NOTCH HAS CONFIRMED THAT 'BAMBOO' OR 'PAPYRUS' IS IN FACT JUST REEDS

proof or GTFO --Kizzycocoa 18:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Brocraft, bitch.

hey, don't call me that, or I'll ban you. a simple "from brocraft" would suffice. can anyone else back this up? --Kizzycocoa 21:12, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

corrupt admin anyone 69.109.25.102 03:39, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

corrupt? no, I'm not. I have not once made a decision that was not for the best of the wiki. frankly, many mistakes I've made was because people weren't using the wip template. also, you're a spammer. corrupt user anyone? --Kizzycocoa 12:50, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Kizzy, spend more time on research, I'm the one renaming the article to reeds in the first place. Both bamboo and papyrus are reeds, and Notch himself called it reeds in the code. Therefore, reeds. Derp.--Quatroking - Garble Garble! 14:54, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
sorry, I didn't take ecology at school, nor am I a coder. and, I was focused on keeping it to one name. there were so many variations, so many edits to turn the page to their variation, that I just saw it at "it's bamboo. lets leave it there". I apologize if you edited it and I un-did it, but come on, I had NO warning, and was dead-set on making the page stable. and when notch called them reeds, it was LIVEstream. even if I had got there, I wouldn't have caught it. tbh, if notch actually gave names to these things, this sorta situation wouldn't happen. but I'd hardly say that my small mistake there, which was bound to happen irregardless of any edit I reverted, makes me corrupt and evil :/ --Kizzycocoa 15:08, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah actually I can vouch for the information. I saw the stream where notch said that they were just "Generic Reeds", he said that is what they are, and that's what they are in the code. --Zaneo 06:23, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Where it says "The ultimate source on information about Minecraft." replace ON with OF. So it should be:
"The ultimate source of information about Minecraft." ~ Anon

The link to skins is no longer valid, I suggest repairing it, or better yet replacing it with a link to skins since there are now several skins sites (including mine ^_^) - TkTech <tk@tkte.ch>

The "Wiki Rules" link is also wrong, it should link to the Wiki_Rules page instead of Rules.

We need to add a tutorials/guides section to the wiki. ~blaster

Would it be possible to center the image, and the bars to the right of it can be aligned to the right? ~Devenu

Repaired the alignment. ~Vladk

Added sponge and glass blocks, modified pages of sand and rock to reflect their temporary lacking after recent updated. ~citricsquid

Oh noes we got to add 21 new blocks now, 16 colors, 2 flowers, 2 mushrooms and a gold bar--Blaster 20:33, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I suggest we change the shrub page into "decorations" and sum all the flowers mushrooms etc. in there, make a seperate page for the gold bar and sum all the color blocks up in the article "color block"--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 20:59, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Also, gold bar should go in misc., color block in building.--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 21:03, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Why is the main page protected? It's still in heavy development and we need all the editors we can get. I wasn't even done with the layout. ~Zombuster

The main page is protected to vandalism. Considering most of the page consists out of templates, it's only a little harder to edit. Make an account I'll throw in some edit rights for you ;D--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 01:09, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
I've thrown the edit protection from admin-only to regular members, which means you should be able to edit the page in a few days.

I wish we could move the fluids box up underneath gold. Is that possible at all? -- Shoy

... Where'd the block boxes go? -- Shoy

Go ask that to Dilt.--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 00:08, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

I like the new layout! Applause all around. -- Shoy

Thank you, I spend quite a while on getting it all to work!--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 16:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for destroying the old one, but my goal was to do a new layout like this. Real Life said otherwise and kidnapped me, though, so it was half-edited and I was named a vandal :( --Dilt 17:36, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Why was the Shoutbox taken out from the links area Quatroking? ~Vlad

We already have IRC. No need for any shoutboxes.--Quatroking - Row! Row! Fight the power! 07:12, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm thinking it needs to be more structured. We need to be aable to click our way through to where we want. But maybe we need more content before we can make the structure better. And we need to expand map editing. I'm working on the map editing part. Also how do add the last part of a talk? I had to copy and paste. --EmpiresBane 08:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Added more links into the introductory paragraph. SteGriff 10:27, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I think that soon there should be a building style subcategory. See Mediterranean and note how many other styles will soon be on the wiki, thus warranting a subcategory. RealG 19:10, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm ahead of you on this - everything is pretty much in place. Thanks for agreeing :)

SteGriff 20:14, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Shouldn't there be a separate entry for /infdev/ version? As /infdev/ now has some things (doors, signs, ladders) that /indev/ does not... ~Shade 20:09 08 June 2010

Seconded. The latest version is 1.02_02, not 0.31! Nupanick 13:46, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Thirded. It's up to 1.0.4 now. Could there also be a link to the downloadable client? Zolyx 07:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Blocks

96px I made some block grafics for the wiki (everything except cloth and plants):

Normal: http://www.shragle.com/files/a533e1ad/normal.zip (32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 256)
Alternative: http://www.shragle.com/files/03bd1c02/alternative.zip (32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 256)
Animated: http://www.shragle.com/files/f1522d01/animated.zip (32, 48, 64, 96, 128)

Everything: http://www.shragle.com/files/64838044/all.zip

--copyboy 11:54, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Update: The above files are outdated. I uploaded all the current block types myself, which you can now find on one of my user sites. --copyboy File:CopyboySignature.gif 01:02, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Alpha

Isn't the alpha v.1.0.4, not v.1.4.0 ?

Actually it's now up to v1.0.5 now. -KazooieBanjo 22:53, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the version is 1.0.5 now, but why does it still say 1.4.0, it never was that version?--Nunuru 01:34, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Because the version numbering on the main page is done via Template:CurrentVersion, which nobody can edit apart from admins, I'm assuming (along with the landing page). --Philcsf 01:54, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Main page links

From here we can see that popular pages such as crafting and mobs. Are one of the most viewed pages, and for a reason. I used to come to this wiki only for these links. It would be great if there was a shortcut on the wiki's main page. --Nunuru 01:40, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

I agree, it would be good to see a few more common pages linked here, as well as a general re-shuffle of these pages to keep things up to date (especially game modes). --Philcsf 01:50, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Been thinking the same thing alot of times... --Lahrmid

How about linking to Patch History in version log on the front page? --Dilt 18:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Possible new headline section

I mainly use the wiki to get detailed new information on recent updates, particularly the seeeecret friday kind.

It would be great if there was a condensed devlog section of the wiki on the front page, with links to detailed pages relevant to each update.

For instance, today's could be something like:

7/16/10 Seeecret Friday Update: (BLOG POST LINK)

- BUG: Death causes world corruption

- FIX: ??? (He mentioned something)

- Cactii

- Trees improved

- Leaves no longer vanish

- Crafting additions:

-- Boats

...

This could be spoilery, so possibly just the name and date of the update and the blog post could be immediately visible, leaving the details accessible on the patch page.

Separating some articles

Some articles like Apples, Mushrooms, and Mobs ought to be separated. They are all separate things. Apples and Mushrooms, i could understand if they dont get separated, but Mobs? Theyre all their own different thing, and it just makes sense (to me anyway) for them to all be their own article.Toadbert
