Mob sizes.

I personally think that, if we are truly to educate people on these creatures, we should include their sizes, rounded up to the nearest tenth of a block. This would probably be really helpful to some people and I know it would be important to me. The only problem is, I don't exactly know how to get these sizes. I tried measuring an elder guardian once, and it wouldn't hold still long enough for me to get the measurements. If this sounds like something interesting them maybe someone could help do it. Here, I'll start: Creeper: size: 2 blocks tall, 1 block wide, and 1 block long. I hope this helps. Please take this under consideration. (for reference, only mobs smaller than 1 block should be listed in tenths of a block, as other mobs at a larger scale would just be confusing at tenths, also multi-mob-mobs, like the spider jockey, should be listed for the size of each mob individually and their size together). Hope you like this. Brickticks (talk) 15:15, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Trying to set up video notes for this page, and it appears that I'm unable to. YAY! sarcasm totally intended BDJP (t|c) 17:35, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Why not? Page isn't protected, not seeing anything in the abuse filter log. -- Orthotopetalk 21:00, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
What I mean is that I'm not able to set up the video notes for the individual videos... BDJP (t|c) 21:40, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming

I´m sorry for editing rabbits, endermites, guardians and elder guardians to upcoming to console edition. I didn´t see the message that told me to not. But it is confirmed in screenshots so I don´t understand why we wouldn´t. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Einusch (talkcontribs) at 21:08, 27 November 2015 (UTC). Llamas and the current definition of neutral mobs

Should a mob which, when attacked by a player, performs a single hostile action against the attacker and does not change state (that's my understanding of how llamas work) be considered neutral or passive? Neither of the current definitions seems to apply. --AttemptToCallNil, previously known as GreenStone (report bug, view backtrace) 15:27, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

My view would be that any mob that attacks the player when attacked by the player (instead of simply running away) should be considered neutral. True, the single attack mechanic is a new behavior we haven't really seen before, but I think the current definition of neutral still stands. DelboyDylan (talk) 15:39, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

Killer Bunny in console?

As far as i know, the killer bunny IS in console, but can only be placed by hacking. RAINBOW LLAMA 15:26, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Protected?!?!?!

I just wanted to edit that but it says View Source instead of Edit and Edit Source. Let everyone edit this page and Be happy, I know everyone will delete, vandalisim, etc. but someone added Baby Zombie! 65.23.255.61 13:12, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

That's a fair point about the baby zombie. I've now removed it from the page. – DelboyDylan (talk|contribs) 13:23, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Atmospheric mob

should we mentioned something about atmospheric mob? we know about it already but because jeb mentioned it here meet bat it's kinda official, also are squid and ocelot atmospheric? Afif Brika1 (talk) 06:27, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Bats, squids and ocelots are already mentioned. The BlobsPaper 15:10, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
No, i mean are they already mentioned as atmospheric mob just like what jeb said Afif Brika1 (talk) 06:10, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Skeleton Horse and the categories

So the skeleton horse is currently listed as a passive mob. Without commands it is indeed not possible to tame the mob, but it's still possible and it even happens in vanilla survival through skeleton horse traps (the horses are set as tamed when activated). I honestly think the categories could use some reorganizing. Currently combinations of mobs are listed (jockeys for example), there are too many "(exceptions)" to my liking (polar bears, iron golems, llamas). It just look like we've been trying to jam more complicated mobs into categories that were made for an older version of the game. --Pepijn (talk) 11:58, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

I always got the feeling that the terms "passive", "neutral", "hostile", "monster" or "animal" are ambiguous, and no more than community-invented terms from long ago; not really defined, and full of exceptions. Do you have any suggestions in mind, about the categories? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 21:36, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
My (not super though out) suggestion is to first have a normal alphabetical list of all mobs. After that we could have categories consisting of common properties of mobs (basically expanding upon the current categories) but instead of trying to put a mob in one category we can put them in multiple:
Will never attack players:
Will always attack players:
Will attack players when provoked:
Can be bred:
Can be tamed:
Will burn in sunlight:
etc.
This might be a bit overcomplicated, but I think that there's a need for users to have a simple list of all the mobs that have a certain property. So just removing the categories all together is probably not be a good idea.
Alternatively, we can make a big table with all mobs and "yes"/"no" for certain properties. --Pepijn (talk) 22:41, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello!

