Based on a vote in another thread, we will be introducing a new rank of wiki moderators, who will have rollback, chat moderator and (if implemented) recent changes patrol status. During that discussion, it has also been proposed that the minimum requirements for applying for administrator rights should be increased, based on the fact that the wiki has grown enough for the de facto requirements during admin votes have increased anyway. Therefore, let's vote on the following proposal.
- The new minimum requirements for a user applying for moderator rights would be: 500 edits on article, template and category pages, 2 months of continued activity
- The new minimum requirements for a user applying for administrator rights would be: 1,000 edits on article, template and category pages, 3 months of continued activity

- I don't think its really required as anyone who isn't up to snuff still wont get the votes. Agent c 00:35, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

- Although the new moderator idea is a great one, especially if you add the patrol rights, these are still nowhere near the 'unofficial' requirements to be an admin. Everyone knows that if you apply with just the minimum, you won't get it. As I read Jspoel saying once "[That's] a bit too eager for my liking", which is fair enough, but why don't we simply make the official requirements closer to the unofficial, like 5000 and 5 months. More people would be deemed acceptable at this level by the veteran admins. Also, the moderator may be fine, but we just can't tell yet as people will gain expectations as they have for admins. Maybe the admin requirements should be reconsidered and the mod ones put up to your suggestion for admin, because if we are all honest with ourselves, no-one would be allowed to become an admin at that level.

- I agree that the administrator requirements need to be raised. It's really not that hard to make 500 edits in 3 months. I've made over 500 article edits and I've only been here for 2 months, and I do nowhere near as much work as the admins. 04:22, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

- I like it. Always thought the admin requirements were low. BILLYOCEAN 16:09, August 31, 2011 (UTC)
- I fully agree, the requirements are unrealistic compared to what's really needed, and as we're constantly growing, with no sign of stopping for a good while, I think we might as well up the ante, so to speak. Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 16:13, August 31, 2011 (UTC)
- Im all for the months being a minimun for 2 (chat) and 3 (admin) but i feel the edits a bit harsh in a way, not for the adminships, 1000 would be fine for that but for chat mods i dont think we realy need 500. The Netherealm awaits for you 05:43, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Poll finished, late vote removed.
Comments
I agree. More Mods and Admins.
Re: Guardian, I do not think the proposed requirements for administrators are unrealistic. Sure, they might not be enough for most applicants, but e.g. 3 months was surely enough for GhostAvatar and User:Jspoelstra. These are supposed to be minimum requirements, it doesn't mean that it's the only thing required of future admins. Ausir(talk) 15:44, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
- I see your point Ausir and it is valid, but both Ghost and Jspoel are exceptional editors and admins. They had a much higher edit count at the time of applyibg than what most people would expect. All I am trying to say is that increasing the requirements will not change what people expect, but as you say, they are not the only requiremnets.
Result
The new requirements have hereby been approved. The current chatmods and rollback users will need to re-apply for full moderator status. Ausir(talk) 16:44, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
