Once upon a time I wrote a blog post about interlanguage links. Interlanguage links are the links at the bottom of an article that tell you where you can find translations of the article. The issue is that when an article is moved or merged, the link should be updated on all other translations. If you don't, the interlanguage network becomes inconsistent.

FDekker Interlanguage Checker network complete

A table generated by the Interlanguage Checker.

Checking this for each page and for each revision is bothersome and a waste of time. The Interlanguage Checker automates this process for you. You give it a title and the tool will traverse the interlanguage links to visualise the network for you. It presents you with a table that shows you exactly what the network looks like, which allows you to quickly spot and fix mistakes. The gallery below shows you what kinds of errors the tool can detect.

Usage[]

FDekker Interlanguage Checker inputs

If you use the tool without a gadget, these are the inputs you'll need.

FDekker Interlanguage Checker gadget

The button added by the gadget.

To use the Interlanguage Checker, you have two options. You can either visit the tool's website and enter the configuration yourself, or you can use the Fandom gadget to make it easier for you. The gadget adds a button to each article that opens the Interlanguage Checker for you and immediately runs it on the article you were viewing. To enable the gadget, go to the "Gadgets" section in your preferences and enable the Interlanguage Checker gadget.

One thing to keep in mind here is that the gadget will open a new tab each time you click the link. However, if you re-use the tab by changing the article title yourself the tool will be much faster because it doesn't have to reload.

Bugs[]

If you find any bugs or if you need help, you can open an issue at the issue tracker, leave me a talk page message, or just comment on this blog post. Any feedback is appreciated!
