Possible exploit?

While on the quest where you have to sneak in, I failed, and had to kill all the guards. I travelled back a while later, there were two guards, who apparently respawn. They're not particularly difficult, you take them one by one. One at the front door, one at the back. And after looting their bodies, and selling their combat armor and hunting rifles back to their own vendortron, you'll come away with about 3,000 caps. No karma loss, nothing. The Vendortron Exploit[]

I discovered this exploit quite by accident, but I have not been able to successfully reproduce the conditions that cause it to activate. Sometimes, when buying "used" equipment at less than full repair, you will find a fully repaired item in your inventory. So far, I've purchased 3 fairly major items, a Sniper Rifle, a Marksman Carbine, and Combat Armor, Reinforced, for a fraction of what it would cost to buy them fully repaired. I've also managed to buy/sell the same 10mm pistol 3 times in a row (before I got bored).

However, the bug doesn't always work. When I officially decided to "get greedy" and buy out all the old stuff (with the intention of reselling it fully repaired), I ended up getting all the items in precisely the correct condition.

I'm hoping some more minds can figure out what (if any) conditions make for a fully exploitable bug. Ahem, for documentation purposes only, of course. David Simpson 00:24, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

I just tried myself and got it to work by following your instructions. I didn't need to do anything to activate the glitch. I am on PS3 so its confirmed for both consoles. Also, don't do this with a modded weapon! You will lose all of the mods if you do. --Sartanpham 21:00, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I think I figured out the conditions for getting this glitch to work. Essentially what you need are two weapons at the same state of disrepair, (or possibly one other at max repair) in the Vendortron's inventory and that you only take one of them. I noticed this when Buying hunting rifles from him that once I confirmed the transaction the vendortron's inventory went back to two rifles, even when I bought one. I'll continue messsing around to see what does and does not work.71.132.87.136 21:01, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Update on what I've found. selling two equally damaged hunting rifles at the same time works. I also can stay in the purchase screen as the weapon I wound up with in my inventory was at full health. I can sell it back at full cost, etc. etc. However I do not know it if works for all weapons and it only works when i buy one rifle, and I can't right after buy the second rifle that pops into the vendortron's inventory otherwise it breaks the glitch.71.132.87.136 21:13, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Works great, just tried this with my only sniper rifle that I had, which I had found in a building near Mole Rat Ranch. I sold it to the vendertron, then scrolled down and rebought it and exited the vendertron, and I found it fully repaired in my inventory. Am playing on the PS3. Mp5shooter 02:42, November 28, 2010 (UTC) EDIT: Just tried this again with my Flamer, didn't work. Mp5shooter 02:44, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

I just noticed a weird glitch. When waiting 24hrs in front of the Vendortron, and trying to sell/buy a 10mm pistol I'd be successfully doing for awhile, when I sold the pistol, it disappears from the Vendortron's inventory and won't allow you to rebuy. Will try a variety of actions to fix this and report back.

I figured out the bug on PS3 1.02 patch! Ironically in the process I discovered it is actually 2 bugs. The conditions for the bugs are as follows: Insure Vendortron's inventory has been reset i.e he has 8000 caps (or wait 3 game days for it to reset) in my case I used a 9mm SMG in bad condition, sell it then re-buy the damaged one - repeat this process as many times as you like (or until he is out of caps) MAKE SURE you have the item on your side of the buy menu before going onto the next steps (Or you lose the item). This is where the repair bug can be used or broken in a sense. After pillaging his caps you can do one of the following A. Navigate to Ammo, Apparel etc. in Vendortron's menu then exit the buy menu, you now have the 9mm SMG in your inventory but in the same broken condition you started with. Wait 3 game days and repeat! or B. Exit the buy menu after pillaging his caps - the item is now repaired 100% for free obviously. I can repeat this 100% with no issues so far on multiple save files using the 9mm SMG. I assume it is possible to exploit using any weapon or armor items Vendortron carries by default' which restocks every 3 game days. I recorded this process and well upload to youtube for others to view and confirm.--Creageaeon 14:22, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

I noticed if you sell a damaged weapon that the Vendortron already has a fully repaired version of and buy back your broken one, it will fully repair it, but it doesnt seem to work if you sell and re-buy a weapon that he doesnt have.

hi im james how this works is if you have an item that is less then perfect of is completly broken that the vedatron has sell the item confefm the purchase then by the broke one back and you will get the new one. if you want caps then you can buy a anti-matiriel rifle wait aprox 3 in game days then if they have the gun again in the new stock that the gun give it to a companion to where and shoot at it a few times till it is completly broken then take it back. sell the broke one then confirm it buy the broke one and confirm that and youll have a new and a broke one. you can do that if you waunt guns. for caps do the same then sell the new one back confirm it then sell the old one and you sould be able to get the gun back for 0 caps if it is completly broke continue doing till you have what you waunt. confirmed on ps3 august 21st

Mythbusters?[]

Am I the only one who has noticed that the two men working in the factory look an AWFUL lot like Adam and Jamie?

