Barter results[]

I'm not sure if this is going to be useful, but here are the items I have received while bartering: Magma Cream, Glowstone, Raw Porkchop, both types of mushroom, both types of fungi, shroomlight, leather, nether quarz, nether brick, rotten flesh, obsidian (1 piece, very rare), gravel, soul sand, enderpearl, fire charge.

If you prevent the piglin from moving, you can throw whole stacks of ingots at them and they will slowly barter them all. They will pick up anything made from gold, but only gold ingots seem to result in trades. CrCl3 (talk) 16:28, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Nonsensical probabilities in bartering table[]

I don't understand the chances in the bartering table. 10/228? If you are guaranteed to get something in return for throwing a gold ingot at a piglin, shouldn't the probabilities add up to 100%? ~ Amatulic (talk) 01:42, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

The chance is for each item in that "category"; e.g. each item from "nether brick" to "shroomlight" has a 20/226 chance to be bartered. –Sonicwave talk 01:57, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Un-merge weight cells?[]

Should we un-merge the weight cells? It could easily read like each category has a weight of X, then, if that category is rolled, a barter is chosen randomly from the available options. This could easily confuse readers (as seen in the above discussion). Should we unmerge these cells so it's more clear? -PancakeIdentity (talk) 04:18, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

To me, it would make the most sense if the weight column was completely removed, and each item had its own probability, even if many of them are the same. ~ Amatulic (talk) 05:31, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

I'd rather keep the fractions using consistent denominators. It makes it clearer where they come from (some constant multiple of weight). ~ Amatulic (talk) 00:28, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Type of fire resistance potion[]

When piglins give the player a fire-resistance potion (or a spash one), is it the 3:00 or 8:00 one?73.208.227.101 22:00, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Merge the subpages[]

The subpages ([[Bartering/Before_20w09a]], [[Bartering/Before 20w10a]], and [[Bartering/Before_20w11a]]) containing bartering loot tables can be merged into one page so that it would be more convenient for players to look up. Weight too high for Bedrock table?[]

In the table for Java edition, the weights add up fine. But in the Bedrock table, the total weight is listed in the fraction as 424, even though the bartering items and weights are exactly the same as in Java edition. Hmm. Why isn't the Netherite Hoe listed in Bedrock Edition's loot table, then? Was it patched out already? I just got one in Bedrock edition (1.16.1). I was confused why there were separate tables for each loot table, because the tables look exactly the same as of right this second (Never mind. I neglected to notice Nether Brick on Java vs. Nether Bricks on Bedrock). Either way, should I (or someone) add the Netherite Hoe back in there for Bedrock Edition? 23.124.108.76 06:34, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

What is the formula? I know the formula for price is ((Chance)-1)/(The average between the smallest amount of items and largest the piglin can offer, if the piglin offers 1-2 items, the average is 1.5). Here is an easier explanation of how to calculate price:
  1. First, the variable a is the Chance, which is given on the table
  2. Second, the variable b is The average between the smallest amount of items and largest the piglin can offer, if the piglin offers 1-2 items, the average is 1.5.
  3. Third, divide a to the power of -1 by b, as a-1/b.

Um... a-1 / b is identical to 1/(a×b). That seems simpler. When you say "amount", amount of what? Price in gold? If so, then if p is what you calculate as the average price per item, then 1000×p is the average price for 1000 items. ~ Amatulic (talk) 04:15, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Remove average per 1000 gold?[]

This seems like a pretty random statistic and better fit for a tutorial. The choice of 1000 is arbitrary. If we're gonna add additional statistics, I'd prefer them be more objective. "Price" is alright, assuming it's the amount of gold ingots expected to get that item. It should be renamed to better reflect what it is though. -PancakeIdentity (talk) 08:33, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

 Support. I couldn't think of a major use for avg. per 1000 gold (although we could move it to Tutorials/Bartering farm somehow if it is needed), but it is kind of random. For "Price", I was the one who added it, and called it "Price" because although it wasn't a very accurate term, it seems a bit like a price to me. But you are right, simply saying "Avg. expected gold ingots to roll" sounds a bit long, but I end up linking it just a bit more. Blockofnetherite Talk Contributions 04:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Probability Sorting Issue on Drop Table[]

When sorted by probability, rather than sorting the complete value (say, 6/15, or 0.4), the table sorts based on the numerator (say, 6), meaning that the probabilities don't sort appropriately.

Merge to Trading[]

They are just the same thangummy

Trading and Bartering have a similar purpose for players, but they are separate mechanics that work differently. The way exchanging items with Villagers has little in common with how it is done with Piglins, so a merged article would not be able to integrate them together well.
