Geraldine Dimwiddy was the chairperson of the Officer Oversight Committee managing the Monongah Police Department before the Great War.
Background[]
In an arguably unethical incident, Geraldine oversaw the investigation of excessive force displayed by a member of her family, Officer Jack Dimwiddy. She and the rest of the committee determined that he had acted with "excessive zeal" by disarming and sweeping the legs of 91-year-old Mrs. Claybourne, though it was within "proper force" to do so, and put him forth for an official commendation.[1][2]