I think you can add the four new mobs in upcoming 1.14 that on the MINECON Earth for today! 22zhuyansong (talk) 02:46, 18 November 2017 (UTC)22zhuyansong

No, only the one mob that will be voted the most for, will be added to the game. We don't know which one it will be yet, but that's the one we could add to the page with upcoming note. – Jack McKalling (tcp) 10:28, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
Now the new mobs result is coming out: During Minecon Earth, the audience voted mob B: the flying ray-like mob to added to 1.14, also dolphin is one of the mob added to 1.14. If you guys have the dolphin's official picture then you can list in the mobs article! 22zhuyansong (talk) 05:45, 19 November 2017 (UTC)22zhuyansong

Mob Sounds

The article claims that "most mobs can be heard by players up to 16 blocks away". Why "most"? Which ones can't be heard up to 16 blocks away? 86.82.30.109 23:26, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

I don't know if there are any that are less than 16 blocks away, but I do know that e.g. ghasts can be heard from farther away, which I think is what that statement is referring to. --Pokechu22 (talk) 23:58, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Amount of mobs

How many different types of mobs there are currently in Minecraft? (if counting all unused/Education Edition only mobs as well) 85.76.66.236 05:27, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

Could somebody please tell me the answer? 85.76.97.244 07:26, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
77 including the upcoming and removed ones, and 64 not including upcoming and removed mobs. You know, you could have just counted the mobs listed on the page yourself. :)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 12:12, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Videos

Note: This video is outdated × 4. The videos are hardly useful now. – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe Map (item) 06:33, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Agree, new videos should really be done for all the articles, rather than just adding on to them. jjlr (talk) 07:08, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not sure what's the best thing to do about the videos. The last video by mcspotlights was made 3 years ago, and none of the features added after 1.8 have a video - and most of the other videos are outdated in someway, whether it's minor or major. If it's 1.25 and mcspotlights still isn't making new videos or rewriting old ones, the videos will likely not be very worth it anymore.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 12:17, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
So lets just get rid of the outdated videos? We're allowed to remove any outdated videos added prior to November 9th, 2016, and other outdated videos can be removed after a response from ben. In general having a videos section is outdated, curse videos usually go around the top of the article. MajrTalk

Passive Mobs taking damage (such as fire or suffocation) not reacting (compared to Player /Hostile Mob damage)

I feel like this should be mentioned somewhere on the Wiki. It's especially obvious when watching Bats in Air pockets Under-Water. I'm not faulting this Game Mechanic, just observing how-different it is. Yilante 6 /25 /18 5:52 pm 108.215.209.201 00:52, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Shouldn't the SPAWNING section also mention despawning?

Came here looking to see if passive mobs despawning is Console Edition only or Console and Bedrock. No mention of despawning anywhere on the page, despite there being a spawning section. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.67.123.123 (talk) at 5:24, 03 July 2018 (UTC). New Mobs in 3DS

Fox in 1.14

You need to add fox to upcoming mobs category. 180.155.180.172 05:24, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

"Upcoming" is only for features in snapshots, not just having been mentioned. – Nixinova 06:36, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
But year ago Pigman and Red Dragon were in "Upcoming" 58.35.196.73 11:49, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Years ago, yes, but faulty as they were only mentioned, and as such shouldn't have been there to begin with. FVbico (talk) 11:53, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
So fox needs to be in "mentioned" 58.35.196.73 13:10, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
No, there's no "mentioned" section in any page, except for upcoming release pages (which is strictly for features mentioned during the development of that version), any other mentioned features go to the mentioned features page. FVbico (talk) 13:16, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