Hm, I went through there pretty quickly (didn't even check the bodies) and when I would have seen them I had a minigun blasting, so, got a screenshot? --Pongsifu 10:03, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

I suppose the role of Grant will be played by the robot? And I swore one of those security guards looked like Tory. Sorry for the goofy pictures. Xbox version, no capture card. --Rook The Knight 10:34, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

  • Heh, I do see the resemblance. That would be quite the coincidence if it weren't on purpose --Pongsifu 11:14, November 6, 2010 (UTC)
  • I think we should keep an eye out for other cameos as well. --Rook The Knight 13:58, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • haha, thats pretty funny, but probably just a coincidence
  • You're imagining things. --Draven Mephilés of Faerûn (talk) 19:39, March 20, 2013 (UTC)

Infinite purchasing exploit??[]

I've been trying to do these exploits where i can have the gun runners restock immediately after purchasing all their ammo. I've tried multiple methods but none seem to work, does anybody know a method that will always work for ps3 users???

Wait a few days and they should restock. If they don't after 3 days, try waiting a week.

Save in front of the vendortron, quit to the XMB (main menu won't do), relaunch the game and load the save. This seems to always work for me, and every other vendor I've tried (Cliff in Novac, Chet in Goodsprings)

removing stolen tags from weapons[]

I've sold items to the Gun Runners that were stolen from other sources (specifically Hanlon's ranger sequoia and La Longue Carabine; both pickpocketed) and purchased them back to discover their stolen status was revoked and they were returned to 'yellow' when dropped. Is this unique to this vendor? I can't seem to replicate it with others.

And this doesn't work with the Chinese Stealth Armor. :(

Seriously Dodgy Glitch[]

I was playing New Vegas and I had the glitch where the C-Finder's laser targeting animation kept occuring, but no laser came out, but I fast-travelled a few hours later to Gun Runners and a laser just randomly came down as soon as I spawned and the Vendortron was hostile to me after it landed, so I couldn't talk to it User:ValoR

Closed Due To Unconfirmed Reasons[]

Well, I was Holding a Missile Launcher when i went to Gun runners and Vendortron said that it was closed. It Turns out that when you hold a Big gun before you chat, It will say that the store is closed, put the weapon away to shop.

It also happened to me randomly after completing Honest Hearts, and I had my Hunting Shotgun holstered. I'm not certain if that causes it or not. --NuclearAnamoly 01:13, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Enter kiosk?[]

Does anyone know if you can get inside that kiosk on the Xbox form? I want in badly! --Blahmarrow 23:24, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

There's really no point. I noclipped my way in on the PC and there's no way to pick up the weapons. They're just static models. --//anon 00:54, February 18, 2011 (CET)

Vendortron attackable[]

I was messing around when I punched the kiosk that Vendortron was in with a Zap Glove and he became aggressive. The gate to the Gun Runners manufacturing area became opened when I didn't open it (Lockpick of 17) and when I entered, Vendortron was there, indestructible, non-targetable using V.A.T.S., and had no health bar. He shot me with a laser which did no damage that I could see.

Vendotron Bug[]

Cool. So I found out if the Vendotron is aggressive for any reason then by crouching and using a stealth boy and speaking to it right after using the stealth boy, you can turn the Vendotron friendly forever again.

Loot Pinata?[]

I find these guys to be a bit of an anomaly. So we have this place where people make really good guns. There's only 5 people protecting it (poorly), yet we're to believe that none of the NPC factions have sacked it? When the player sacks it, there's no real penalty whatsoever, not even from the NCR, who gets their weapons from these guys. It's like they decided to put a small loot pinata here for no particular reason. Bmtphoenix 05:17, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Restock[]

Does the inventory restock weapons? I just want to know before I use my Autorifle heavily.Marshal of the Maus 22:18, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

Ive had problems getting the GunRunners (as well as Contreras) to change their stock every three days as other vendors do... The Vendortron will restock the items I purchased, but doesnt reliably change its selection of gun mods. I am playing a heavily-modded PC game and haven't gotten around to testing with a vanilla NV save, though. Since I have WMX installed, I figured I have screwed something up with my game, as no one else seems to be complaining. If you havent tried yet, wait for multiple days standing right in front of the vendortron. Ive heard that it should restock every three days, others have said they think its specific days of the week. I suggest just testing that out and seeing if it works for you (it certainly does work for other vendors in my game) MayaMayhem 08:25, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

I can't get it to restock weapons on my xbox play through, killed vangraffs and now can't get smitty or sprtel-wood from the GRA becuase he has never restocked.

Guard glitch fixed.[]

My reason may be incorrect but the process works to bring back the outside Gun runner guards. To respawn the guards you have to be in a different cell. As long as there is no loading screen between your character and the large Mojave wasteland,no matter how long you wait, the guards will not respawn. An example is waiting 3 days and 1 hour INSIDE the gun runner factory and walk out. The guards should be alive and near where they last died.Snipergirl982 23:53, July 13, 2011 (UTC)Snipergirl982

Companion Terminal[]

"There is a Companion dismissal terminal on the outside wall of the box, where the Vendortron is prior to patch 1.4."

Shouldn't it be after the patch instead of prior? I have the latest patch and the terminal is there. 71.103.172.200 07:28, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

Something to add to Notable Loot?[]

I found a copy of Future Weapons Today in the bathroom, on the lower shelf of the side table just inside the door to the left (as you enter). I'm on the xbox, if that matters. I'd just add it to article but I'm fairly new to this and don't want to step on toes. Obax42 (talk) 04:41, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Future weapons today is a skill magazine and therefore is not notable loot. Richie9999 (talk) 04:47, May 11, 2014 (UTC)
