Blake Abernathy is the patriarch of Abernathy farm in 2287.
Background[]
Blake Abernathy is the inheritor of the generations-old Abernathy farm, passed down to him from his father, and now maintained by him and his family.[1][2] He resides there with his wife, Connie, and his daughter, Lucy, alongside their farm cat Maisie, and a brahmin named Clarabell. His eldest daughter, Mary, died at the hands of raiders in the latest attack on the farm, and is buried behind their house.[3][Non-game 1] He continues to mourn the loss of Mary, to a point where he confuses Lucy with her.[4]
He and his family have primarily been growing tatoes, but have also recently begun to farm melons.[5] He can be heard grimacing over mole rats ravaging the tato crops, yet refuses to invest in traps from a trader; he goes so far as to say selling Lucy would not cover the costs of, a comment which his wife berates him for.[6] If asked what the key to farming is, he remarks about how his father would have replied that "it's the three L's: Land, Labor and Love," a sentiment which he agrees with.[7]
He and Lucy typically takes trips to Diamond City for trade, and Connie may be overheard "nagging" him to go there soon to purchase more salt.[8] If the Sole Survivor expresses an interest in taking up farming, Blake will wish them luck in the endeavor and comment on the possibility of swapping goods with one another at Diamond City market down the line.[9]
He can be heard affectionately teasing his daughter over her crush on Hawthorne at the city, musing that she should instead stay focused on her work on the farm.[10] Despite his gratitude for the Minutemen, he declines his daughter's request to join them, commenting on how she is needed at the farm, particularly in light of Mary's death.[11][12]
