Brotherhood initiates are recruits of the Brotherhood of Steel serving at Fort Atlas in Appalachia.
Background[]
Brotherhood initiates have advanced past the status of Brotherhood hopefuls and become full-fledged members the Brotherhood of Steel. They are under the command of Knight Shin, who oversees new members. Several initiates are stationed as guards around the exterior of Fort Atlas, while others operate inside the fort itself. They can also be found paired with Brotherhood Hopefuls at points of interest such as checkpoints on main roads and crashed Vertibirds.

- Multiple Brotherhood initiates spawn at Fort Atlas, but cannot be killed by the player character.
- Brotherhood initiates can appear in random encounters throughout Appalachia, battling a wasteland threat. Unlike those at Fort Atlas, they can be killed without repercussions.

- One can be found southwest of the Wayward, at a checkpoint on the main road.

If one chooses to launch a nuclear strike at Fort Atlas as part of the I Am Become Death quest, the initiates will go about their normal business after donning hazmat suits. When the bomb detonates, they will cry out that they have been hit. The initiates around the fort's exterior will not survive the blast.
