Useful information[]

I'm going to place the Creator Summit 2018 info here, which was in the community portal:

  1. There will be a new gra[ph]ics setting in Minecraft. There will be a "fancy" and "super fancy" setting.
  2. The combat system will get an overhaul. The combat system overhaul will not be part of Minecraft 1.14. Mojang wants to take time and really get a lot of feedback.
  3. After Update Aquatic Mojang has already 3 more updates fully planned out to release. More info about that at Mine[C]on Earth later this year.
  4. Mojang recognizes the awesome stuff the modding community has created and is actively making an effort to make modders lives easier going forward. They are working to lessen the pain that each update to the game brings.
  5. Hope that there won’t be any more major fundamental changes to the game that will impact modders like 1.8 did and 1.13 probably will. Modders should have an easier time going forward.

Infested termite blocks[]

Are they actually confirmed to be termite blocks? It the video it was said that termites are actually attracted by decomposing plants. Waterrail (talk) 07:55, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

That's going to be in the update where they change the savanna, which is likely 1.15 or 1.16.73.208.227.101 15:03, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

This entire page is wrong[]

1.15 is the Village and Pillage update. During Minecon Earth they stated there would be a "holiday update" and then Village & Pillage in early 2019. The holiday update will include the bamboo, pandas, scaffolding, cat revamp, and Taiga update. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.136.210.99 (talk) at 2:55, 30 September 2018 (UTC). Best to wait for official confirmation before jumping the gun. -BDJP (t|c) 03:11, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
1.14 has not been confirmed to be Village & Pillage. Bamboo, new cats, pandas and scaffolding are coming in the update before Village & Pillage, coming before Christmas. The Bamboo/Panda/Cat Update will most likely be 1.14 and Village & Pillage to be 1.15, however this is speculation, just like how this page fills in gaps of knowledge with speculation. –nate (talk) 15:57, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
The way I understood it, was that all of this is the same 1.14 update, just coming in batches of different "snapshots". One part of the content will come this year, the other the next. They split it up this way just for scheduling purposes. However this is just my interpretation. – Jack McKalling [ Talk Contrib ] 16:38, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
Jeb specifically stated that there will be an update with bamboo, cats, and scafolding released by the end of this year, then the village&pillage update will be early next year. Since he referenced them as two separate updates, and this interpretation fits the two update a year goal, it is safe to assume this is the correct interpretation. jjlr (talk) 10:25, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
Incorrect, Dinnerbone said 1.14 is village and pillage. Dinnerbone said that the "Holiday Update" was for bedrock only. Village and Pillage is coming in 1.14 instead of 1.15.Liftski (talk) 09:17, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Liftski
This will probably be the same as 1.13 – one batch of features late in the year and the main features coming early the following year. – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe 19:22, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

Pillagers[]

The information about Pillagers is wrong. It says: "Another subset of villagers" while I think it propably should read "Another subset of "illagers". Illagers and villagers are NOT the same thing, since illagers are hostile creatures who attack villagers. 85.76.86.151 04:29, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

  • Illagers are the first subset of villagers; pillagers are the second. It's not implied that they're the same. – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe 06:18, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Afaik villagers, illagers and pillagers are all completely different mobs with none of them being subset of the other. Is there any source for the claims made here? Blue Banana whotookthisname (talk) 21:44, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
I found a source for the claim that pillagers are a subset of illagers, in the page pillager, but not for that either illagers or pillagers are a subset of villagers. I'll change the article to reflect the sources. Blue Banana whotookthisname (talk) 21:50, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

(The wiki is not the place for player ideas, for suggestions there is a subreddit and an official site) Cultist O (talk) 18:54, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Piercing?[]

When was this announced, How do you know that the 3rd Bow enchantment is Piercing? Can someone please give me a link to the source of this Informtion. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Thelarry79 (talkcontribs) at 06:04, 16 October 2018‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

There is literally a referenced attached to Piercing – [1]Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe 06:43, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

New dyes[]

The dyes section was removed, although the brown dye texture appears in this video by a java dev: https://twitter.com/0x00716F62/status/1052528630100680704

Is this sufficient proof? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Paradiscal (talkcontribs) at 13:08, 22 October 2018 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Neither the item nor the item ID indicates this is brown dye. Now I agree it looks like it, but it is definitely not definitive proof. In addition, this doesn't touch at all on the other dye types mentioned. I don't think there is enough, if any, actual proof for these dye items. PancakeIdentity (talk) 22:16, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
I wasn't aware these items were in Bedrock. As they have stated all Bedrock features from this update will be in Java as well, that seems like enough proof! PancakeIdentity (talk) 22:26, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Illager beast name[]

In this minecraft.net article, it says, in the illager beast's section: "Ravager? Behemoth? Got a name suggestion? Let us know!". Does this mean that it's name is going to change? 85.76.83.146 05:38, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

Probably, yes. – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe 06:36, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
This name is a temporary name, similar to "Monster of the Night Skies" (now Phantom). It will stay this name as long as the community hasn't made up (decided) on the best name yet. It's plausible to believe Mojang would at some point post a poll where we can choose between options, but I don't know if they will do that this time as well. – Jack McKalling [ Talk Contrib ] 10:35, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
I added a part that says that "Illager beast" was a placeholder--Delibirda (talk) 16:39, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Pillages vs. Pillaging grammar[]

