Knockback[]

Is the knockback smaler then pre 1.0? Cause this is what i think, pre 1.0 i could knockback creeper to a save distance. Now they get knockback 2-3 blocks and so still explode.

Any thoughts about that? KleineMax 03:58, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Possible Bug[]

Was not sure if this belonged in Sprinting, flying or not here at all considering it could be the mod.
Little info before I post this:
I use Zombe Mod pack for my flying needs in minecraft. I have double checked the code and can't find anything any where that would make this happen.
Button Layout for the mod:
RSHIFT: Fly
C: Down
V: Up
Z: Speed Modifer

When I fly I can double tap the "W" button as if I was going to sprint and my FOV increases as if sprinting happens. While in this mode I can push and hold the space bar and it will increase my rate of speed as if the full effect of sprinting was in effect. I know its not me pushing the normal "Z" button for my speed modifier. I have tested this with the creative mode flying (double jump) and it does not work. Not even the double tap of "W" to increase the FOV, so it is a possibility that the mod its self is the reason this happens? I have had one friend that uses the Zombe mod as well test this problem and he claims it does not happen to him. Is there anyway another can test this to see what it is, the mod, the game? I am just not sure. --Throex 00:19, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

You will have to test it with a fresh install of minecraft. I have a feeling that when I go from sprinting to flying while still holding W i am still in sprinting mode in flying. (maybe, idk). It's possible a bug like this exists in non-creative because Mojang never bothered to fix up something that shouldn't be accessed anyway. --HexZyle 03:34, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
"...considering it could be the mod." Let's stop right here. The mod? This is invalid. Cool12309(T|C) 03:54, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Lol why are you guys so harsh on Throex? All you guys had to do was try this out in Creative mode since the flying is the "same" thing. I don't get why you guys didn't try checking it cause this was one of the first "bugs"/trivia things I found out when I tried sprinting while flying around to see what would happen. (You guys need to experiment around more lol). So, Throex I could confirm that for the 1.8.1 update, this was a feature/bug. (The change in FOV when attempting to sprint while flying in creative mode). Should this be added in? Or has it been fixed already? (Woops I was a month late). - Asterick6 06:15, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Thats just it, I am not sure if its the mod or not. Thats why I am asking someone that codes to make sure of it, maybe they can look at the code? Maybe they can see whats doing it? To double check that its the MOD and not just the game messing up. Either way..the mod or not the mod, the spacebar should not be speeding me up. --Throex 03:56, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Sprint Jump Length[]

I can confirm that it's not possible to jump 4 blocks, as shown in the preview. Shortly after the preview was published, we decided to decrease the sprint speed to allow for "more room" to add other speed effects, such as potions. --78.77.174.171 13:57, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

I tried to jump 4 blocks time and time again, but failed miserably. What do you mean "we decided to decrease the sprint speed"? Is that supposed to be a quote from Mojang? --HexZyle 14:38, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry I had forgotten to log in! =) --Jeb 15:24, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh haha. That makes sense lol :) I was thinking "Who is this big shot? NEED REFERENCES!" :P --HexZyle 16:23, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Not a bad idea to lower it, I thought sprinting was over powered any way with the jump. But wait for all the kids to start crying about parkour courses and such. --Throex TALK|CONT 16:36, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
He said it was lowered after the preview. The preview was uploaded before the 1.8 pre-release came out. It has always been three blocks (I had a sneaking freakin suspicion....all those failed jump attempts...LAVAAAA...oh noes...) --HexZyle 16:38, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
I never noticed, I run parkour courses in creative and I think you jump farther than normal mode like that.. --Throex TALK|CONT 16:41, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
But thanks, Jeb. I've been itching to change the page for a while now (it was irritating me the thought that I couldn't jump four blocks but I thought everyone else could) but I never did it because this "jumping four blocks" cropped up on all these pages and I thought it was just me. --HexZyle 17:02, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Just sprintjumped 4 blocks in 1.9pre5. Without pre-jumping. I got it at the third try. Unfortunately I can't upload videos. Calinou - talk × contribs » 08:12, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Stairs[]

Do stairs break sprints? 109.246.254.186 23:16, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

In 1.1, yes. -- Orthotope 04:19, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Sprinting over gaps[]

I haven't tried this in a new world or on SMP, but it seems that while sprinting, you can pass over 1 meter gaps without falling. Is this something new or is it just a bug? MageDaemon 08:21, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Which key?[]

Which key should I use to sprint? 198.228.201.154 21:02, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Read the very first paragraph on the page. -- Orthotope 21:08, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Contradiction[]

In the wiki itself, it says that sprinting will increase your speed in boats, horses, etc. In the changelog, however, it says the opposite. Someone double check this. Enderderp572 (talk)

Hunger depletion rates differ between Java and Bedrock?[]

The wiki entry currently states that hunger depleted at a rate of half a hunger icon per 7 seconds. I believe this is true for the Java edition, but the Bedrock depletion rate seems significantly higher. I’m not sure if the exact rate but i can try to record video footage and find out, if needed. W key press window[]

How fast does the W key need to be pressed to make the player sprint/how long is the window? I think this information should be added to the page. --Bo Tie YT (talk) 20:25, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

@Bo Tie YT: I don't know, but if I were programming it, I'd use the speed of a double mouse click as set up by the user in the operating system. That would mean there is no single value; it would depends on user settings. Amatulic (talk) 23:29, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
