Ahahaha! I am on-line once again! Tremble, world, before my electric heating coil of doom! The Toaster

The Cuckoo's Nest is a location in Big MT in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Layout[]

Situated between the X-7a "Left Field" artillery launch to the west and the X-2 transmitter antenna array to the southeast in the ordinal southwest side of Big MT, the location interior consists of a circular cave with a large outcropping in the center. The cave is littered with corpses, junk, piles of flesh, makeshift shelters, and beds. There are several hostile lobotomites within the cave, including the unique enemy Test Subject 1.

Below the slope that leads to the cave opening are five graves which can be opened with a shovel.

Notable loot[]

Notes[]

  • A number of dolls, resembling those coveted by the swampfolk of Point Lookout, are hanging from the I.V. stand beside the surgical table near the back of the cave.
  • Three lobotomites will respawn in the cave whenever fast travel is used, even if it has been cleared earlier.
  • Near the bottom of the slope up to the cave entrance is a locker with a red Old World flag symbol left by Ulysses.

Appearances[]

The Cuckoo's Nest appears only in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Behind the scenes[]

The location's name and being inhabited by lobotomites is a reference to the 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, where the main character received electroshock "therapy" conducted on him by the staff of a penitentiary to render him docile, with him later being lobotomized near the end of the story.

Bugs[]

Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 The location is prone to slow-down. The area around it may lag significantly, making the cave nearly impossible to get to, and made even more unpleasant by the horde of lobotomites wandering around outside. [verified]