I made an edit recently to add to "Planned Changes" information about pillages happening. Then, someone changed the title "Pillages" to "Pillaging", citing it as incorrect grammar to pluralize it. However, under the changelog for 1.2.1, Zombie Sieges is pluralized, and the page for Zombie Sieges is pluralized instead of it being titled "Zombie Sieging". As pillage and siege are similar concepts and acts, I think it's proper to use the form "Pillages" – Milo359 (talk) 20:13, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

They are indeed similar concepts and acts, but grammar doesn't always follow meaning. "Siege" is a count noun, which means it has both singular and plural form. "Pillage", on the other hand, is a mass noun, which means it isn't countable and has no plural. It's similar to "loot" in that respect; it's incorrect to say "I got seven loots out of the chest." Also, there are two meanings of the word "pillage". One of them refers to the booty or loot that can be gotten by pillaging. The other meaning is somewhat similar to "siege", but is more general: It refers to the act of raiding, not to an individual raid. For example, you might use it in a sentence like this: "Blackbeard relied on pillage as his main source of income." – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 21:33, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Savanna villages[]

Here's new savanna village picture, but it is not in gallery. File:LadyAgnes_savanna_village.jpg 27.255.91.97 13:02, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

  •  Done I've added that image as well as some others. – Nixinova Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe 06:33, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Mobs[]

Foxes have been confirmed to be in 1.14, as campfires and berries are already in snapshots; I think it's safe to add them.73.208.227.101 19:35, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Only content that has already been released in snapshots should be documented. Anything else goes under "planned" sections if at all, like in the fox's case, you can find them mentioned there. – Jack McKalling [ Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe ] 11:10, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Campfire wrong information[]

After you put water on the campfire you can pick up the unfinished foods.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.210.243.105 (talk) at 15:48, 15 February 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Personally I'm not sure whether this has been fixed already, because I forgot. However, this definitely is a bug which will be fixed, and bugs shouldn't be documented like this on the page. Although it may be mentioned as a bug in a <ref> tag. I've removed the statement for now. Thanks for mentioning this! – Jack McKalling [ Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe ] 09:18, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

19w12a[]

Add 19w12a to snapshot list please. 194.207.105.165 17:56, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

The list of snapshots are updated automatically based on the existence of pages in Category:Java Edition 1.14 snapshots; it may take a bit to update. For me editing the page then submitting without making any changes causes 19w12a to show up; or you could try purging the page cache by adding "?action=purge" to the end of the URL. –Sonicwave talk 18:11, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

How/where did you find Village and Pillage artwork?[]

There's Village and Pillage artwork (https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:Mojang114.jpg) on Java Edition 1.14 article Where/how found Village and Pillage artwork We need reliable source to confirm if it's made by Mojang not by community If artwork is made by Mojang then you need put to references so we can know where artwork is found Thanks. Disagreement on rollback[]

https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Java_Edition_1.14&diff=next&oldid=1365915

This content is not superfluous at all. Mod information is acceptable in trivia, as established in previous versions. See

I urge BDJP007301 consider reverting his reversion. liach (talk) 01:41, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

It's not necessary or notable content, especially the random modpack you linked. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 01:49, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Is keeping the curseforge link fine then? Will make another revision if that's acceptable. liach (talk) 01:52, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Saying there's a "disproportionate" amount of mods may be okay if there's a clear definition of what that is, but linking to a random mod added nothing at all and is not of encyclopedic value. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 01:55, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Is a contrast between https://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods?filter-game-version=2020709689%3A6834&filter-sort=4 and https://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods?filter-game-version=2020709689%3A7133&filter-sort=4 fine then (from curseforge)? liach (talk) 21:17, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

IMPORTANT BUG[]

Hi people,

I noticed that since 1.14, hostile mobs doesn't spawn at night... The only hostile mobs I found were trapped in a dungeon. Is that a bug? If it is, where can i report it? Thanks 82.243.3.226 08:07, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

1. There’s a button in-game saying where to report it.
2. It has already been reported and fixed for an upcoming 1.14.1 pre-release. FVbico (talk) 08:26, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for reporting this bug, but it's better to use the bug tracker (listed as "Mojang Bug Tracker" on main page) and search if it has already been reported, for next time. We can do nothing about game bugs on the wiki. – Jack McKalling [ Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe ] 08:56, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks folks, I'll try to download the pre-release ASAP. 82.243.3.226 16:12, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Trivia statistics[]

Usually on these major update pages we have statistics on how long this update took to come out compared to previous updates. This page doesn't, so is the information on eg 1.13 and 1.9 still accurate? – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 02:40, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Normally I'd say that information is not really "trivia". If there is an exceptional example, like for instance an update that took the longest time, or the most dev versions etc, it's considered trivia. But it doesn't have to be counted and mentioned for every single version. (I know, not really a direct answer to your question, but wanted to mention it) – Jack McKalling [ Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe ] 09:18, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Something weird[]

Lanterns were planned in the Halloween Update, but they were released in this update we're talking about. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 45.19.3.17 (talk) at 17:57, 31 July 2019‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Nothing weird here. They were planned to be added 9 years ago but were canned. They were finally added in this update. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 20:22, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
