The missionaries are three members of the Pillars of the Community in the Commonwealth in Fallout 4.

Background[]

These three cultists are armed guards and greeters, accompanying the rest of the group at the Charles View Amphitheater. One of them even acts as the bodyguard of the cult's leader. Unlike the cult's initiates, the missionaries are aware that the cult is a scam, and will attempt to kill anyone who does not go along with their scheme.[1]

Emogene Takes a Lover

Other interactions[]

  • When one of the missionaries is spoken to for the first time, they will initiate dialogue with the Sole Survivor, welcoming them to the Pillars of the Community and directing them to speak with the cult's leader.
    • If Emogene Takes a Lover is active, the player character can ask them about Emogene Cabot's whereabouts, and the missionary will again direct them to speak with the leader.
  • If the player character has listened to the cult leader's offer to join the cult, and is on the dialogue menu to choose whether or not to accept, the bodyguard missionary will make a comment urging them to "give it a chance."[2]

Notes[]

  • Missionaries and initiates have unique dialogue that plays if they chase the player character to Boston Common and then retreat (scripted behavior for all enemies who approach the Common); however, due to their distance from the Common, this is unlikely to ever happen. The only other human characters who have lines for this situation are generic raiders and Gunners.
  • The missionaries' appearances are templated from the first two initiate designs, EncPrewarCultist01 (000BBF86) and EncPrewarCultist02 (0019EFB9).

Appearances[]

These missionaries appear only in Fallout 4.

"You could have just gone along with it and walked away."
"There's a sucker born every minute."
    "Sorry, no money-back guarantee."
These are Taunt combat lines. The first two are used at points if the player has not joined the cult, and the last two if the player has joined.
