to a cut character (Chris). Need to make sure cut characters have the scissors if you're going to include them. Otherwise, good start. Agent c (talk) 10:20, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

shouldn't we add the vault dweller to the list of canon pure human characters? link=http://fallout.fandom[[user:The Enclave General|Gaming FoxyPizza 15:09, December 22, 2014 (UTC)
