Page Move to Lapis Lazuli Ore[]

I favor the move. Hammy55 16:27, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Usage edit needed[]

In Usage some needs to add crafting with cactus green to make 2 cyan dye i didnt do it my self because im new and afraid ill screw soem thing up

- Dude, there is a reason they put the Disambiguation at the top. This is the ore page (The block you mine to get the dye). There is usage info on the dye page. UGoBoom 20:24, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Inconsistent altitudes[]

The main section states that “The highest concentration of Lapis Lazuli Ore is found at level 19.”

The Trivia section states that “Lapis Lazuli is most common at the depth of 23. (See graph on the left)” (the graph actually appears to show a spike at 19, not 23).

These are clearly inconsistent. Which is true?

Not that I know, but I'd say go with the graph. Darkid 01:05, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I uploaded a chart showing an average over 3000 chunks. One problem is a discrepency in ore spawn ratios depending on which quadrant you are in, so I centered my calculations on point (0,0). 16-20 is the ideal range, with my calculations showing 17 as ideal. NZPhoenix 05:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Remove real life trivium[]

...because it's kinda useless in terms of gameplay. Xeoxer 17:34, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Potentially confusing trivium[]

The trivia section states that "Lapis Lazuli is the only ore that spawns only below level thirty that can be mined with a stone pickaxe." This can be confusing, as it is easy to not notice the "only" in "that spawns only below level thirty". Krijac98 16:36, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Spawning[]

Like other additions, do you have to spawn new chunks for this ore to appear in existing maps? --JonTheMon 16:18, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

I believe so. - TyrannoFanTF's TalkContributions - 23:00, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Yeah it only shows up in newly generated chunks. I ran some stats and its nearly identical rarity as diamonds. Ratty 00:29, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Drop Rate[]

Did my number crunching thing again and went to add the stats, only to find that someone beat me to it. C'est la vie. For what it's worth, my stats match closely with the ones given here. --Solra Bizna 00:53, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Dug 50+ blocks, dropped 4-8 Lapis Lazuli (edit: missed some, this makes more sense), averge drop rate ~6 Dctrjons 02:28, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I see that the drop rate keeps being changed to 9, yet out of 100+ ores have yet to see more than 8. Where is this 9 coming from? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dctrjons (Talk|Contribs) 19:59, 25 January 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
Hmm, appears there's been some confusion in one or two revisions that caused it to go back up to 9. I'm editing it to 8 as per your research until someone can prove here that it can drop 9. --Gnu32 20:08, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Mined two blocks, obtains 17 lapis lazuli dyes. Of course, I can't prove it. --Rocĸetor talk 20:31, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Failed Smelting[]

You know, i thought of something. If you bother to take the time to mine redstone or lapis ore with an enchanted pickaxe, then would it not make more sense for when smelting it would be a slightly larger amount than by mining regularly? I mean, think of it this way: When mining something, you lose some of the mineral you were mining because it is buried in some rocks. But if smelted and all the stone is removed then there would be no loss, which to minecraft terms, would count for instead of 4-8 lapis, more like a definite 9 or 10 lapis. Just saying.
