Sympto-Matic vs Auto-Doc[]

Do we know anything more about the history of the Sympto-Matic? Because it seems like a Auto-Doc with less functions. I mean, both were sold commercially, both provide similar medical services. The symptomatic even looks similar to the mark XI Auto-Doc. Aiden4017 (talk) 03:15, October 2, 2019 (UTC)

It's recorded on the page, but to rephrase it here, the Sympto-Matic was a prototype Med-Tek product testing out various new methods of medical treatment, testing, and overall wellness, along with demonstrating how helpful it could be in an increasingly automated Appalachia. Of course, neither the Sympto-Matic or Auto-Doc Mk IX made it to commercial ventures, although the Sympto-Matic was installed in Harper's Ferry, AVR Hospital, and 3 military nuclear silos, the Mk IX Auto-Doc would only find prototype use at Big MT, the Sierra Madre, and Hopeville and Ashton's silos. Merge[]

I'd recommend not merging this. This is a unique C.A.M.P. utility object in Fallout 76 that can cure diseases. It significantly differs from the non-usable world objects. --Intrepid359 (talk) 03:31, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

As noted in the Characteristics section, the Sympto-Matic has a listed function of "Curing various diseases". Hence the functionality of the C.A.M.P. object is no different than that of the world object seen in-game, simply with repeated use of curing disease, rather than taking samples or analysing DNA. Because the CAMP/workshop object cannot perform lore-based actions such as healing broken bones or anything else listed in the separate page, this would cause confusion for our visitors. Broken bones are an ailment that can be suffered in normal gameplay. Such a merger could suggest that the CAMP/workshop object can do the same. This would not serve our visitors.--Intrepid359 (talk) 03:48, September 16, 2020 (UTC)
The matter can be remedied by simply putting a note stating "as it currently functions in-game, the buildable C.A.M.P. object is only capable of curing diseases." As such, there would be no issue to discern from the matter. In addition, should the developers add more functionality or even upgrades to the buildable Sympto-Matic object, it can simply be added to the article. Of course, the latter is mere speculation, but the former is a perfectly logical and valid solution. JCB2077 (talk) 03:52, September 16, 2020 (UTC)
