Looks like a stick. Maybe you can make tools with it? --Saphireking65 21:45, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking that. Maybe it will change the potency of the tool, or maybe help make nether tools.

I was thinking what the above user posted, maybe it could upgrade your tools somehow or something. You should really sign and indent your posts, though. Electrk 23:17, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Whoever posted the use for the blaze rods on the wiki page is spouting nonesense.--99.252.109.147 00:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
i think that at some point a higher-than-diamond set of tools could be crafted with b. rods and e. pearls. it would be a weird coincidence if two new items, 1 being a stick, did not craft to make new items.99.145.0.115 20:24, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Possibly to be used for Official Fire arrows? --ThunderKnight Z 1:10am 9/23/11

Maybe using for higher durability/faster/flint and steel effect tools or repairing tools? 81.182.166.75 09:55, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Removal of "Common misconceptions"[]

I propose the remove of this section, in favour of "this item has no use, function or crafting recipe." in the previous section.

I also wish to propose a semi-protect status on this page, as there is nothing to change at this point, other than adding in speculation. this item is much like what slime was. it has no purpose. the information won't change anytime soon, and we won't need further edits until that time. thoughts? --Kizzycocoa 14:09, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure it will have a use in the official 1.9 release. --Saphireking65 16:47, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
1.9 is out. pre release 1.9. regardless, due to continuous spamming, I'm changing protect logs to registered users only. --Kizzycocoa 17:34, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
The pre-release isn't the official version, it's like the beta to the update. Mojang is still tweaking things, but they are having the community test it before releasing it. --Saphireking65 20:35, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Purpose[]

Ok why hasnt anyone added theyre actuly purpose yet? I cant edit the page so i cant add it. And for those who dont know it allows you too hit mobs form far away (seriosly try it it works). -Gamegamer0

There is no purpose. it was locked to keep malinformed users from editing in purposes. --Kizzycocoa 16:18, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
And long-distance mob hitting is a feature of creative mode. Sorry. Test your claims on survival mode before saying that they're facts. 70.246.60.105 05:08, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking it could be some sort of fuel.

In 1.9pre2, the Blaze Rod can be used as a fuel for the furnace, giving you 12 uses.

Weapon crafting?[]

Maybe blaze rods could be used for crafting a sword that sets mobs on fire? Just an idea.

78.147.178.87 20:34, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Good idea... I call this flint and steel effect... 81.182.166.75 09:56, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

or better yet it could be used the exact same way the mob uses it, for launching fireballs, supposedly fire is going to be nerfed soon anyway, otherwise it would be ...messy 75.102.112.238 20:39, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Idea[]

Here is my thoughts it is called a blaze rod, they are dropped from fire shooting mobs, they are most likely going to shoot fire like the blaze rods of zelda Desacobose 18:42, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Lanterns?[]

Remember how lanterns were supposed to be in the Halloween update? And Notch said that he would add them in a later update? He also said something about it being difficult to get... Blaze rods anyone? 90.184.191.146 21:45, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

I concur to this positively fabulous idea. Kajoman 20:36, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

That might work, but by this point, what purpose would they serve? I personally hope torches stay permanent, whether or not lanterns get added. Cobalt32 02:29, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Farming Blaze Rods[]

on 1.9PR1 I set up a water trap to harvest blaze rods, but when I did the same in 1.9PR3, I haven't seen any rods drop unless I kill the blaze myself. Have the rules changed or have I not let it set long enough?

Blaze fences[]

There should be fences made of these things - much harder to destroy. Because it is so annoying when when in smp vanilla you place these fences and it is so easy to get around... Hoverfly 16:55, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Iron bars. 95.96.128.2 08:19, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

wrong icon[]

Um, i dont know if anyone but me noticed this, but the icon on the "items"screen is wrong Mojojojo 20:44, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Another useage[]

I thought to test just for gags that can these be used as Furnace fuel and for little my surprise you can.

So these do burn up to 12 items at time, not good for full stacks as you would waste half, but better than nothing.

Um, the usage is making blaze powder, which makes ender eyes

Upcoming[]

The upcoming template (used on this page for Block of Coal) puts this page in the Upcoming category. hotdogPi-t--c--Try my quiz! Do not click! 01:40, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

This is intended; the Upcoming category is there so that occurrences of {{Upcoming}} can be found and removed quickly when an update is released. —Fenhl 02:21, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps the category description and template documentation could make it clearer that it's used to mark references to upcoming features, as opposed to pages about upcoming features, which would use {{Snapshot}} or {{Future}} instead. -- Orthotope talk 03:22, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
 Done. —Fenhl 09:58, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
