Light and space requirements for growth incorrect for Java Edition[]
I've done some testing on Java Edition, and Sweet Berries will grow if the light level in the block above them is 9 or more and is transparent. I have been unable to get a single berry bush to grow naturally at any light level less than 9, or with an opaque block directly above them, and I planted a lot of them. Bonemeal grows them regardless of what block or light level is above them. This contradicts the article, which states that no light is required, and that an "open air block" is required above them (which doesn't seem to allow for things like slabs or jack-o-lanterns, which allow growth just fine). However, I have no idea what the situation is on Bedrock Edition. 75.68.186.111 19:54, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
I suspect this is true - I'm not seeing them grow without light. Bonemeal works as described, and a slab over them (because it does not block light) also works. However to advance growth stages, they do require light of 9. I believe they will, however, produce berries in the dark once fully mature. --CasualZombie (talk) 15:00, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
Effect on Player[]
When walking through any sweet berry bush, the player moves at a slower speed, similar to cobwebs. When the bush is at or beyond growth stage 2, standing in it does damage to the player.
Need biome list[]
The section about sweet berry bushes says "They can be found naturally in various taiga biomes." The problem is that neither here nor on that page is there any kind of list of taiga biomes.
Can someone look up exactly which biomes can have sweet berries growing in them, and put up a list?
