RAM Usage[]

Location of .minecraft[]

Would be nice to give some hints to where to find it. ;) I doubt many users will be able to, especially on windows. Its %appdata%/.minecraft, and you can find it through "run" in winxp, with win7 simply type it into your startmenu. Dunno about vista. Like it says on the page, it can be found by simply pressing the options button in the Minecraft launcher. Make sure your Minecraft launcher is updated. Tjb0607 06:40, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't understand these instructions, my launcher is up to date (at this time Beta 1.4_01), and all it shows when I enter the options menu are the options! I don't understand how simply going to the options menu is supposed to show someone where the .minecraft folder is.--Zylar 15:47, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

The launcher needs to be up to date, not the game version. Redownload the launcher, then use the options button that appears on the screen on which you type your name and password. -Alphap^T~C 15:23, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

RAM[]

Crashes[]

I keep crashing whenever i take screenshots without holding shift. Sometimes it happens on a certain map, and then another day i can take shots just fine and itll crash somewhere else.Toadbert

This has happened to me; occasionally Minecraft is incapable of allocating the RAM it needs to make the screenshot. It seems to happen at entirely random intervals because of the way Java allocates memory. -Alphap^T~C 23:25, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Large Screenshots in 1.5[]

Is it just me or do large screenshots not work after 1.5? Shift + F2 generates a normal PNG image ~ 1MB

vanishing screenshots[]

I have a Mac. Not sure if it's OS whatever, but it's a Mac. I've followed the directions given on this page as far as I could, and have looked all over my hard drive. I've taken many screenshots in Minecraft, but they are nowhere to be found. There is no Minecraft folder in the Applications Support file. Can anyone help me?
