Some interesting info: if you use a Day Pass to enter the city, the guards will search your inventory for "illegal substances"; that means alcohol and drugs. Although the text says VC produces Mentats and Buffout, you won't be let inside if you have either of them. This can also prevent you from completing the alcohol ferrying quest, but not for long: savvy people can notice what I said :"search your inventory", which means that if you drop the contraband to the ground then collect it after you have been searched or giving it to NPCs will fool the guards. This can also let you complete the Jet smuggling quest for Dr. Troy if you are not a citizen yet (if you are one, you won't be searched). "How am I supposed to talk to Troy if I'm not a citizen and cannot get into the Vault?", you might ask. Well, there are two ways:

  • When nearing the guards, enter combat mode and run past them.
  • Use Mentat withdrawal to get your Intelligence below 4, then talk to the guys in the Customs Office. They'll believe you are a moron and put you into the Vault as a Servant. Catch is, you can leave freely without anyone raising a brow!

Annexed by NCR?[]

WHERE is it implied that Vault City is annexed. By who? FinalWish 01:54, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

What is the evidence that the all clear came from the Enclave? They seem to kill/capture when they raid a vault...[]

"The Vault opened in 2091 after receiving the all-clear signal (origin of which remains unknown, but it's likely that it was the Enclave)" I had always assumed this was standard, "Vault-tec is inherently evil and performs experiments on the last remaining survivors of nuclear holocaust, even when it is unlikely for them to have any researchers to follow up on the collected 'data'"-type stuff, not the Enclave. (It always seemed to me their experiments made a twisted sort of sense if they were collected BEFORE a nuclear holocaust, but no sense whatsoever when performed AFTER).

It makes sense if the data is needed for the completion of a project that by its very nature only becomes necessary post-war. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 06:46, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
Good/evil crusade aside, the all-clear clearly couldn't have come from any other source anyway. Control Station Enclave had tons of communication equipment at it's disposal and they monitored the Vaults. Enclavesymbol 00:22, February 10, 2013 (UTC)
Yet none of the vaults appeared on Posidonet.... Agent c (talk) 00:42, February 10, 2013 (UTC)
Doesn't mean the option wasn't in it's operational capacity. Clearance or a passcode was probably required for Vault-Tec logistics. Besides the Oil Rig was much larger than it appeared in Fallout 2. Enclavesymbol 00:46, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

Day Passes Section[]

I've restored this back to an independent section. There is no section that it would be appropriate to mix it into. Day passes are not history, and as such do not fit in background. Agent c (talk) 23:17, February 9, 2013 (UTC)

Splitting[]

To break up the article, I'll start splitting it in a few days, unless someone strongly objects! Тагазиэль 16:57, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

dont do Vault City (Fallout 2), do Vault City (Location) then Vault City (Faction), you only do the game if its found in multiple games, like the 10mm pistol. Mug | Talk 02:50, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
I'm concerned about SEO loss by turning the landing page into a disambig; separating it into a qualifier with the game feels like the more logical choice. Тагазиэль 06:13, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
If it has to be split, we must appease the SEO overlords.
