I have a long-running survival game that I started in the 1.15 version of Java. Conveniently I did not enter the Nether before the nether was updated.

Idea for a Mammoth[]

I know this a wiki, not a wishlist site. Also, yes, I know they'd never add such a powerful animal.

Life[]

The Mammoth would be native to any snowy biome, except mountains and except a frozen sea. It would be 4 blocks tall and 3 blocks wide. When walking, it would be able to break any tree leafs. It would break and eat entire watermelons, pumpkins and haybales.

The mammoth has 250 health points. A baby mammoth is the size of a horse and as strong as a polar bear. The health level is indicated by the tail, similarly to a dog.

Combat[]

It would attack and easily kill wither skeletons, ravagers, spiders, creepers (1-hit kill from the trunk/tusks) and anyone who has made the mistake of shooting an arrow at them (unless tamed, but then they'll still have a degree of patience). Hoglins would fear a mammoth, but the mammoth would be neutral to them.

It would be possible to make gold, iron and diamond armor for a mammoth. This armor set would be crafted out of 4 leather pieces and 3 blocks of the main material. This armor could have mending and unbreaking on it, allowing the mammoth to heal their own armor, if there's any available experience orbs nearby.

Movement[]

Won't fit into a boat. Hates deserts (will leave the biome and refuses to go there, unless necessary for combat). Moves slowly, but is able to outrun anything that it would naturally attack. The mammoth can easily step over a fence, but it won't, unless it spots food, or an enemy on the other side.

Taming and "uses"[]

  • To tame a mammoth, a player would need to feed them an enchanted golden apple.
  • An untamed mammoth can not be put on a lead.
  • A mammoth can be given a saddle, but it's not possible to make them run, so that would be a very slow mode of transport.
  • It's possible to attach 4 chests to the sides of the mammoth. These would look like 2 normal large chests.

"Loot"[]

Should the mammoth die, it would drop 6-10 bones, 3-5 pieces of "mammoth meat" and 2-3 pieces of "mammoth fur".

  • The mammoth meat could be cooked and eaten just like a steak (or eaten raw), but it would be best to combine a "cooked mammoth meat" with 2 breads to create a "mammoth burger", which would have the combined nutritional value of its ingredients.
  • The mammoth fur could be used to craft a fur coat. When equipped, the player would have the same armor as if wearing a leather coat, but with the advantage that falling into powdered snow would be harmless.
