Should we have this page? TorchicBlaziken 04:07, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

What is This, Did anyone at Mojang call this a 2Pretty Scary Update"? Grid Cakebomb Arrran Weeviling The Inventor of the Cake Bomb! 16:31, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
See the PAX's interview. Itouchmasterpro 16:35, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
It's just a chunk of upcoming features under a different name. I don't think it's needed. Just redirect and put (Pretty Scary Update) next to 1.4 --Moxxy 17:39, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Is this scary?[]

It looks pretty scary to me. :0 RogueJedi6 07:01, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

It dose not look that scary to me. :)

Oh, lol. I see what you did there, RogueJedi6. XD98.220.146.138 20:40, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Why is the Mod API still being listed?[]

Jeb recently tweeted that the Mod API will not make a 1.4 release. Why is it still being listed?–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 114.77.52.199 (Talk) 13:07, 30 September 2012 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Because no one bothered to provide a reference. Anyway, I've found the tweet and removed it myself. Hower64 14:00, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Custom potions?[]

Does that mean you can make your own type of potions or what?

You can now restore a desolate village or create a completely new village[]

What? How? If I just build buildings in the middle of nowhere will villagers appear? Do I make buildings exactly like the ones in towns to get specific kinds of villagers? Do I need a well? This is pretty exciting - My villages always spawn on the cliffiest, caviest hunk of plains available and all the testificates die unless I barricade them into their buildings. If I could start with the fence, then the buildings, then have villagers appear, it would be a much nicer village.PuzzleMage 21:49, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

you can cure zombie villagers by first hitting them with weakness potion, then giving them a golden apple. after about a day, they will become testificats (note, this may only be done to the newest strand of zombie, the zombie villager)

Once I get a couple of cured villagers, will they start spawning based on the number of doors the way they do in 'real' villages? Will they stay within the 'town limit', or will they wander away?PuzzleMage 21:49, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

They absolutely will, they are testificates, of course they will. They will breed based on the number of doors in the village, like normal. Note that once you start the curing process the zombie will shake, but is still vulnerable to fire and can still attack you, I recommend getting the zombie villagers in separate small pens with roofs, wait until they transform, then simply let the out. Just make sure you have some buildings ready :) Trigger hurt 01:02, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

There will not be a new Dimension in the future Dinnerbone confirms[]

Pictures[]

Needs more pictures like the Halloween Update. --Minecraft5025 22:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Summary[]

The summary is to make it similar to Halloween Update and show only a SUMMARY of the features. The full list is still at the bottom. This helps find things faster and Clean Up. This is also not a Version History list or a Upcoming features, messy detail goes there. --Minecraft5025 23:02, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Abbreviated List[]

So basically there has been an abbreviated list added to the main page, with the full list at the bottom.

What is exactly the purpose of this? This list is messy, incomplete - and anyway, what would you consider a main feature and what isn't? Basically this list is confusing, incomplete and unnecessary. The list is unorganised and senseless. It is just easier to have 1 list with all the features in a nice, organised table, rather than two separate lists with random 'main' features in both. Goandgoo. Talk - Contribs 23:06, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Well if you look at the update change for Minecraft 1.3, it is the full update change from redstonehelper's post. What I am saying is that it is confusing having two lists - what is main and what isn't? I propose to remove the abbreviated list. Goandgoo. Talk - Contribs 23:37, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
The abbreviated list is sufficiently badly-written that I wouldn't even want to take the time needed to fix it up. The full list is hardly perfect, but having to fix everything twice over would be a real waste of time. So my preference would be to reinstate the full list and ditch the abbreviated one.--82.69.54.207 23:57, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Agreed; there's no good reason to duplicate content like this. The abbreviated list is a series of sentence fragments which don't describe the new features well enough to actually be useful. While it could be improved, the result would be very similar to the original list, so it's not worth the effort. -- Orthotope 02:04, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Ok, looks like its a unanimous decision. I will remove the abbreviated list. Goandgoo. Talk - Contribs 03:57, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Slightly related, this is in response to Minecraft5025. No, this page will still exist when it comes out. All the other named updates still have a page, so should this one. --Kanegasi C 04:59, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Minor Errors[]

Maybe just a nitpick, but in the Anvil section it notes that certain 'blocks' will be destroyed. Levers, buttons, torches, redstone torches, redstone repeaters, flower pots, rails & mob heads.... those are entities, not blocks. Also under the gamerules, it states "Whether blocks should have drops (does not work for paintings)" paintings are also entities, not blocks. 69.145.252.54 13:08, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Paintings are entities, but levers, buttons etc. are not. See Entities --84.60.148.172 13:21, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Here's another minor error: "Potatoes give 0.5 hunger points, poisoned potatoes give 1 hunger point and have a chance to poison you, baked potatoes give 3 hunger points"; aren't hunger points technically half of a chicken leg on the meter? So it should read potatoes = 1 hunger point, poisoned = 2 hunger points, and baked = 6 hunger points. --Keithicus420 20:32, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

How to update[]

Hello. I cannot find the .bin file for the version anywhere to manually upgrade and when I attempt to automatically upgrade I get a message saying fatal error (4) null;

Does anyone have some suggestions to how I can upgrade?

80.229.230.86 14:32, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Why did you create 2 sections with the exact same title and description? You should delete the other one. As far as the update, are you using the browser to update? if so try it without the browser, although i see no reason why this would be necessary. If that doesn't work try using the browser to update. If you are just manually trying to do it, depending on what os you are using: For Windows XP hit the start button, and hit run. Type '%appdata% and hit enter. Navigate through .minecraft to the bin folder, open it, and delete a file named 'minecraft'. Simply stick the one you downloaded from, say, the wiki itself into your bin directory. Steps are the same (just do not hit run, it does not exist, just go to the search bar in the start menu) for vista and 7. for MAC OS, im not sure because i do not like MAC OS nor have i ever used one, they seem more error prone than a PC. Linux i use, but not for minecraft, ask the wiki for that. Trigger hurt 15:36, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
