Duplicate article?[]

Is this article necessary? Doesn't it just duplicate information already in Chunk format and Player.dat_format?

I could see a tutorial explaining how to use nbt tags with commands, but an article seems redundant.

I agree, not to mention the article's author has probably not read it when he, for example, cannot differ direction and Motion, the first one being projectiles exclusive, and the second one beginning with an uppercase M, as well as everything else. It's pretty much a dump article containing mostly the author's (not so elaborate) personal research. The only valuable thing here would be the syntax for the commands, but that would probably go to Commands.

I think that this article would be helpful to players who are new to NBT tags, but it Really needs to be updated to be actually useful for 1.9. Please could a person who is good with NBT tags help update this.

What about /setblock?[]

Does not include /setblock commands? They have NBT tags as well! TrainsILike (talk | contribs) 05:21, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Adding an example[]

There needs to be an example such as /give kenblu24 minecraft:paper 1 1 {display:{Name:"snoo"}} the article doesn't clearly state that there need to be curly braces surrounding the first nbt tag. Kenblu24 (talk) 22:09, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Making this tutorial useful[]

There is no point is having a tutorial that simply duplicates information already available at chunk format and player.dat. If that's all this is going to be, then I would recommend deletion.

For this tutorial to be useful, it needs to address common problems. Instead of just listing tags, it should answer questions like "How do I add enchantments or attributes to an item?", "How do I summon mobs with potion effects/special items?", etc.

No NBT Tags for the /testfor Command?[]

I am new when it comes to NBT Tags, so I find this article somewhat helpful... Sadly, quite a few of the tags listed are outdated or no longer exist, seeing they don't work. Now lets get back on topic... As the headline says, why aren't there any NBT Tags for the /testfor command? A list of them would be quite helpful for those who are new to NBT Tags, like I am.

Also, while I'm making this topic, I would like to ask a quick question regarding a NBT Tag... If you use the command /testfor @a {Sleeping:1b}, it will test for whether or not a user in the game is sleeping in a bed. My question is this: what difference does the "1b" make? Does it have any affect on the results of the command?

There is a list of NBT tags, just not here, see Chunk format.
The "1b" rather than "1" tells the game the type of tag is a byte, which in turn make it a little faster as the game does not have to add the "b" upon using the tag you give it.

Villager NBT tags?[]

I do not see any tags for villagers, except rewardExp. What about all of the tags in this command:
/summon Villager ~ ~ ~ {Offers:{Recipes:[{buy:{id:"minecraft:diamond_sword",Count:1},buyB:{id:"minecraft:emerald",Count:3},sell:{id:"minecraft:diamond_sword",Count:1,tag:{ench:[{id:16,lvl:2}]}}}]}}
I do not see them in the tutorial. Maybe those should be added?

Out of date[]

The "equipment" NBT tag is incomplete - Since 1.9, There should be also be an "offhand" tag, but it is incomplete !

Command Block Types[]

The article does not show the NBT tags for setting the mode of the command block in 1.9. By mode, I mean Always Active/Needs Redstone and Conditional/Unconditional

Needs a serious revamp[]

This article needs to have nearly everything removed, and instead, teach players how to read and use information stated in the previously mentioned articles.
It should show how to use the \[\{NBT Syntax\}\], because once you do that the rest is a matter of searching through the other, comprehensive article.
It also should be mentioned about how to properly use compound tags, and the need to supply format type with /testfor. (1b, 1.0f, etc.)
There's no point to having this article otherwise.

ExplosionPower Cap[]

I just tested it, and ExplosionPower is NOT capped at 127. A lot of the other information is also incorrect too, just wanted to point this out. Craftytim (talk) 01:55, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
