Detailed walkthrough[]
This quest can be periodically obtained when entering an owned settlement that has at least one generator. The leader of the settlement will approach the Sole Survivor and inform them that one of the generators has broken down, and the settlers lack the parts to repair it. They may also point the Sole Survivor to a nearby location with some gears that can be used to fix the generator; the Sole Survivor is on their own to find any other needed components.
To complete the objective, the Sole Survivor must use the settlement workshop to repair or replace the damaged generator. After restoring power the Sole Survivor can talk to the settler from before to receive thanks and a reward of ~100 caps.

- With Nuka World installed, this quest will not be given for settlements that have been captured or subdued by the Nuka-World raiders.
- Although this is technically a Minutemen quest, it can be obtained before joining the Minutemen. If the Sole Survivor has joined the Minutemen, the quest dialogue will include mentions of the Minutemen; this dialogue is omitted otherwise.
