KEY GOLEM – You'll find these cute little mobs hiding throughout the world. You must carry them on your back to a locked door, as they're too afraid to go alone. If you take damage while carrying one, it will scurry back to where you found it.

A key golem is a small passive golem that can be found within the various missions of Minecraft Dungeons.

Appearance[]

A key golem is a small yellow golem resembling a key with a small face and legs. If the hero reaches a locked door while wearing a key golem, it disappears, the lock turns yellow, and the door opens.

Key golems start off asleep.

Key golems wake up when the hero approaches it.

Key golem run

Key golems attempts to evade the hero in any way that it can. The hero must hit it to collect it, at which point it gets strapped to the hero's back.

Key golems squirm and yell in fear while on the hero's back. If the hero is damaged while wearing the key golem, the key golem escapes and flees back to its original location, but if another entity hits it, then that entity gets the key golem on its back.

Key golems can be picked up by certain mobs. If the mob gets killed, a key golem returns to the closest rug. These mobs are as follows:

Diamond Key Golem[]

A diamond key golem is a key golem variant that can be found within the various missions of Minecraft Dungeons.

Appearance[]

A diamond key golem is a blue key golem variant resembling a key with a small face and legs. If the hero reaches a locked door while wearing a diamond key golem, it disappears, the lock turns blue, and the door opens.

Fake diamond key golem[]

A fake diamond key golem is a small passive mob that can be found within the various missions of Minecraft Dungeons.

Behavior[]

A large amount of fake diamond key golems appear in the same map structure, they have the same health as the real diamond key golem but cannot be acquired by heroes when hit them. There is only one real diamond key golem hidden among them.

  • In the game files, the two key golems are listed internally as being categorized under the name BabyKey.
    • Key golems are referred to internally by the name BabyKey_Gold.
    • Diamond key golems are referred to internally by the name BabyKey_Silver and the name BabyKey_Diamond.
    • Fake diamond key golems are referred to internally by the name FakeSilverKey.
  • Key golems have nine animations. Except for the idle animation, all of the other animations have a variant named GoldBabyKey. but there is no difference between the two animations.
