A server admin is a player designated to moderate the server, usually in order to remove griefers or keep the server chat friendly. They are made admins via a command used by any other admin, and are only removed from the admin list when the command's opposite is used.

Admins have access to a variety of commands, to be typed into the chat, that allow them to moderate the server. They are the following:

  • /op <name> ... makes the player with the typed name an admin.
  • /deop <name> ... removes admin status from the player with the typed name.
  • /kick <name> ... kicks the player with the typed name from the server.
  • /ban <name> ... bans the player with the typed name from the server. They remain banned until the /unban command is used.
  • /banip <name> ... bans the player with the typed name via IP address. This allows admins to prevent people who use alternate accounts to circumvent bans, but should be used in moderation, as it prevents any other person using the IP from playing in the server as well; this can be frustrating for people playing from school or library computer labs.
  • /unban <name> ... removes the ban on the player with the typed name, allowing them to reenter the server.
  • /say <message> ... broadcasts a message to the entire server. Different from normal chat in that it lacks a username, and is a bright yellow color.
  • /setspawn ... sets the default spawn point for players just entering the server.
  • /teleport <name> ... teleports the admin to the location of the player with the typed name.
  • /solid ... allows the admin to place indestructible stone blocks, similar to the boundary blocks. This single command toggles the effect on and off.
